Northwest Film Forum is a small cozy theater and is far and away the coolest theater in town. It has a 70s-style living room lobby. This is the place to see what Seattle filmmakers are up to and get resources for a next project, with terrific theater programming and fun eclectic showings. They run great film festivals full of hidden gems and interesting movies and workshops. The screen isn't too big and the volume isn't too loud, which helps reduce sensory overload. The staff and volunteer staff are friendly and great. They sell popcorn and concessions, though there are no cup holders on the seats. The theater gets crowded and doesn't seem to have good ventilation, with masks required as of January 2024. This is where Seattle culture happens.
