I've been using Umpqua bank over 8 years and love all the branches. However, in this branch, there is this banker who is the slowest banker ever at Umpqua and can't really solve the problems. Somehow I always get service from this banker no one else so just having a bad luck I guess. I like other branches better just because of this banker. The banker is nice, just not good fit being a banker...

Horrible bank. I'm a neighbor and member of the community this bank is located in but won't do business here and you shouldn't either. I was just in this branch and found the manager and staff incredibly rude and completely unwilling to help. Umpqua pretends to be a community focused bank but they don't care about the neighbor they are in, only making money. I'm a credit union member also and they always live up to their commitment to the community they serve and seem to bend over backwards to be of help. Not Umpqua and not the management of this branch. Do your banking business someplace else. With a brand that cares about the community it's in.

My experience with Umpqua's Seattle Queen Anne branch was dissatisfying and unpleasant. I previously paid off an account that was in collections with them; therefore, I thought I could resume service with the company once my debt was paid. Unfortunately, after opening another account, the account was soon closed and my deposit returned. They no longer wanted my service due to the previous charge off according to the results from the Background Investigation team, which the teller Michael informed me was the reason behind the closure of the new account. I had always heard that Umpqua was an upstanding and quality institution but I am saddened that after paying my debt I wasn't allowed to be a customer again. It's not the teller's fault, I am just surprised and disheartened about the outcome of the institution's decision.

The people at the Queen Anne branch are wonderful, however, the back-end of the company is not. I was following up on a letter I have received from the bank regarding my required distributions from a retirement account. Because after giving them my social security number my mother's maiden name, and my full birthdate, they couldn't tell me whether I had opted for automatic withdrawal of the distribution. A call to the local bank gave me the date my account matures, and you better believe I'm withdrawing all of it on that date. If this were the first headache I've had with them it would be one thing, but it's not.

Bank of American Madison Park branch told one of my customers to whom I had written a check that my Umpqua account had a "hold" and no money in it. This was totally untrue and caused me to lose a customer. Umpqua - who's manager Travis answers the phone immediately - was very helpful and tried repeatedly to contact Bank of American on my behalf - with no luck. The customer service of Umpqua - both Queen Anne and Capitol Hill - has always been excellent and personal. I'm switching my Bof A account to Umpqua. Thank you Travis

This was by far the best experience I've had with a bank and its staff. They genuinely cared about my needs and goals while personally contacting with me regarding important correspondence. In 15 years I have not been in a bank where I didn't feel like I was being at least partially 'sold to' or scammed for my money and business, save for this one. And free coffee 😌☕ï¸. Highly recommend.

Inexperience bankers and customer service folks ..but yes they are very friendly. Example: It took three days, 2 emails, and 2 calls for me to get online access after setting up a new account at the Queen Anne branch. My phone number was entered incorrectly in the system. The person that created the account said to contact them instead of calling the main number because he could resolve problems quicker. I called once and was not connect to the branch, so then I emailed him twice -- no reply. I called the main number and had to call back a second time because the update wasn't made on my first call. I don't need to go inside the bank -- so I do miss out on all the customize.. where everybody knows your name service and the cookies the other reviewers rave about.

I read back over my old review and realized I sounded snottier than I meant to, so revising it. The branch itself gets 4 stars. I've decided I like the scrappy friendliness of the staff. Everyone is really nice and sweet and remembers you. That's rare and I appreciate it. They have fresh, cute design that is fun and not stuffy looking. It feels like "not your grandpa's bank". Umpqua as an institution is still a 2 star bank. Deposits, as I said before, take forever, and the online system needs an update. It has a hard time competing with the bigger guys like chase in terms of speed and efficiency. But the people at Chase don't know my name, so you gotta pick your battles. My chase account is my primary account so I don't suffer too much, but I think if umpqua were my only bank, I'd have switched by now, mainly because I don't want to wait 2 extra days for my paycheck to direct deposit. I need that money!

Words cannot describe the gross incompetence of Umpqua in general, or the Queen Anne branch in particular. If you are anything other than a college student or a pensioner, or want to process more than one transaction a week (or heaven help you have more than one account, like, er, a savings account) then this is not the bank for you, oh and never travel anywhere and expect to be able to use your payment card (and I'm talking travel to places as far flung as Oregon folks). Each question you ask the staff will be treated with "um let me just check that" while they turn to a colleague or call the very same customer care center you could call yourself (provided of course that you're not stupid enough to want to call customer care outside 9-5, monday to friday that is) to ask how to do the most basic thing. It's happened so frequently to me that I think I've figured out why they called the bank Um...pqua in the first place. You'll read in other reviews about the spacious, quiet environment - thats because they literally have no customers (or very few) - so while you sit there for a couple of hours waiting for them to resolve something you will indeed be in a quiet, spacious environment though you too will probably realize as we have that very few people are as stupid as you are to bank with these clowns. Seriously though sarcasm aside this is a terrible terrible bank (and that's saying a lot given the ridiculously low bar set by their competitors on what "being a good bank" is all about). Don't even think about opening an account, you will regret it.
