They run out of food hours before close. Whoever makes the delivery order probably just needs more experience

I love layers. I was never really into sandwiches before they came along, but they have changed my opinion. The flavors here are so incredible. They're creative but also simple, taking the best and freshest ingredients to create something amazing. I’ve seen some complaints about the pricing, but I’ve had many different sandwiches here and you can really tell the quality. The bread really sets them apart, but it’s all good. You can really tell that they put love and care into their food. Highly recommend!!

At the risk of overselling the food, the Notorious PIG was legitimately one of the best things I’ve ever eaten.I’ve had a really checkered past with pork belly; I’ve frequently found it to be chewy or “too much”. I don’t know what sorcery they have in the kitchen at Layers, but, my God, they NAILED it. The pork belly was crispy on the outside, and the inside was succulent and tender. The richness of the pork belly was cut by a sweet and spicy chili sauce, acidic pickled red onions, and fresh herbaceous arugula. The bun was soft and pillowy, perfectly enveloping the treasures inside. All of the ingredients came together in sweet harmony to make this transcendent sandwich. Is this an exaggeration? Nope. I would take a bullet for this sandwich.I’ve eaten a lot of good sandwiches, but for me this makes the cut into the pantheon of greats. Shame on me for not going here sooner. Don’t make the same mistake: when you go to Greenlake, you go to Layers. Do it!

So good I visited twice in one weekend! The first time I went it was around 12:30 and there was a line to order/no seating available so we took our sandwiches to go but quickly forgot about all of that once we had our first bite! I got the Notorious P.I.G. (forgot to get a picture) which is a pork belly sandwich that had the perfect balance of crunchiness with tenderness and a yummy pepper jelly. Spuds were basically smashed potatoes (their version of fries) to share with the table The next day I ended up going back with some other friends, but we went later in the day around 2pm so there was no line but more items were sold out. I got the Captain Rick tuna salad sandwiches and that was also so delicious, soft and thick pieces of bread with a heaping of the tuna salad, greens and chips inside!

Absolutely one of the best sandwiches I’ve had. Worth every penny and not that pricey for the amazing quality. I had the pork belly and it was delicious. Super soft brioche style bun with thick pork belly. Pickled cabbage, lettuce, and a mayonnaise style sauce. Outside and inside seating. A few alcoholic choice, beer, cider, sangria and super friendly vibes. Come here and enjoy a delicious sandwich.Vegetarian options: A fried broccoli sandwich and butternut squash soup.

Our first dining in experience here was great! We've gone many times when Layer's was a food truck and were excited to finally dine in. We went this last Saturday around 12:30pm. There was a line but it moved pretty quickly- we waited less than 20 minutes to place our order even with the line out the door. There were a couple of menu items sold out (but we were used to the food truck days where you had to show up before opening to avoid sell out so we were pleasantly surprised most things were still in stock even within a couple hours of them closing for the day). I got the Captain Rick (delicious as ever), my husband got Notorious P.I.G. (the pepper jelly is what dreams are made of), tomato soup (delightful) an order of spuds (our kids' favorite), and a couple of cowboy cookies. We were with a couple of friends and as it was a busy Saturday, the tables were in high demand inside. We didn't expect to have much luck finding a table. One opened up and someone from line that hadn't ordered food yet snagged it. Ashley intercepted and helped with the flow of tables by ensuring people that had already placed an order got the table first. Since there were 4 of us adults, 2 kids, and 1 baby in a car seat, we figured the kids would sit on our laps. Ashley went out of her way to get us extra chairs from the back so the kids had their own seats and as soon as a table next to ours opened up she combined the tables for us so we could all sit together comfortably. It was that extra touch of thoughtfulness that really made it not just a great food experience but a great dining experience. Our friends also really enjoyed their meals (spuds, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and a Captain Rick). The lower reviews here complain about price but I was pleasantly surprised to get a generous portion of soup, 2 large sandwiches, a full order of spuds, and 2 large cookies for $71 which included tax and a 20% tip. We left full and even saved the cookies for later. We will definitely be back- it is worth the trip from the north end!

First time visiting - happy to support a small business turned brick and mortar! I've been following along via IG and it was great to see the store front open and ready for business again. Grabbed a few sandwiches - the highlights were the Notorious PIG (previously the precious piggy I believe) and the fingerlings with the green goddess sauce! The thick cut meat is cooked to perfection, tender and moist on the inside, a decent but light crunch on the outside + the spicy/sweet flavor combinations inside were such a nice touch! Loved the green goddess dressing as the sauce for the fingerlings, light and full of flavor! Can't wait to come back to try the breakfast sandos! Welcome addition to the green lake area!

I don't want to subtract a star for this... But a huge pointer is to go as early as you can. My partner and I went at 2:15 and they had 4 times left. I was a bit disappointed but understood we were there 45 minutes before closing time. The service and atmosphere was really great. The place has a very light, open, nautical feeling and was very cute. The Jalapeno, date grilled cheese was delicious! Even though the bread was extremely thick it was nice and airy so it didn't feel like you were just eating bread. The potatoes were good, the green goddess that came with it was a bit too tart for our liking but was still pretty good.

Best truly vegan (no fake meat subs!) sandwich I've ever had in my life. It was one of those sandwiches that made me feel like they truly designed this for the flavors and the integrity of the sandwich itself-- not just to check a vegan option box on the menu. But get extra napkins-- mine was leaking a good amount of sauce and oil :) Listen, it's also the first sandwich spot that I felt legitimately calm at-- no cacophony or gritty din that often accompanies good casual food eateries. Huge congrats to the Layers team on this place. I'm a fan forever.

Heard about Layers from Kenji Alt’s Apple Maps! Needless to say, it was worth the hype. The spuds are amazing and so perfect. I had “Peace Love and Salame” and loved the flavors and textures. Even at 2 pm on a Saturday it was packed, a testament to how good this is!

Well worth stopping by. MAINS ON POINT. The Harissa Explains It All had a great chewy bite with plenty of leafy greens, perfectly cooked sweet potato rounds, harissa aioli which was like magic, and pickled onion to complement it all. This sandwich is vegan and I'm glad I took a chance on it. My partner got the Notorious P.I.G. and enjoyed the pork belly though found the fresno jelly a little overpowering. DON'T PASS ON THE EXTRAS. The real magic was everything around our sandwiches. A blood orange pineapple shrub that was inexpensive and perfectly flavored. A malt macademia cookie that I started the meal with it was so delicious. A special tomato bisque soup perfectly balanced. Plus a huge side of spuds with a perfectly tangy green goddess dressing. The only thing that would make us pause before coming back is how crowded it was for Saturday lunch and the limited seating. This would be less of a problem on sunny days when you can sit outside or if you get food to go. But even with the crowd it took barely 10 minutes for us to get our food.
