Michelle did a great job in taking a 1960's era 200 square foot bathroom and turning it into a classic with a timeless design and finishes. While she had a good vision for the end product, she listened and incorporated our important criteria into the final product. She also assisted in sourcing a reliable and quality contractor (Howard Freeman ). Michelle was always available throughout the process to clarify questions from us and the contractor and in the end, we ended up with a beautiful bathroom. (our iPhone picture does not do it justice)

Service? What service? Especially if the products are on back order. They say they'll call you back as soon as the stuff comes in. Yeah right. It's my third product that they have trouble with. So if you like something, make sure it's in a good condition and that you don't have to wait for the order.

Our general contractor, Blue Sound,, recommended that we engage Michelle to design built-ins for our bedroom. We are so glad that we did. We knew what functionality we wanted out of the built-ins. But we had no idea what they should look like. Michelle came in and talked to us and investigated our space. She quickly came back with a proposal that avoided some missteps we’d been planning, maximized use of available space, and integrated seamlessly with our 1901 home. The history buff in our family visited recently and complimented us on how “well-preserved” the built-ins were - ha, joke is on him! Our built-ins are drop-dead gorgeous, maybe the prettiest thing in our entire home. We aren’t exaggerating when we say that we appreciate Michelle every single day.

I am so glad that I thought to ask Michelle for help with the renovation of a triplex we purchased. It must be amazing to have Michelle’s ability to look at a space and immediately know exactly what it needs. She helped me maximize the rent potential of our property through changes to flooring, kitchen layout, and even small cosmetic tweaks while keeping a close eye on minimizing costs. And she is clearly in touch with not only the latest design trends but also what is going to endure and look good decades from now. I am always so thankful to have her guidance when I run into tough design decisions, as she always ensures that my renovation dollars are well spent. She is also a lot of fun to work with and I really appreciate her clear and direct communications style.

From a contractor's perspective, you couldn't ask for a better team to work with than Michelle Dirkse Interior Design. Their plans were thorough and complete, which may sound normal but in actuality is less common than you may think-- making contractors look bad and off the mark. Not so with Dirkse. Everything was abundantly clear and spec'd out, and when we had questions, their responses were prompt and effective. Our project manager still raves about what a seamless, enjoyable process it was to work with them. The end result is that an urban project that we anticipated being tricky to perform came in under budget and on time, with beautiful, sophisticated results. As builders, we covet using our skills to create lasting, artful projects and a satisfying building experience for clients, and with this team, we were able to achieve all that and more. --Ben at Blue Sound Construction, Inc.

We've worked with Michelle last year. We've been more than happy with the remodel of our lower floor. We were skeptical at hiring an interior designer at first worrying that they wouldn't get our style. Michelle, Kat and her team not only got what we were looking for but they've suggested styles and ideas that have grown so much on us and have helped bring the whole look/theme together so perfectly! We liked their whimsical touches as well as their practical suggestions! It's been over a year since we've finished the remodel and not a day goes by that we don't say how lucky we were to have hired the best and most professional team there could be!

I've worked with Michelle Dirkse and her team on the design of two retail stores. The quality of their work was phenomenal. Michelle and Kat took a lot of time up front to dial in a clear understanding of the nuanced look/feel we were shooting for, and then created a thoughtful design plan that captured it. I'd definitely say that our expectations were exceeded - and we got it done within our budget!

Michelle is an amazing designer. She was able to understand our style and what we were looking for right away, and in many cases influenced us to consider ideas that weren't in our initial vision. The result definitely exceeded our expectations! It's been a year since we remodeled our home, and we still love every part of it. Michelle's team is very competent and professional.

I called to get some design help. The cost per room? $6,400.00 not including any actual furniture or other items. That's just design work. For my little 2 bedroom 1 bath home the cost would be $38,400. plus tax. Oh. My. God. Michelle seemed offended at my shock and interrupted me to let me know they have a waiting list. I feel terrible for having offended her. I hope she recovers.

He seems to be annoyed by looking at art work. Curious for a designer.

We've worked with Michelle on three completed projects (living room, master bedroom, nursery) and are kicking off a fourth - furnishing an empty house for my in-laws who are relocating to Seattle.
