Every time I go into the bank I have received excellent service. This branch is so convenient and I recommend it highly.

I work with three banks on capitol hill. Two of them do great work. These folks have lied to my face, made egregious mistakes that cost me thousands of dollars, barely even try to cover their tracks.
The online banking system is a joke. My pin randomly changed as did my login. The manager placates his ignorance by taking up the clients time. Avoid this place at all costs.

They locked me out of my account.the reason for this is I couldn't remember the exact amount I last used my card down to the Penney. People toss the bag after buying beer.withe receipt in bag. And clearly will only remember the store not the amount. Whe it was the other bank where was good 4 them along with the normal questions. Basicly one employee costed them 16000. I closed my account to say the least. Recomend .becu. thanks for nothing.

I opened a HELOC with Umpqua Bank in 2022 and when I went to withdraw money, it was a nightmare, and I faced a lot of issues. They let me put money from HELOC into their checking account but wont let me withdraw from checking due to daily withdrawal limits which would take me months to take my money out while I am paying interest. I wish I had gone to a different bank!

Allowed a bunch of customers SSNs to be leaked, notified us 2 months later and offered next to nothing in the way of assistance

Not a customer of this bank, and NEVER NEVER shall be. I used one of their ATM's to get $40 cash. As soon as I entered my PIN, the damn machine immediately spit my ATM card back at me along with a receipt for a BALANCE INQUIRY. I did not make a balance inquiry. I knew I had enough cash for a measly $40 withdrawal. On that receipt were two charges for $2.50 each. One for looking at my checking account balance, and another for looking at my savings account balance. Yep. This greedy bank charged me $5 for a balance inquiry. A BALANCE INQUIRY I DID NOT MAKE. And then, I put my ATM card back in that machine and actually got $40 out. The kind machine then spit out a receipt showing a charge of $43.00 Oh, and another charge of $2.50. So, to get $40 cash, I had to pay fees of $10.50. $7.50 to find out if I had enough money, and another $3 for my taking my own money. Umpqua Bank, YOU TRULY SUCK. I've never run across such a mendacious institution. You should be deeply ashamed of your obvious greed.

How do I hate thee, Umpqua? Let me count the ways: 1) There is absolutely no way to speak to a real person at this branch. Make the call on the listed phone number, and you get into an endless voicemail loop. 2) Gross incompetence on their part that led to a "hold" being put on our account (again, no fault of ours), which led to late fees, interest charges, and unfulfilled orders, No offer to reimburse or make this right. 3) Delays, ghosting, and a generally abhorrent lack of customer service.

Nida Martin at the Capitol Hill Branch of Umpqua is an incredible example of a banker that goes way above and beyond to provide exceptional customer service. She has continually been proactive in providing me with details relating to my account and my business, especially during Covid. Any time I have had questions or issues, like providing documents for my house closing, she has responded immediately and solved the issue professionally and always with a smile. Umpqua is extremely fortunate to have her on their team. Thank you Nida!

Hands down the worst lender I have ever dealt with. This is my second time trying to work with this bank. The first time was 5 years ago while buying my second property. My credit is above 750 and always has been. Their requirements for approval are the most ridiculous I have ever encountered. I have purchased several properties without the hassle this lender has given me. This time it was for a HELOC in the amount of 28,000. My property is on the water and we just updated our flood insurance to meet FEMA standards and are more than adequately covered. Somehow underwriting can't understand the new language per FEMA regardless of how it is explained. It has been 30 days of going back and forth with them and my insurance. It's a 28,000 HELOC for crying out loud! Never again.

Their online banking is horrible! It is always under maintenance. Since I do most things online I'm am forced to find myself a new bank.

I opened multiple accounts with this branch when they first opened close to 6 years ago - for 5 of those years, they were excellent. But something clearly shifted - in management and home office policy. Thus bank is as uncaring and downright disdainful of smaller accounts. Go to BECU unless you are a person of means. Their services and products are not for regular people any more. They are now fully awful!

Umpqua in general has an innovative Community involved approach but I have to say the staff at this particular branch is exceptional. It's a very challenging thing indeed to posture yourself as a community center with complimentary coffee, space for reading and lounging and an open invitation to surf the web and more in an urban environment with a very high preponderance of "high acuity" folks. (Transient, mental health challenges, addiction Etc). They handle it remarkably well. The exec's who come up with the model might actually work their plan in an urban environment to learn.
