The quality of product isn’t worth the price. This location is either always out of stock or the groceries & packaging are in poor condition!! For how expensive groceries are this shouldn’t be acceptable, hate this location.

I don't know the full story but seeing your security shove an elderly lady to the floor makes me not want to shop here anymore

What drops this Safeway is the level of customer service and policy-based unwelcome feeling. The layout and structure of the store is far superior to the one it replaced, and i couldn't wait for it to reopen, as I'm a block away. That said, this video from December 2 demonstrates how ridiculous the compelled self-checkout policy has gotten. If you have more than one person on the floor (you had six) capable of checking out customers, they should be at the counters relieving this bottleneck. This should NEVER happen. To drive this point further home, one phrase I should NEVER hear from a floor manager or clerk is " I don't have time" when I need assistance retrieving an item, and that's what I got from your tall, pony-tailed gentleman this past Thursday. Your milk door was broken, so the 2% wasn't visible. Clerk couldn't find it, so he asked manager. I myself actually saw it was moved over, but pushed back so it was unreachable. It just required a pole or stick to push the product down to be visible. Your guy was like, "I don't have time for that." Time for what? To do something other than stand your lazy butt around? All you were doing was standing around self checkout WATCHING patrons, like everyone else. I come to expect this after 7, but there were no checkout lines open at 4:30 despite plenty of personnel. I'll still patronize, but only if I'm in a pinch. I'll take the bus to QFC or walk extra blocks to Trader Joe's because they value their customers enough to not try to extract their labor as well as their money.

They have a lot of food options here and their deli is fantastic! I've been here probably around 30 times and I've had great experiences with the workers each time I've visited. Their security works very diligently as well, so huge props to them!

We were eating at Cedars across the street, and we spotted this Safeway location. We need a few items, so we just walked over. The place is brightly lit, which is always a plus. Things seem to be clean and in good shape. There weren't any homeless people gathering outside as other mentioned. There was one questionable guy pushing an empty cart around and around, but hey, there's no law against that, right? The place was roomier than I expected given it's an urban locale. For the most part, it seems to have all the basics. They have a dedicated deli area and some basic florals. We found the few items we needed easy enough, did a self-checkout, and left. We didn't talk to anyone, as we didn't need service.

Excellent store. The nice man helped me when I got lost in the adult drink section. He even gave me a manual on how to use the store! Excellent food per dollar value: 4.7

This new Safeway in the University district is just ok. I liked the one near U Village much better and am sad to see that one close. This U district Safeway does have ample parking downstairs, but found the blasting hip hop music from the garage speakers uncharacteristic of a Safeway. The people hanging out in front of the store are a little sketch as well. I do prefer Safeway over QFC, since their inventory is better and more consistent.

I was there on what I thought would be an "idle" Tuesday night. There was nothing idle about it. The high number of university students shopping was ridiculous. The aisles were difficult to navigate due to the sheer volume of foot traffic, and the timesaving self-checkout was anything but. Their cereal selection is sub-par at best, and the main reason I gave it a paltry 2.6 (had to round up to 3) rating was because the only gallon milk they had was skim and organic. They carry the other ones but the shelves were completely void of those. It's a nice store but I was surprised by how narrow of a selection there was.If I had to say something positive, then I'd say it'd be a good place for a younger single person to shop. Get yourself a different type of meat while standing in line at the meat dept, if you get my drift.I just was not satisfied with my overall experience at the new Safeway though, and I'm probably going to stick with shopping at the other location.

Absolutely love this place. It’s clean & staff are friendly. And truly appreciate this location being open till 1am. It’s a rare occurrence in city when a location that actually sell food. And special they have are on point. I will be doing attending this location for my current & future shopping.

Out of what I came for. Nothing has changed since remodel. Wasted my time yet again. Inconveiniently far walk from bus stops.

This cashier tried to kick me out because he didn't like hearing about how his self checkout machines could accept cash.

Some cashier in a red cougars jersey was screaming at a homeless guy to get out when he was trying to pay for something to drink. All dude wanted was to pay and go.

This Safeway is great. It has a covered outdoor eating area right off the deli entrance. This is one of the most clean Safeways I've ever been in. If you're here from another state or country, you know it's impossible to find a public restroom in Seattle, but this Safeway boasts 2 extra large public restrooms for people in need. Overall 5 stars their customer service has always been top notch, on top of a clean store and covered outdoor eating area makes me wish I lived in the university district.

Finally a nice safe way for the area. Prices are always changing but it’s nice to have a grocery store that’s close and affordable. The sushi they have here is amazing made fresh daily.
