There's a lot of hype around this restaurant in Pike Place, so I had to check it out. I ordered the chicken adobo, and the service is pretty fast if there isn't a long line. It cost about $15-20. Taste wise, I feel like it was good and would satisfy your adobo craving, but nothing to write home about.

Very sweet service. The food is amazing. I love how much they give you and then chicken falls off the bone.

so sad and disappointed after looking forward to getting food from here. I came because of the good reviews and my love for Filipino food. I ordered the longgansia plate with rice and pancit...but when I got home I found two small chicken drumsticks, maybe was an adobo? and such a tiny bit of pancit. Don't know how she got the order mixed up because I was the only one ordering. . The meal was mostly rice and I was asked if I wanted "sauce" on the rice and I said yes please, and good thing I guess because mostly everything was not very flavorful. Got that with a Hawaiian pop and cost me a very very disappointing $20. Don't think I'll be back...going to try Ludi's next.

Saw raving review about this place so decided to drive all the way to pike place to order take out (not knowing there is some open seating). The food was delicious, I got a range of different things including longanisa, Salmon Sinigang (not pictured), pancit, and pork adobo. The best was the fried Bangus Fish. Others were just okay. Service was fast and you can kill time by reading all the fun signage. Parking was difficult as you can imagine based on where it's located so be mindful of that. I've been to Philippines many times, having family there, so I do crave authentic Filipino food from time to time. The restaurant is certain a fun place to check out and food is great but I would argue that the place is super authentic. Lastly another reason for 4 stars is the price. All this costed $70+. Almost $20 per dish!

I shamelessly came here twice for some sinigang and longonisa! The first time, I got the salmon sinigang... and the second time I got the pork. Yes. Yes yes yes! It was amazing. The perfect amount of sour paired with rice and the pancit/longonisa combo was so delicious! Service was very quick and welcoming. I can't wait to come back.

Tucked inside Pike place, Oriental Mart definitely makes its presence known through its delicious foods and loud exterior. I was a bit confused - we got the chicken adobo, and when I ordered the sinigang, it turns out its a "half sinigang" combo. Basically ordering the sinigang means you get another dish too. So we got the fried bangus. I think just the one combo would've been enough for 2 people. But that doesn't mean we had an issue finishing off 3. The rice was fragrant, all the meat so tender and flavorful, the fish was easy to eat (no dangerous little pricks to choke on), and the broth was so clean with a fresh sour taste. All 3 easily made the clean plate club. And they were so nice too!! They helped us make our order when we were confused, talked to us as we ate standing at their counter since there wasn't any sitting room for us, and let us try their longanisa even though we hadn't ordered it.

The quest continues on searching out Filipino food without flying around word to document islands, happen to be watching a video of someone eating here, and much intrigued me. To be honest whenever someone eats food then video taping themselves to me it's either a food challenge or not 100 percent truthful , I know it seems harsh but someone eating something and saying it's good doesn't make me want to eat it. I was focus on the presentation and hat being cool. Now we order salmon sinigang which came with salmon fillets, tamarind, tomatoes, garlic , onions it has a sour taste but on a cold day it's a welcome dish and comes with rice and pancit.: I like it and would eat this again and again, too bad it's only size, I'm big me hungry :). Also we order chicken adobe chicken legs, garlic , soy and vinegar. Now chicken adobe is tricky is my humble opinion chicken adobe is like chicken he American hamburger in the sense everyone knows how to make one and probably most have from the simple classic to hundreds of variations. I have make chicken adobe stew with soy sauce, garlic onions brown sugar, pepper and vinegar probably too heavy on the soy and boil it till almost the bones was falling off the meat, This had slight sour and soy taste and meat tender but too soft. I also like this and on my days off after fighting with traffic for parking this hideaway spot not well know will be a frequent spot. I'm anxious to try the dinuguan, I had it before. Btw as I was as leaving a getting some pictures on the restaurant and area I noticed that the hey had won a award, I can't tell you, if you want to know you going to have to come and look for yourself. I give a deep bow, lowering my head,in recognition of the award.

James Beard Award winner right here!! And the food speaks volumes in itself. Amazing. Nestled in Pike Place Market, this little Asian/Filipino grocery store is the home of some incredibly delicious Filipino home cooking by a self-taught cook, Leila Rosas. Due to their popularity, you must wait in line, order your food first and then take a seat at the counter on the other side of where you order. It's only fair. Leila and her sister Joy are a breath of fresh air with their no-nonsense, funny and warm demeanor that instantly made our day. The signs they have placed everywhere are hilarious and enforced so don't mess with them, lol! Patience is a virtue and they are totally worth the wait. I told them I used to live in Washington and have been wanting to come back here as an adult and they said "Hey, she's been waiting 40 years to come back here, let's get her some food!" HAAAA!! We were lucky enough to get their last salmon sinagang (until the next batch was cooked) and the tang from the tamarind broth in combination of the freshest salmon and veggies soothed our chilly souls in the cold Seattle weather. It was probably the best sinigang I've ever had next to my MIL's. The co-habby and I split Fried Bangus with steamed rice and fried lumpia to fill our tummies. The Bangus is marinated and full of flavor and the lumpia was crisp and delish. We even made friends with a Chicago local who sat next to us and chatted it up with her and what she ordered...we even gave her a taste of the bangus to which she gobbled it up and smiled in delight! Love how food can bring complete strangers together. Their sari-sari type store is perfect for picking up souvenirs to bring home to the family which we did. Note: the menu is dependent on whatever Leila decides to cook that day. So you eat what they serve and that's that! Don't worry, everything she cooks is incredible. If I ever get the chance to come back to Seattle, this will most definitely be my first stop. LOVE the food and hospitality they serve up!

I missed their 50th anniversary on the 11/08 but this place is a staple when visiting the pike place market in Seattle. Tita Lei and Tita Joyce are such a delightful to every customers. I came in very early and had to wait but I'm glad I came early because as soon as they opened the line to order food is long. The salmon sinigang is a must try. Definitely another place to come back to.

The fried bangas fish was a must get. Smoked, fried, deboned, and fully edible including the fish head (although that was the saltiest part). The longanisa, aka Filipino chorizos, are also a must: sweet, salty, and tender on the inside. The sinigang fish soup was a sour but hearty salmon soup. The pork lumpia egg rolls were also fried just right, although they could be more hot. We'd skip the chicken adobo which was a lukewarm drumstick. Service was especially kind and patient, despite what all the funny signs might indicate. The atmosphere was fun and inviting.

I've seen videos of this place over the past 5 years. I didn't know about this place last time I was in Seattle in 2015. I even brought my foodie boss with me to try some of their super famous salmon sinigang. I love love LOVE sinigang. For those who don't know, it's a tamarind based sour soup. I usually prefer it with pork. My in-laws make my favorite pork sinigang, super asim (sour). I tried salmon sinigang years ago and didn't really love it... but I knew I'd have to give it a chance since they're famous for it here. I ordered the combo special, which came with a choice of protein, rice, pancit, and small order of salmon sinigang. I ordered the chicken adobo combo but in hindsight I wish I ordered the longanisa. Auntie Lei said they have a vendor make the longanisa special for their store! We sat at the counter and waited for our food. Auntie Joy was definitely the more extroverted and engaged with the diners. Even if you didn't order the sinigang, she'd bring out a small bowl of broth (sabaw). It was such a fun experience. I told them the food was delicious "sarap" and both aunties were so happy to hear that! But I digress... honestly next time I might just order a full order of the salmon sinigang. It was INSANE. Insanely good. I sat there in shock because it was so flavorful, sour, and delicious. The salmon chunks were tender and delicious without making the broth "fishy." The chicken adobo was forgettable and that was only because it was overshadowed by the sinigang. I dream about this dish all the time now. It is the standard by which I'll compare all sinigang going forward. And I can't wait for work to send me back to Seattle so I can come back here. I ate so much good food in Seattle, including amazing oysters, but this humble Filipino soup was my absolute favorite bite. They actually get the salmon for their sinigang from a vendor in the market (because duh). Auntie Joy packed up a baon (lunch to go) for this one girl who stopped by and explained that she brings the salmon for the shop. I love that they're such a part of the community as well. I look forward to the day I'll be back!

Ok...I guess I wasn't using Yelp when I went to Seattle last? And I've been using Yelp a long time, but Oriental Mart has to have been around at least that long. I didn't hear about this place from Yelp, but rather all the other rave reviews and videos you can find on it. And honestly, without those reviews, I might have missed this place again. Well, you can't really miss it in one sense. It has a surprisingly large presence at the Pike Place Market, thanks to being a restaurant and mini grocery store combined. And it's covered large pictures of their food, Filipino Seattle history, and many snarky yet charming signs that practically wallpaper their kitchen. But what you wouldn't know is they're serving some of the best and unique sinigang around, a sour Filipino soup (usually flavored with tamarind). At home it's usually made with pork, or sometimes a fish like salmon, but here at Oriental Mart they specifically use salmon collar. Extremely fresh salmon collar as well. I discovered that here they only sell sinigang with a half portion so you need to order another main along with it, but it does come with some white rice and pancit noodles. We went with the bangus (milkfish) because we came to the PNW for seafood, and dammit we were going to maximize that. Both dishes were extraordinary and far beyond what you'd expect at a random stall. The salmon was tender, the soup was rich, and the bangus was half a fish and not overly deep fried like you normally see. Instead, it was golden and had a smoky quality which I loved. The only thing to note is that it was a pretty pricy lunch, around $40 because each fish dish was $20. Still, it was definitely worth the stop and would come back if I was back visiting the area, and recommend it to anyone searching some great Filipino food.

Oriental Mart is famous for good reason! I have been twice during visits to Seattle and Chef Leila is a LEGEND! This is some of the best Filipino food I have ever had! (Sorry, mom and dad! )The sinigang and pork adobo are to die for. The lumpia is long and crispy and they come with your combo meal! The flavors just pop in your mouth and you become filled with euphoria. Come early or you just might miss the salmon sinigang. The signs strewn around the stall are hilarious and crack me up. There's a sign that says if you're going to complain about the price, go get yourself a Happy Meal! Hearing the staff shout your name and that your order is ready is reminiscent of your tita calling for you at a Filipino party. The counter space is small making it perfect for solo diners or travelers - but you may just want to bring a friend to help you eat or try more of the goodness!

This ain't it fam. My dinuguan was very diluted. The pork was nice and lean, but the pork blood was so thin like water. This is not dinuguan consistency. It looks like other pictures of it show it a bit thicker, so maybe I came on the wrong day. My wife wasn't impressed with the fried chicken. For all the high reviews, we just didn't get it. Maybe we came on a wrong day but I don't think we can recommend this place to anyone looking for real, authentic Filipino foods. I give it 3 starts because my pork pieces were lean, the fried chicken was super breaded, and ladies working here were very nice.
