I'm only giving 3 stars for Dr. McHaffie who is amazing. he has been so patient and willing to do whatever to ensure my cat was taken care of. I would give him 5 stars alone if I could..the other doctor though..Dr. Goraya is awful. He has terrible communication skills and every encounter with him he has left details out making the whole process ten times harder than it needed to be. I would advise if you do go here to only seek help from Dr. McHaffie as he is the only one I trust and my mom has said the same for her dogs care as well.

Everyone at South Seattle Veterinary Hospital was welcoming and helpful. They did a great job of checking in our sick cat, getting her tested, and the doctor explained exactly what was going on with her. They kept their promise to call us in the morning to report on how she was doing, and when we arrived to pick her up, the doctor talked to us more in-depth about her health issue, the medications we would be giving her, and how they will help her. When the nurse brought out the medications, she also explained how to administer them. They are all friendly and thoughtful, and didn't mind getting an extra phone call from me to double check on how I was giving the medication. We will definitely go back if we have another pet emergency (fingers crossed that we won't have to, but if we do we know we'll be in good hands).

PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!Please don’t make the same mistake I did.Keep calling other vets to find legitimate care.If other emergency vets are full, there is a reason this place has room. This place is unethical, inept, and predatory - THEIR GO-TO IS TO KEEP A PET OVERNIGHT TO DRIVE UP COSTS & CREATE A FACADE THEY ARE DIAGNOSING, BUT ARE NOT.Your pet is worth a longer drive somewhere else…and you’ll likely need go to another emergency vet for actual professional care like I did when I pulled my dog from their facility in the middle of the night.Reporting to BBB and other state agencies. They should lose their license to practice.

Do not take your pet here. They have very predatory practices and lie about practically everything. Anyone is able to tell they have a protocol of no matter the situation they aim to try to keep your pet as long as possible to charge you as much as possible. The Vet Owner responding to the other reviews with disgusting back handed remarks is very telling that you should not trust this place with your animals.

I’ve only had positive experiences at this vet. Staff has always been kind and I feel like they price fairly and anre upfront about all costs. Wait time varies as they prioritize based on the severity of the cases that come in.

Was recommended this place by a friend for my very large pup with some issues. They were able to get me in quick and felt normal people who gave my dog lots of love and treated everything I needed

$500 in the door, or they wouldn't see me. Offered me a credit card to pay for the visit. Makes sense that this place is so expensive when there's a brand new 4 door dual motor Tesla sitting in the parking lot. My regular vet cost $150 for the same services. This vet won't do payment plans either, which is why they offered me a credit card that was offered by a third party. That means they're getting kickbacks, and they're still charging an arm and a leg for services. I was denied the credit card (of course I was), and that's where the refusal to see me kicked in. It basically amounted to, "too broke? There's the door." Their excuse for not offering payment plans is, "too many people weren't paying their bills." I mean, that sucks, but every other vet I spoke to about this place said, "wow, you went there? Don't go there. They didn't offer a payment plan? Eeeeee... Yeah, stay away from there."Not recommended unless you have literally nowhere else to go, and aren't cash strapped. Otherwise they wish you the best of luck, regardless of the emergency.Nice guys, real nice..

We had a really great experience at South Seattle Veterinary Hospital and we are so glad we came here for the treatment of our Chihuahua, Ambrose. Our Chihuahua, Ambrose, had an allergic reaction and some gastrointestinal issues. He had been misdiagnosed at a previous Veterinarian's office just a few days before. Dr. James McHaffie was absolutely incredible with our little baby dog. They took him in the back and examined him and Dr. McHaffie came in and told us what was wrong and advised what to do next. He thoroughly explained the cost of everything to us, and explained why the tests and such were needed. We felt he was very thorough in his diagnosis and treatment plan. The front desk staff was also very courteous and polite and gave great customer service. I asked for the medical records to file a pet insurance claim. They initially told me that normally medical records requests take 4-5 days. However, when Sarah from the clinic text me the day after the visit to ask how Ambrose was doing, I told her about the medical records, and how I needed them sooner rather than later. She gave the Veterinarian a note for me, and I was able to get the records quickly. I highly recommend South Seattle Veterinary Hospital and Dr. McHaffie for your Veterinary needs.

We brought our cat here with a broken foot on a weekend even though it was far away because they where the only vet with a shorter than 5 hour wait time. At the end of the day, and in all honesty, i would have rather let my beloved cat suffer another night then taken him to this vet. It was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. I cant even get into details because it is so aggravating. DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMALS TO THIS VET!

Terrible. This was one of the worst experiences of my life. My cat was having urinary issues, but his symptoms were not explicit, especially since I caught it so early. They took my cat back without me and I could hear him screaming. I was brought into a room with just myself and Dr. McCaffe. I am a young woman. He closed the door. He immediately started spewing the diagnoses and said it was a very obvious case multiple times. The next Drs. I went to told me his was a difficult case and they weren't convinced it was his bladder yet. McCaffe was reluctant to give me the numbers, and then kept pushing for me to go to the front counter and put down a 1,500 deposit. He repeated this multiple times. His speech was rapid as if he was on cocaine or something. I told him I needed to make a phone call first, and he would not leave the room in order for me to do so. He pressured me to make the phone call in the room with him. I said that I needed him to leave. After calling my family we decided to go elsewhere for care. I asked for my cat back and it took 10+ minutes for them to bring him to me, while I'm crying in the waiting room. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT THEM AT ALL. Along with the poor pet care, I felt physically unsafe while there. I ended up taking my pet to Emerald City Emergency Vet in Fremont. They are a husband and wife team of very knowledgeable Drs. They made sure to take their time and rule everything out before putting my cat through an invasive and expensive procedure. Go to them instead. 100 times over. I don't want anyone else to experience what I did.

Thank you Dr McHaffie! This is my 2nd emergency visit w a dog. The 1st was my daughter's dog about 2 years ago. That visit was on a Sunday evening and I had to wait over 4 hours to be seen. The pup was very sick and worsened visibly as we waited. Overall that visit I would have rated 2.5 stars. The care probably saved his life but the 'bedside manner' was 1 star at most. This visit was on a Saturday morning. Badly broken and torn dewclaw, excruciating pain on an already 3 legged dog. Dr McHaffie saw us fairly quickly, diagnosed the extent of the damage and provided clear explanations of the treatment he proposed. He also informed me, without pushing, about a new medication for osteoarthritis which we agreed was worth a try. Yes, surgery is pricey, for humans or pets. But it was not an option for me to leave her bleeding with a bone/toe sticking out at 90* from where it's supposed to be. I read the relatively low reviews and it gave me pause however the low reviews do not reflect my experience. If you need free vet services you may need to look further. If pet health care is necessary and you are prepared to pay, I was impressed with the professional services and will DEFINITELY go back for future care.

Me & my boyfriend had brought our husky mix to this vet after leaving a different vet due to my dog having an infection & fever from getting attacked by another dog and we’ve been at that previous vet for hours & we came to south Seattle vet and went back right after we checked in and my dog got looked at by the doctor right away no waiting .The 2 nice ladies that was working at the front desk were very helpful and very nice! Bless them for helping us & understanding ! And this place doesn’t charge as much for a visit as other vets would . I will definitely be going to back in future again for any of my pets .

I felt the vets were trying to extort me for my money. They promised me that my cat's care was going to cost me $1,600 but they ended up charging me $4,500. They said if I couldn't pay the bill, they'll keep my cat which seems like holding him as a hostage. Most importantly, my cat didnt recieved the proper care that he needed. I had to take him to a different vet. He was also super mangled and a lot of loose fur. I highly do not recommend South Seattle Veterinary Hospital.

Perfect. Taken cats and dogs here. For stomach issues, internal bleeding a and a dog attack resulting in punctured lungs and broken ribs- they’ve been great.
