I am an academic and seldom I have seen bookstores as rich with their choice of books as Left Bank Books!

Visiting this book store has made it clear to me in a way that nothing else could that masks are a symbol of submission, conformity, and authoritarian leanings... not protection against viral contagions. The books in here are great if you're on the far left, but they make you mask up even though hospitals and doctors don't even make you mask up anymore. When I used to be an anarchist anarchy was about doing your own thing your own way as long as you weren't infringing on other people's rights. Anarchy wasn't about forcing people to conform to the will of the collective. Take a good long look at yourselves Left Bank Books changes are needed.

Excellent selection of graphic novels/comics, plus political theory, history, and gender studies, but even beyond their areas of focus, they always have something interesting I've never seen before or elsewhere.I personally really appreciated the mask policy, especially considering how hard it must be to ventilate that space.Customer service was excellent, and the vibes are immaculate.

Left Bank is an institution. The staff is friendly, the shelves are stocked, the location is perfect (right at the entrance to the market). Buy a book for yourself, get another for a prisoner (they heavily support Books To Prisoners, the oldest prison literacy charity in the USA), then walk to the market and catch a flying fish.

Masks are required here... it's 2024. I'm sure you can imagine the kinds of books sold here from that statement alone. The children's books in particular are alarming. 6-year-olds should be reading Junie B. Jones, not books about gender identity.

Amazing selection of authors and titles! The poetry section was my favorite. I love poetry by trans authors, and there was plenty of new content to enjoy. I also really appreciate that masks are both required and provided. Even in 2024, it's an important part of community care, especially in a location that brings people from across the world to enjoy all that Seattle has to offer.

My favorite bookstore in Pike Place Market! Super cute space with an incredible selection of LGBTQ books, in addition to other great reads. The sci-fi, fantasy, and non-fiction sections are fantastic!

The idea of it is so cute. The place reeks of mold and humidity. I had to run out and get my inhaler. Inspection need to go here and check for dangerous mold.

Honestly I wouldn’t come here again. I’d rather shop elsewhere where the selection is better and more affordable. In addition, you have to wear a mask in the super enclosed space, even if you’re vaccinated. I think this is extra, although this isn’t the reason I wouldn’t come back. They also only sell books from a specific point of view, so if you’re interested in not being biased, shop elsewhere.

My favorite thing about Left Bank Books is the time I overheard some kid ask if they were hiring, and then they were hit with like a 10-minute commie lecture that amounted to "Our tourist-trap bookstore at Pike Place doesn't pay its 'volunteer' workers"

Sweet lil, indie, book shop with anarchist, LGBTQIA+ support, great finds and a perfect way to ensure you can explore global views and perspectives. Love.

Walked in with my family and (no joke) got shrieked at for not wearing masks, despite attempting to prove our vaccinations. My kids were also underage to have ever required it before (3 y/o, 2 y/o and one still in the stroller). Tried to explain this and this women wouldn't listen. We were then told if we don't leave she'll get security to force us out. I laughed and asked if security will also force out a baby in a stroller, to which she said she didn't care. Well guess what, I don't care to give your business money. Have fun beating up babies.

A cute lil bookshop right in front of Pike Place Market! I stumbled upon this bookshop while walking to Pike Place and I just had to stop by. It's a tradition of mine to buy a book and bookmark while on a trip so this was a serendipitous find. This quaint spot feels like something out of a book with two levels to skim through many volumes of books. Upstairs, they had little nooks where you could cozy up with a book and look out the window to see a view of Pike Place. A great find in Seattle!
