Seven days a week this city of Seattle facility is the go to place for buying or renewing dog, cat, pig and goat annual licenses. But the most popular reason to visit is for people interested in the pet adoption program. The person handling licenses was very friendly, helpful and thorough. She suggested how to buy a license at the neutered discount rate and happily explained options. And she explained about the upcoming community event sponsoring free spay/neuter/vaccine and other medical services. EXCELLENT customer service.

Great people. Unlike some of the larger shelters, you won't get see all the animals before hand. Instead, you can find one from website listing and schedule a meeting with the animal. This way the animals are actually less disturbed.

I am a volunteer at the Seattle Animal Shelter. My experience with staff and volunteers is very positive. That endorsement goes from top to bottom of city's management. People there provide the best care for the full range of critters coming through the facility. I also give to the nonprofit supporting the organization.

Got a tour of this wonderful facility today and got to meet all of the terrific people who work there, as well as some of the dogs & cats. What a great place, obviously run by people who take great care of the animals.Special thanks to our tour guide, Aimee Zimmerman!

Lovely cats, volunteers and procedures in place. Though we walked in and front desk was all full of workers they simple ignored us and avoided eye contact. Til 10 minutes later we poked around and someone then told us to wait for someone available to show us around. Continued poking around to the cat side and was greeted immediately brought in the cat room to see the kitties signed some forms. Huge difference between whos volunteering and actual workers?

4.5 years ago, I adopted a cat named Meow. Now his name is HAL 9000 and he works as my live-in therapist. If it feels like there's someone missing in your life, they might be an animal.

I brought my dog here for a spay and to get her shots sorted. The people working were so kind and reassuring! I was anxious about dropping off my high anxiety dog, but they didn’t seem worried at all! They were very informative and friendly upon pick-up. If you are concerned about your dog being anxious, they will ease your worries within moments of walking in! My dog was not as easily swayed, but in the end, she did just fine!
