Crazy busy (who would’ve thought right?!😉) for Black Friday sales. But, hey, both kids found great stuff at very good discounts! The line list for fitting rooms was slightly insane.

HUGE shoutout to Carly and Lindsey for helping my mom find a pair of jeans that she loved. They both went above and beyond to make recommendations and helped us tailor the jeans, too. <3

I love Madewell but I have left feeling defeated the last few times I've been to this location. They do not carry enough bigger sizes and I'm left trying things on that don't fit me or being told to look online. Would really like it if they had more variety in sizes at this location.

I went into the store looking for jeans, I have a hard time finding ones that fit me right. I was helped by 2 girls in the fitting rooms and they were so nice and helpful. I left with 2 pairs that day!

We tried exchanging a tank top bought with a birthday discount and the cashier went through with the exchange without telling us. They said they were not able to give us money back as a difference because the tank top we wanted to exchange with the previous one in the wrong size. A more experienced worker barely helped a less experienced and lead to us not being treated well. The clothes here are alright but please keep in mind exchanges here when two items aren’t the same price may give you a worse experience than you will be happy with. I don’t recommend this madewell location.

I LOVE madewell, I spend so much money there and I love their clothes. This is not an issue with the company, however I did have issues with the workers. I asked to use my Visa gift card at the register, (mine doesnt work when swiping so you have to manually type it in which I told her) and the lady looked at me like I was an idiot for asking. She asked the lady next to her who made a very disgusted face and said ‘of course we cant no’. I know that it is inconvenient, but as a service worker myself I am about 99% sure they could have. I left the store almost in tears feeling like an idiot for asking. It is ok if they couldn’t (which I highly doubt that was it) but they treated me like a complete idiot. I will still shop at madewell because I love it, and until today i have never had an issue with staffing. Please just treat customers nicely, even if it’s slightly inconvenient.

I wanted to love Madewell but their return and exchange policies suck, especially when combined with a sales team that either intentionally provides misleading information or is poorly informed.
I chose to shop for denim at the Madewell in Seattle's University Village after asking the Reddit community for suggestions for brands that carry petite sizes and promote sustainability.
I visited the store on July 6, 2024, where I was assisted by one of their personal shoppers, Kate P. I told her that I'm on the hunt for jeans that are 100% cotton or close to it and that I didn't want them to need hemming. She had me try on four or five pair and I ultimately selected the Kick Out Crop. I paid full price -- $152. They were cute and I left the shop feeling excited about my purchase.
But less than four hours after wearing them for the first time, they stretched out so badly that the crotch was down to my thighs. I called the store to tell them about the problem. The saleswoman who answered the phone said they would tighten back up if I washed them.
Well, I washed them and they stretched out again. So badly that I couldn't wear them for the rest of the day or ever again.
A flooded condo meant that I spent the whole summer living in another city (a 2-hour drive away) and that I wasn't able to get back to the store until September. I was well aware that I had passed the 30-day return window but I just wanted to exchange them for a smaller size. I initially couldn't find my receipt but then found it while I was at the store.
The snarky store salesman, Chad, told me I couldn't exchange them. He told me that all denim stretches and the Kick Out Crop is one of the stretchiest styles they carry!
Chad convinced me to try on a pair two sizes smaller. The sales staff said they looked good. My belly was flapping over and I could barely sit in them.
Still, I was just about to buy this ill-fitting second pair when the cashier said all sales are final. Apparently, they were discounted but that meant nothing to me at that point. There was no way I was going to buy a second pair of jeans that might or might not fit. I left in a huff.
It's too bad, really, because when I find a brand I like, I have no qualms paying full price. And telling others about it.

I had an exceptional experience at the U-Village Madewell thanks to their incredible sales associate, Rob. He went above and beyond to make sure my friends and I found exactly what we were looking for. Rob really took the time to understand what fit/style we wanted and offered helpful recommendations without any pressure. Not only was Rob professional and courteous, but his genuine enthusiasm and dedication to customer satisfaction truly stood out. I’ll definitely be back and will recommend this store to friends and family!

Absolutely terrible customer service!! As a tourist who's trying to have a good experience around the area, this place can just ruined it for you. Not just the staff are rude, even the manager is equally rude. If the shop is not accepting CASH at all then they should post it somewhere instead of giving customer their RB face. I shopped at different madwell before, this location is just horrible..

As a customer who has been purchasing and wearing Madewell jeans for years, I am saddened and disappointed by my most recent experience. I usually would not leave a review, but I feel that it is important as it has impacted my view on Madewell and being a customer.I visited the U-Village Madewell at the end of February 2024 to exchange a pair of jeans I received as a Christmas gift due to the pants being too tight on me.I entered the store and asked an associate for help with my exchange as the pants were unused and still had all of the original tags attached. The associate was a younger white male who told me I was past the deadline for exchanges which is only a 30 day window.I asked if there was any extensions due to the holidays and most stores will honor a longer exchange policy due to travel. We live an hour away from the closest Madewell store and after the holidays and traveling (which we did) January was a time to reset and get ready for the New Year. With that being said, I pleaded and explained that I was not looking for a refund or store credit and that I simply wanted to exchange for a larger size so that I could fit into a pair of jeans from a store I am a constant customer with. He said "policy is policy" and refused to honor the exchange. He then further went on to tell me that even if he had approved the exchange, the pants I brought in were no longer in store so I would not be able to exchange even if I was within the 30 days.I left the store feeling like I wasted my time and effort. I drove an hour to make the exchange and was turned down due to there stringent exchange policy. I was less then 30 days over the exchange date and was turned away with a pair of jeans that I could not wear because they were too small. All in all, I do not plan to purchase from Madewell in the future. I have always admired the jeans and quality but with such strict regulations on exchanges and this poor experience, I do not plan to purchase from this company in the future.

I just left here almost crying because the store manager (bald man) was so rude to me. I saw a shoe on display and asked if they had its pair as it was my size. He wouldn’t look for it but told me i could look through the piles of shoe boxes for it’s match. I asked if he could help me and he said no i was SOL. Will literally never return to this store.

Really wonderful service, even during the crazy Christmas rush. Kobe was especially great, and really went out of her way to be kind and helpful with sizing and styling advice. Thank you! :)

This is for the U-Village location. You'll need to drive around and walk into the shopping area, but the walk is worth it --- especially during the sales events.Staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and professionally helpful. They were intuitive, and the staff worked together to find the right fit! They carry clothing for both Men and Women but will have considerably more selections for women. The quality is very good for men's t-shirts.Women's jeans is where they shine. They can special order a pair if they don't have it in stock. They can also alter the hem, for the life of the jeans. They have discounts for those in the medical field and if you have a Madewell account. Also if you bring in a pair of jeans, they will credit you $50 and donate the jeans a non-profit.Midas 5-stars for the very collaborative staff and connection to the community service.

I normally don’t write bad reviews but WOW. Experienced such terrible service at this Madewell. The workers lacked awareness and were rude! I’ve worked retail plenty of times therefore I normally give people grace but the bad service was consistent with all of the workers working the closing shift that night. I came about 30 mins before closing. They had a shirt in the window that I couldn’t find in store so I asked for help. The cashier said that was the last one. It’s common sense in visual merchandising to not put a “last item” in the window. When I asked her what size it was, she just said she didn’t know. I had to explicitly asked for them to please check. She was still hesitant and made it obvious I was inconveniencing her. Ultimately she told me to try another shirt before she checks the size of that one. I had to ask another gal and she acted similarly. There was so much back and forth for no reason and I was the only customer in store.I almost didn’t want to buy anything because they really rubbed me the wrong way with their attitudes. No one even asked if I needed help when I was obviously confused and unable to locate something. Madewell in downtown Seattle has much better service! Everyone is usually welcoming and helpful at that location even if they’re closing in 10 minutes. Very disappointed at Madewell in U-Village.
