The white guy with glasses at self check out always just stands so close to me and stares while I scan and pay for my items. He never greets just stares and it makes me feel really uncomfortable. He does this all the time. It's rude and bias behavior.

I like the staff, the products are fresh, the price tags are always changed on time, the cashiers are smiling.

I walk into the store and I see a clerk in the produce section, so I nicely try to ask her a question - but she cuts me off rudely and says with a scowl on her face, "I'm on my break", and then just turns around and walks away. In the check-out line I notice another customer ask the same clerk a question but she just walks by and ignores them (which i don't mind, because there were other staff nearby). So I told the sales clerk of the experience I just had with their employee in the produce aisle, saying that I'm not trying to cause any trouble and I know their job is hard but I don't think it's appropriate for Safeway staff to rudely speak to customers who just have a simple question - we don't know they're on their break (I worked as grocery checker for about 8 years so I know it's not an easy job). The clerk's reply was that it's unrealistic of me to expect a person on their break to treat me nicely when their not on the clock (he gave examples that if I ran into him shopping at another store, does he have to treat me nicely and the answer is no because he's off the clock just like he is when he's on his break at Safeway - this is a horrible example by the way, because I don't expect a Safeway employee dressed in a Safeway outfit to answer my questions at a QFC). I said I had no idea the employees on their break and they could just say nicely - I'm sorry, but I'm on my break they don't have to be rude. The manager who was listening then interjected that I was wrong. She also said that I should not expect their staff to answer questions when they're on their break or treat me nicely when they're not on the clock. It's sad that so many Safeway staff thinks it appropriate to treat customers rudely when they are on their breaks or when customers try to report poor service. I just had a hard/long at day at work myself (my elderly Mom is sick) so I do not need rude comments from Safeway staff (I was just trying to get a bag of lettuce but their shelves were bare of most produce items today). I reported their poor customer service policy to corporate management, but I really doubt they care. The fact that Safeway will post an automated reply to this review (letting me know I can forward this complaint to corporate) when I already have) shows that they didn't read it and basically hire anyone. All the other grocery stores in this area have a 3 to 4 star review s in Yelp but Safeways average 2 stars.

Edit: updating to two stars because it’s not the pharmacists’ fault they’re understaffed, and they do deserve a lunch break! And they did, after several calls, get me the meds by 7:55 pm before closing.Such a mess. The first time I came, pharmacy wasn’t open yet. The second time, there was a thirty minute line and I had to leave. Third time, closed for lunch. I’m in a lot of pain, thanks Safeway! I will be calling my insurance to ask if I can use a different pharmacy, this place is not it.

The deli department seems understaffed. Most days, you can stand at the counter waiting in excess of 5-10 minutes for someone to take your request. No ring for service bell or anything. Like dang, I wanted to make some sandwiches, but I guess not....

I got this cookie and it was supposed to be snickerdoodle and it was peanut butter. Honest mistake I’m sure but that could literally kill someone allergic to nuts. Do better.

Safeway is a contradiction in terms. I think never have I felt safe walking in or out of one of these fine grocers. However, I can count on the fact that they will carry decent variables of plastic coated foods, both organic and non, and that the layout of the Safeway enterprise is a maze of confusion and disdain, much like IKEA. However I'm hungry, it's almost late, so I consume what I may. Thanks Safeway, you make the poison we consume fun to obtain!

This has been my 3rd negative experience... however it is always with the deli so maybe I should just avoid that side of the store. Who I'm I kidding the food is good and super convenient so I won't. The people be hind the counter are just plain rude this time the woman? Slammed what I ordered onto of the glass case when she did that a smaller bag slid off the glass counter top to the ground. Didn't apologize or say anything just stood there smiling the other 2 times was with a different woman behind the counter but I looked at the woman next toe and she gave me the nod yup she is being super rude it's not in your head. Awww gentrification well well she didn't agree to that but it is definitely a factor. I must of upset her when I asked for a normal piece of chicken not a dried out or tiny one. They(anyone in the deli any time) we're not even giving kind friendly service to anyone as I watched her service 2 other people. SAD

My recent visit to Safeway with my close to 90-year-old father for a scheduled vaccine appointment was a shocking disaster. The level of incompetence and blatant disregard for their customers' well-being is truly infuriating. Adding insult to injury, we had received an email reminder just the day before the appointment, further highlighting the magnitude of their incompetence and lack of organizational coordination.Upon arriving at the store, we were shocked to learn that they did not have the vaccine available, and what's worse, there was no apology or even a hint of empathy from the staff. It's baffling and utterly unacceptable that a well-known retailer like Safeway could fail so egregiously in fulfilling a critical vaccine appointment, especially for an elderly individual who needed it for their health and safety. The complete absence of accountability and professionalism exhibited by the Safeway staff during this visit was appalling and deeply distressing. Our time was callously wasted, and the utter lack of respect for the gravity of the situation and the impact on my vulnerable father was nothing short of heartbreaking. Their disregard for our time and the subsequent inconvenience caused is beyond justification.

This store was far too cold for me, and even after returning to my car for a jacket I had to leave without finishing my shopping based on that discomfort. It was also one of the pricer Safeways I've seen in the Seattle area, but considering the area that can't be helped.

I love this Safeway and it is always well stocked and clean. However I’m writing this review after going in today at the customer service desk and had a bad experience. The manager whom is an Asian small lady was extremely rude to me for wanting to do two separate transactions in order to get cash back. Hope this behavior can be rectified because it doesn’t look good for the stores reputation.

Incredibly rude male manager ( I assume it was a manager) his t-shirt may say that love is love but dude maybe don't talk down to your customers when they are just trying to explain what happened. The Starbucks employee was awesome and lovely though!

Such a dirty, dirty store. Doesn't matter what time of day you walk in, there's always trash on the floor. They're a little better about having baskets available for shopping but still, the store seems understaffed and morale doesn't seem great. I remember when Safeway was a nice place to shop and it doesn't seem like that long ago but boards nowadays it seems like the best thing to do is just to get in, find what you need (if they even have it) and get out.PS. Safeway management: if you're reading this. STEP UP, AND TAKE SOME PRIDE IN YOUR PEOPLE AND YOUR STORE. IT'S DISGUSTING!!!

Unfortunately, this is my local Safeway. When I don't have time to go to a further location I am forced to shop here. Not only is the staff (mainly the main manager, I believe his name is Renton) incredibly rude, they are also impossible to find if you ever need assistance. Want to quickly speed through self check out? Good luck! Not once, but 4 times in the last month and a half have I had to wait 5+ minutes for the self check out attendant to "fix" my transaction. I know I will receive a, "we're sorry to hear you had a negative experience" BS response which seems to be the standard on the multiple bad reviews this Safeway has gotten. If you can, shop somewhere else!
