I went in looked around and was at the counter multiple times and neither the old white man or old white lady at the counter helped me or asked if i needed anything for that matter, but an asian woman came up to the counter on the other side and they ran to help her immediately. Racist establishment. Will never buy anything from there.

Our family relatives came to Seattle on their birthday vacation and they stopped by Pirates Plunder while they waited for us to find parking. They were rudely confronted and kicked out of Pirates Plunder for trying out hats?! ? by the manager of all people.. Don’t come here if you’re a POC because the Karen running the shop just might racially profile you and assume you’re stealing. What a terrible experience for us to have especially on one of our family member’s birthdays.

If i could give 0 stars i would. I never post/comment about anything bad about people or someone else’s maybe because they are just having a bad day. But this very very old grumpy lady (VALERIE) has the audacity to yell at my 3 year old son just trying to look at the things on her store. For crying out loud it’s just a child and was trying to have fun. He wasn’t even making a mess! Just being a normal kid having fun looking for cute things! This lady should’nt work here and i was wuite surprised that people avtually complained about her too! What a sad sad depressed lady she is!Never going back to this store again.Get a anger management class valerie!

Terrible experience. The manager yelled at my kid saying that he wasn’t gonna buy anything when we were there to buy stuff for his birthday and then got security because he tried on a hat places insane. Do not go.

They are always hiring for a reason. It’s a bad place to work and a worse place to (try to) shop. Forget what the sign in the door says, they close when they are tired of dealing with customers, which is about 15-ish minutes before the declared closing time as they’ll hustle you out.

Worst part of our Seattle vacation. The manager (Valerie) yelled at my 7 year old for not being with his parents (we were 10 feet away) and ripped a stuff animal away from him. He then went to get another one and was going to show us (we told him to pick something out) and before he could turn around and walk to us, she grabbed him and took it away and told him “his parents should be watching him”. After he ran to the corner nearby crying, our older son came and told us what happened. When confronted, I was told that “a good parent watches their kids in a store”. After a few choice words (you touch or yell at my kid, I lose my cool), I threw my over $100 worth of items we were going to purchase on the ground and stormed off. She is a bully and should not be in the retail business. Apparently I am not the only one who thinks that based on other reviews. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE!!

Decided to go into the store while waiting for The Crab Pot. The employee with super short great hair is extremely rude. My wife told my daughter we weren't going to buy anything over there (referring to one section of the store). The employee walked up to my 4 year old daughter and snatched the bucket hat out of her hand as she was just standing there looking around and said "I don't want it to get dirty." Now knowing that we were planning to buy it. My wife then said come on it's time to go then the employee in a loud voice said "ohhhhh, I offended them." Loud enough for everyone to turn around in the store and look. Then my wife said you don't have to be rude about it and snatch stuff out of my daughters hands. The lady would giggling and saying I wasn't being rude. Snatching an item out of a kids hands without saying anything to her is not the way to react to a customer just standing there holding something. Then to say that so loud about being offended is ridiculous. Lady is such a joke. Wish I would've seen her grab that from my daughters hand. Interesting store with basic bottom end stuff but the crappy employee made it a shit experience. Would give it a no star.

The manager, Valerie, is extremely unprofessional, and her unwarranted attitude made for a very poor experience. We had just eaten at The Crab Pot with visiting family and were wearing our silly crab hats. There are novelty pens at this shop that feature pinching crab claws when clicked. So naturally, we thought we needed to hold the crab claw pens while wearing our crab hats for a quick vacation video. It was my younger nephew’s first time traveling out of state. From around the corner, we heard a voice tell us to stop clicking the pens, and that “it’s annoying”. When stepping around to see the person that spoke, they said “that’s not what the pens are meant for” and once again, reminded us that we were being annoying.I get it. I’m sure the clicking can be annoying, but I am fairly certain a kitschy pen that has pinchers on one end is meant for more than just writing. It's meant for occasional goofiness that involves a little clicking now and then. Perhaps she was having a bad day (we all do), perhaps she had even heard those pens clicked hundreds of times already that day, but as a manager you are held to a higher standard and at the very least are expected to remain professional and courteous. Her response was pretty childish. We were only in the shop for several minutes. She did tell us her name, and we were surprised when we grabbed a card on the way out titling her as a manager. This is a gift shop in a tourist-laden area. If you can't get onboard with a little frivolity and families snapping memories then perhaps you need to re-evaluate your position or stay behind the scenes where you won't encounter more "annoying" customers.

I adore this shop. Yes, they have your traditional Seattle souvenirs, but they also have really unique and fun items you won't find down on the water or in the market. I especially love they they sell Native Northwest (Art by Indigenous Artists). I'm a local and pop in here whenever I'm down on the water.

Staff are not welcoming, which would have made up for their overpriced goods
