Seattle credit union used to be a fantastic bank, but things have changed tremendously over the years. The staff is nice, which is why I'm giving it two stars instead of one. We have their rewards credit card and the service center behind this card is a disaster. We've had numerous problem with them and have spent hours on the phone. I had an incident with a purchase that I made (fraudulent website). I realized it immediately and called the bank. They said it wouldn't go through and cancelled the card. Well, it did go through even after going through the hassle of cancelling the card. Yesterday we received a fraud alert for a legitimate charge and my husband approved the charge. The continued to decline the card. So, I had to use a different card (Bank of America). We've had more and more issues with the banks services (loan department). If we did not have our mortgage at a very low rate with them, we would be moving to a different bank. It's unfortunate that they do not listen to customer feedback and take action.

Beware do not use this credit Union customer service is a complete joke. It’s been over a month since my car‘s been totaled. The bank has a letter of guarantee from my insurance and I purchased gap coverage through them so they know they’re getting paid off yet they will not give me another loan until it’s paid off And I’ve been out of the car for a very long time now I’ve been fired from my job because I can’t get back to Seattle because I’m stuck in Portland because I can return my rental car and after extending my vacation for an additional month I have no more money to get a rental . Then the bank tells me it’s gonna take an additional 2 to 3 weeks for gap to process but probably 3 to 4 weeks because of the holidays so they’re gonna take an additional month to pay off themselves from a service that I bought with them that doesn’t make any sense to me, they refuse to give me another loan and they refuse to transfer me to somebody that makes decisions about my loan so I can talk with them about the situation that’s going on all they do is hang up on me. This is the third time I’ve been hung up on , you got a put me on hold and then it hangs up is absolutely ridiculous and I highly advise you to go to your local loan shark because he will give you more customer service in this place. Well it is disgusting and if I had the money out hired attorney because this does not seem legal for them to do this , I am so fed up with the banking system and insurance after this experience I don’t understand what the point of purchasing something so expensive if you’re still gonna go bankrupt in the end

Customer service agent was not helpful at all i took the time to come in and was helped by a hispanic woman. She basically said she didn't have the information i was inquiring for. The woman next to her was dress very unprofessional and had customers waiting to be helped. I'd like to see a more appropriate dress code since its a bank institution. Do better!!

the manager at the Burien branch, Mathew W. Is very unprofessional, very immature, a very lousy person to oversee personal accounts, especially personal information and money, this bank will freeze your entire account just to prove a point, I was in constant contact with them about my accounts i make my payments and they see that, but to freeze access to my entire account, when I need the money for a family emergency and they won't unfreeze it until I talk to someone but they don't have a 24hr line, if it was fatal I would sue.

Probably the worst lending department I have ever dealt with. Unfortunately SCU is not a real credit union, but a for-profit institution that calls itself one. Avoid SCU and go BECU! SCU does not care about its members and does not hold any credit union values. Essentially the same as a large bank conglomerate at this point (which was not the case when I joined over 15 years ago).

I have the victim of a very sophisticated scam that led to the theft of $9000. From my checking account. It has been nearly two weeks without any clear information on what they are going to do. I have been unable to speak with anyone in power and, as you can imagine, on top of the trauma of the theft, the lack of communication by SCU has been excruciating. I have been both a business and person customer for years and this is simply the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I am not wealthy. I cannot afford to lose this much money. Frankly I am holding on by a thread. At this point I would recommend that anyone considering banking with SCU go elsewhere.

I was buying a car, and the dealer offered financing that was not competitive. From the dealer, I filled out the form on Seattle CU's site, I called them, was quickly preapproved, had a docusign with the agreement sent to me that night, and I completed the transaction the next business day. They were fast, convenient, answered my questions, and the rate was very competitive. Thanks to Melisa Biscayno who was my main point of contact.

This is my first time with a car loan through Seattle credit Union and first impression is not so great. My last bank took the payments out automatically on the 9th and all I had to do was make sure there was money in the account. Switching over I had no idea how to pay or if they would just take it out of my account. When I went to pay my bill online I was confused with how high it was but the lady on the phone said there was a late fee that she would wave so I thought that was a part of why it was so high. It turns out I'm paying for 2 months instead of one because that's how they automatically set it up since most of their customers like it that way. They don't understand how this is confusing to new customers since it says that twice the amount is due on that day. Picture for clarification.

I'm changing my review. Lynnwood branch has moved and, get this, THEY NO LONGER HAVE TELLERS!!! All your transactions are via machines. Of which today THEY'RE NOT EVEN WORKING!!! Good god. I talk about service below in downtown Seattle but if they still have tellers they're a step above Lynnwood. If all of Seattle CU is going this way, though, we're going elsewhere WHAT A JOKE. We bank in Lynnwood and love it. The people are very friendly and fast. Unlike the downtown branch. Why the heck does it take so long to get someone in the phone? Anyone ever thought maybe they need to hire more phone people? When you work and have to speak with someone, you can't wait 30-60 minutes on hold. It is ridiculous!! And horrendous service. A lot of people can't go to a branch and are dependent on the phone. To not get any service is a deplorable business practice. I sure hope someone shares this with someone higher up regarding providing service. Get with the program, SCU. Otherwise your membership count WILL go down. Todays public doesn't have patience for inept companies or service.

Save yourself the frustration and expense and DO NOT OPEN AN ACCOUNT HERE. Seattle Credit Union keeps going downhill. I've been waiting for about 5 hours now for a call back on a mistake they made. I got a cashier's check for my rent and the money was never deducted from my account. Now, they won't return my calls and emails. ATMs are always broken. Tellers are often unable to complete transactions. Customer service is non-existent. Seattle Credit Union is definitely taking advantage of the pandemic to squeeze fees out of us. Making appointments to deposit is really inconvenient. Your ATM machines are always broken or don't accept cash or money orders, but they sure as hell don't have a moratorium on overdraft fees. Don't open an account here if you can help it.

The loan process is awful. The only way that you receive an update is if you email. Then once you email, you fi d that they need "something" else. Even with getting them requested documents with 24 hours of request the process still took over two months. I took my tax returns into a branch to have them scan them and send to the loan processor only to find out that they could not find the documents that they scanned and I had to go in and scan and send them again.
