Don’t rent from this company! There’s a reason why they have so many bad reviews. Customer service is atrocious. Beware of the service desk when checking in. They will add charges despite you verbally declining. Waited an hour and a half after my pick up time to get my rental. You never get a final receipt - only charge your credit card hoping you don’t notice the additional charges. If you try calling they hang up on you. Very shady business practices. Go through Enterprise instead.

No one at desk, has to call Avis manager who is even late for 2+ hours. One of the worst rental car experience.

You really gotta watch them and check your receipt at the beginning and fees and return your car on time! They triple charged me for being two hours after...but still early in the morning. Plus, they added insurance onto it for another $34 a day and they never told me the price and I'm pretty sure it got sneaked into there. When I called customer service about the second charge....they hung up on me when I told them they should charge me for two hours or an additional day not all three. The car was nice and was a brand new 2025 electric.

Do not rent from here. There’s a reason they’re cheap and have these reviews. They charged me a $250 cleaning fee months after the car was returned. There’s no way I returned the car in a condition that required any cleaning. I wish I had taken before and after photos but honestly didn’t think I would have to. This place is a scam who offers a cheaper up front cost but will tack on extra fees on the back end. NEVER renting from here again.

Charge excessive made up fees for no reason. You can wait on hold for hours trying to get this resolved and the call drops. No receipt for extra charges. Chargeback.

Terrifying customer service. I left keys in the vehicle (my fault), and was told they don’t even have access to the lost and found and even if they did, I need to submit a claim to somehow, someway get them back. I submitted a claim and now it’s been a week - no one has reached out. Also impossible to get ahold of over the phone.

I booked through amex and didn't have any issues. Everything, including the fees, were explained to me thoroughly on site, and the vehicle didn't have any issues. No hidden fees whatsoever. I was provided a receipt with the breakdown of the fees as well before I took the car.
Would've given them 5 stars if not for the toll pass convenience fee being slightly expensive.
Aside from that, everything went great. The male employee at the counter was helpful as well when I picked up my car.

What a SCAM!!!! Never rent from Payless. I was very clear when I opted out of purchasing insurance and provided my own insurance company information to the agent and he still charged me for the insurance and I have been dealing with them on a refund since June and it is August and I still haven't gotten my refund yet. Such a crooked company to do business with.....

Sucks! Two days rental, two times dead, every morning when we were going to drive , it was dead, out of battery power. Call you, always automatically machine, no real respond and help. In Mount Rainer Zone, I have to call car repair store myself, charged me 329. First day made me waste half day, second day made me 2hours delay of return. Sucks! The repair shop man plug out the location device and said that was probably the reason caused battery leakage, which I am not sure. by the way, the first pick up car is a no work engine car, luckily I was still in rental parking area and had chance to changed it, but I really can’t imagine the second one is still the same problem one! Try to email you, but no email address in official website. have to write here, hope you can see. Don’t let others to rental such problem car and make them in trouble

I usually go with Avis or Budget or Sixt for rental. In a desperate attempt to get a rental on a busy weekend I attempted to get a rental from Payless and it was a big mistake. Not only they put 100 conditions making me unable to get a car from them. After denying sevice they had the audacity to charge me for it. Their customer service is abysmal, don’t fall for it, this is a scam going on in the name of rental car agency.
