Beware! Salal credit union would send you deceiving statement with different due date to trick you into paying late. This was what they did to me, sending me statement with date later than my no interest due date. Naturally I went with the statement date instead of checking the contract, since I thought it would be the same. Now they refused to undo the interest that was levied on my account. Basically scammed me of my money.Do not do business with this company! Scam artist is what they are!

I have been banking at Salal for years, but recently have become frustrated with the customer service and closure of local branches, so I've switched most of my banking to another bank and haven't kept much of a balance here. Recently I accidentally made a mortgage payment from this account instead of my other bank, which overdrew my account. I was hit with a $29 fee, which I understand and accept. I set up a link from my main bank account to salal so I could transfer money to cover the deficit, and as part of the linking process my bank made two small deposits (adding up to $1.03) to Salal for verification and then withdrew the $1.03, resulting in a second $29 fee. When I called this morning about it, the person I talked to said a fee is a fee and there's nothing she can do about it. She suggested that instead of linking the banks to make an electronic transfer, I should have gone in person to my other bank to withdraw cash, then go find a Salal affiliated ATM machine to deposit it. I don't have time for that and I think anyone could agree that a one dollar procedural deposit and immediate withdrawal is different than overspending. Solidified my decision that this is not the kind of bank I want to work with. The call ended with her saying, "I'm sorry you feel that way. Would you like me to lodge a complaint on your behalf?" Really frustrating to see how the customer experience has degenerated so much over the last 10 years.

Not so happy that I got stuck in Italy because they blocked my account and I couldn’t get ahold of anyone and still I can’t get into my account by phone to get my balance right now’ saying my name is not valid after 50 years of being a member

Yet again Salal messed up what should have been a simple but very simple financial transaction with my mortgage. I’m beyond frustrated with this organization and the incompetence at managing my money. I have been making over payments on my mortgage which I’ve been assured would be applied to my principal which I trusted and guess what, when I checked my statements closely, which clearly I should have been doing many months ago because you have to double check everything with Salal and can’t expect them to follow through with accuracy no - not 100% of my overpayments have been going on my principal - they’ve been shaving off some. Now I’m not on track to be done when I turn 60 and have huge expenses of my twins turning 18 and going to college. I’m kicking myself for not checking sooner. They messed up my home purchase, my heloc application, so many examples. Ridiculous. They better fix this.

Friendly, warm, welcoming and knowledgeable! Other than the tight parking spaces/garage, Salal at Northgate has always provided professional and competent service.

I went to Salal Credit Union -Northgate Branch today to make a loan payment and set up automatic payments. Steve greeted me and completed my transaction in no time. He was funny, respectful, knowledgable, and quick. He was awesome! Overall a very pleasant experience!

My husband applied a loan and it takes a while to process them. They will never update you unless you are the one who make the follow up. They even make excuses that they're busy thats why it takes some time. I am very disappointed and very unprofessional.

After a bad summer my wife's mother having a stroke and my wife quitting her job to take care of her, then her mother dying, I found myself a little stretched thin financially.I needed a small personal loan to bring things up to date and I thought perhaps a consolidation loan would bring down my monthly payments so I went to apply.It took several days for them before they put things together, during which time I did not receive a phone call even after being promised, the email that was promised never came and I got no call back when leaving a message.By the time my application went to the underwriter a week had gone by. When they contacted me after waiting a couple days for an answer the offer they gave me was that they would consolidate my debt with no additional funds and at the same amount I'm already paying per month only for 3 years, whereas some of that debt is nearly fully paid at this point making the loan offer worse than the existing debt.I wasted a week and had a hard pull on my credit for nothing but more stress.I've been with this bank for over ten years and will not waste my time when I go to refinance my house.There are a lot of banks out there willing to work with me it's just to bad mine isn't one of them.

This bank treats its customers like humans. In person interactions are always pleasant, and it’s easy to get through on the phone. Whenever I have had a problem they work to solve it.

Salal Credit Union - Northgate teller was so helpful I needed to temporarily card and they helped me. I love coming to this credit union.
