Southgate Roller Rink is a special place with a fun, nostalgic, and cool atmosphere. It is a great skating rink and an excellent place to experience youth, offering a very nostalgic experience. The venue features a really cool bar downstairs, which is cute and comfortable, with the bonus of being able to watch people skate. The atmosphere is enhanced by bands playing in the middle of the rink while you skate. The staff is super nice, helpful, and seem genuinely happy to be at work. The regulars are intimidatingly good but also very nice and helpful if asked for tips. The rink is never too crowded, making it a great place for kids' birthdays and date nights. There are plenty of old-school video games to play, along with soft pretzels with cheese and a great selection of non-alcoholic beverages. However, the floor is uneven, has dips, and is small, meaning skilled skaters will zig-zag around others. This can make it challenging for new or hesitant skaters to build confidence. It is recommended that less experienced skaters consider going with an equally skilled friend or avoid Monday nights when the best skaters are present. Despite the floor, it remains a fun roller rink and a good time.
A great skating rink. I went there for a roller derby bout and had a great time. Plenty of old school video games to play and soft pretzels with cheese. Great selection of non alcoholic beverages too.
