The front of house staff are always so sweet and friendly, but the quality of care here is inconsistent and too often bad. It seems to stem from hiring mostly new grads, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but the corporate training and treatment new staff are subjected to seems to be creating patterns.- They implanted the wrong chip in my cat, got it mixed up with someone's dog- One of the vets used "desert dweller" as a slur when describing how the staff walked around with towels on their necks due to lack of AC- They are eager to prescribe medications and treatments instead of training recommendations, twice writing prescriptions that our cats did not need after getting 2nd and 3rd opinions- When one of our cats was overweight, two different vets here prescribed two different calorie recommendations, based on all the same logic and data (the 2nd one literally provided me the sheet they go off of)We went to this place several times over the period of two years, and while the individuals here are good people at heart, the quality of care is just not there. We have moved on.

We love this vet clinic - hands down the best experience we've had. We love the front desk staff, the nurses, and the vets - we truly feel like everyone here is invested in the care and wellbeing of our senior dog. We really liked our old vet and clinic in Ballard, and were sad to have to find new care on this side of town when we moved, but Ravenna Animal Hospital has exceeded our exceptions. We've always felt like the recommendations for care are conservative and there's never an "up sell" for any services - in fact, one vet deterred me from a more costly procedure until we learned more. A place that really builds trust with patients and puts pets first. Would whole heartedly recommend.

As an animal lover and an animal right activist, who is deeply involved in animals wellbeing, I am super sensitive and aware when it comes to animals. Dr Mortimer 's skills and knowledge is truly unmatched for me and ppl that I know. Unfortunately not all vets are the same :( some should not even be practicing! They literally make your babies sicker !

This is by far the worst animal hospital I've ever been to. First of all, they completely ignored my financial situation- I am a student who adopted a senior cat. I knew that I was accompanying him on the last phase of his life and wanted to give him as much love as possible. They kept suggesting me send him to a heart and kidney specialist whose downpayment are >400 dollars each. One of these was a heart specialist for a murmur, over an hour drive away, consultation there was almost 500 and an echocardiogram was almost 700 dollars. They also tried to convince me that they HAD to do his bloodwork every month (a 500 dollar expense) in order to refill the prescription to treat his chronic condition. Eventually I found out this wasn't true, but still had to leverage my financial situation in order for them to refill the prescription. This was all when I first got him, recently my cat got very sick. When I took him in (specifically for blood work this time,) the vet told me he had an infection but they wouldn't be able to get in contact with the vet on a holiday weekend (December 30 mind you, not a holiday yet, and they have 3 VETS!) and they didn't know when they'd be able to prescribe him antibiotics. At this point he hadn't eaten in days, and I was at my last straw. When I took him to another vet I fully realized the scope of Ravenna Animal Hospital's incompetence. The new vet told me that the Vet's hadn't added one note to his chart about HIM, the only notes were things I had said to the vet about him, unusual for a patient of about 9 months. They also told me that the last blood test I had with them had a completely incorrect interpretation, that it seemed like they forgot to reference his previous issues before determining what was unusual about the test. I found out that not only does my cat have lung cancer, but metastatic lung cancer of an unknown origin. I am overcome with the feeling that if they had spent 5 more minutes with my cat each visit, that they would've become aware of one of his underlying symptoms. I found out that rapid weight gain can be a symptom of his cancer, and his adorable little coughs likely were as well. They also told me they didn't hear a heart murmur! I leave this review to warn people away from a place that didn't take the time to care for my cat and tried their best to take as much money from me as possible. The vet techs are kind and professional, but don't be fooled, this place is run the opposite of how a vet clinic should me.

Very disorganized and insufficient level of pet care.My goldendoodle is almost 12 and has been super healthy her whole life - the only "health" issue she has is some lumps and bumps around her body that need tracking to make sure they aren't growing aggressively and potentially cancerous. We had our first appt at Ravenna Animal Hospital a year ago and they charted the size and location of her bumps at that time. I just brought her back for her yearly checkup and Dr. De could not locate the chart from the year before during the appt. She randomly measured a few bumps and later after I had gone home, found the chart and wrote me an email saying one lump had grown (unclear which one it was since we weren't in the room together looking at the lump due to the issue just mentioned) and recommended a needle aspirate and cytology. I brought my dog back in to get the needle aspirate and to meet with Dr. De, which the receptionist had told me would be the case when I scheduled the appt. The tech came out and told me Dr. De wasn't available and they also could not identify which lump to do the needle aspirate on and asked me which one it was. I'm still not confident that they did the needle aspirate on the correct lump or if the lump had even grown to begin with. I'm unfortunately left very uneasy and have very low confidence in the level of care they are able to provide at this clinic. I will not be going back.

We are long-time users of Ravenna's services. We have consistently found a high level of professional care backed by a caring team.

We brought our cat Diamond in to be euthanized because she was desperately ill and nonresponsive. Dr. De looked at her, called the previous vet for test results and said "These are very good vitals for such an apparently ill animal. I wonder if she's unable to clear the painkillers she was given. I have some ideas we could try if you want." We tried the ideas she recommended and nursed Diamond back to health--she's still with us months later. Dr. De went SO far beyond expected care here, really made a big effort to save an animal who could so easily have been written off. We're deeply grateful.

Have had such a fantastic experience with everyone we’re encountered here. Incredibly courteous and responsive reception staff, caring and knowledgeable technicians and veterinarians. Transparent pricing and billing. So lucky to have found!

My dog typically goes to the Northwest Veterinary Hospital, but she got sick over a holiday weekend & the Ravenna Animal Hospital was able to see her within 30 minutes. My dog is reactive and very anxious at the vet, but everyone helped both her & I feel as comfortable as possible. Staff was friendly, understanding, and accommodating. The vet clearly explained several different options for care and provided enough information for me to feel like I was able to make a well informed choice. I really appreciated both the professionalism & the approachable communication.

Edited: five stars to three stars. I really do miss Dr. Donovan being here full time. I don’t believe I will take our dogs here again any time soon as I learned there were some important or rather fundamental things missed during our last visit in regards to the reason I scheduled the appointment in the first place. Maybe these were a miscommunication I’m not sure and it’s not worth risking my best friend’s health to find out. Since this was the second instance of that happening at this clinic I am not comfortable negating the likelihood this will reoccur (albeit the first was 4 years ago).I’m unable to recommend at this time and to those I have recommended to over the years, if you are satisfied with the care your animal is receiving please do not consider this review a rebuke of this clinic. It’s just not meeting our specific needs at this time. One highlight is that the scheduling associate is amazing! I’m sad Dr. Donovan isn’t here full time anymore, given his status as “The Frenchie Whisperer”.

Came here in a sad emergency situation (we encountered a cat that had been hit by a car) and they were very kind and took us back quickly since it was an emergency. Very grateful for their help and sense of urgency given the situation.

Dr. Neal is fabulous with my reactive special needs dog. She takes the time to answer all my questions and is very understanding of my dogs behavior. The whole team is amazing!
