came here to get my nails done for my wedding, probably won't be back. my nails turned out fine, but their policies are very weird and not good for business! i booked a mani/pedi with a french tip add-on. upon arriving, they let me know that they couldn't do french tips with regular polish, so i had to do gel, which is more expensive and harder on your nails. i agreed and went forward with the gel manicure. they then let me know that since i booked a regular manicure and not gel, that they wouldn't have time to do my pedicure (because gel i guess takes longer than regular polish). i was a little annoyed by this, but said "no problem". she let me know that they COULD charge me a 50% cancellation fee for no longer getting the pedicure (even though they were the ones who didn't have time to do it), but since it was my first time at the salon, they waived it. thankful for this i guess, but they framed this situation as if it was my fault, when their website says nothing about only doing french tips with gel manicures. had i known any of this, i would have booked somewhere else entirely.charging people extra for your own lack of transparency is not good for business!

Everyone was very kind, and attentive. I went there for the gel extensions. Honestly for me a girl going from long acrylics to these - I’m not a fan. The gel is easily dented and has a dirty finish. The under part of my nails had this weird white sticky material- spent well over $70 for nails that I feel need to be redone. So if you’re looking for a clean look - I wouldn’t recommend any gel extensions. Other than that- super friendly staff

I’m so bummed. This place used to be my favorite and I’ve always raved about it to my friends. I recently moved further away but thought i would treat myself since I was in the area. I got simple lines (gel) on my nails and was happy with how it looked.Later that night I was putting something away when I could hear my nail snag on something. looking down two of my nails had completely lifted off. ?? Less than 24 hours and the gel peeled right off. I have two events and no time to go back out to Seattle to get it fixed.Such a bummer considering they just raised their prices too. I think I need to find another place to recommend going forward ?

Edit: (added 2 stars for great customer service)Manager Kaylee contacted me after the review was posted to let me know that this (see review below) is their process for a French manicure. She graciously offered me the opportunity to return and get a gel French mani but I declined since I’m not able to wear gels at work. Though I wish I had known that this was their standard process before deciding to do an French mani here, I do appreciate them contacting me immediately after seeing the review and trying to fix it. I would come back to this establishment to get regular polish, and their nail art using gel looks lovely.—Original review: (2 stars)I am so disappointed because I thought that I had found a good place in Seattle for nail art.Went in for my very first French manicure, a splurge because I usually do my own nails, I’m pretty good at it but don’t have the steady hands for the nail tips. Can’t do gels at work so regular paint. I had an awful tech. Firstly, she cut me with the cuticle nippers, so hard that I gasped. After the bleeding stopped, she went straight to paint the tip. She painted about 1/3 of my BARE nails with two layers of thick paint, then went in with acetone to create the half moon shape. When I asked her why no base coat or nude base, she said “we don’t do that for normal polish, just gel.” Okayyyy… after that I got one layer of top coat and was sent out the door.I paid for my friend as well and didn’t want to deprive her seemingly competent and nice technician her tip, so I tipped 20% on both services. But I had to know. Was I lied to? Was everything I thought I knew about French manicures wrong? The internet, thankfully, validated me - French manicures should have a base coat and a nude base. So yes, I was lied to, because this particular tech apparently doesn’t know how to do a French manicure but “did” one anyway.Stay clear if you want regular polish and any sort of nail art, I guess? They seem to be fine for gels. One star for the nice lady at reception and one star for the mani being okay looking, but I’m not expecting staying power for nail polish with no base coat. Definitely not worth the $50 this ended up costing. Generally annoyed that i wasted time and money on something i probably could have done myself at home.

I knew I liked this place right when I walked in and was greeted with a friendly face and a hint of lemongrass in the air. I booked an appointment for 30 min nail art, brought in my inspiration pics from Pinterest and worked with the nail technician to come up with the design, color and accents. She did each nail and confirmed we were on the same page before finalizing both hands.I love how honest and upfront Tin was on what she could do since I've been burned too many times where I was upcharged for nail art and it came out horribly. I was completely blown away and it came out amazing in my wedding pics. Can't wait to think of some more fun designs to try - this is definitely my go to spot for special occasions!

I had my nails done here for my wedding and they blew me away! I brought some examples and the team replicated them even better. They held up great for the chaos of the wedding weekend and didn’t even show a single sign of damage following a week at the beach. I was so pleased how they turned out, it’s definitely more expensive to get to the nail art but I cannot recommend the Urban Nail Box team any more highly!!

I had a gel manicure and pedicure. You can't see in the photos because my camera sucks but they used this amazing color shifting pearl powder. I had a wonderful time got the best massages and got the prettiest nails I've ever had. My mother in law has sensitive muscles so I got her the cbd pedicure for mothers day. She loved the pedicure so much that wants to get it again soon.

Love the nail art here but I would not recommend doing gelx extensions. They introduced it recently and it’s clear that they’re still practicing. My set had extra glue sticking out under the extension and the extensions themselves were cut short short and uneven which ultimately defeated the purpose of getting extensions.

Always loved coming here to relax. Super pleasant sunny spot with lovely decor and ambiance. The technician was amazing at controlling the temp of the wax, towels, and hot stones when she realized that I was a little more sensitive to it than other clients. I felt very taken care of and not judged.Personally loved seeing diversity(gender included) getting services here which is a credit to their inclusive and welcoming manner.I’ve tried out a few Ballard salons, and this one is it after consistently great experiences :)

Pure perfection! Urban Nail Box is on another level -- so impressed! I've been doing my own nails for a long time because I prefer the results to most manicurists whose work I'm generally unhappy with.I was looking for a salon that did nail art which is something that I can't seem to achieve with good results at home.Urban Nail Box had amazing reviews and their results totally blew me away. I always use a traditional polish and opted for my first gel manicure so I could get the nail art that I wanted. I came in with my inspo picture and they copied it almost exactly! From shaping to technique to the massage and the overall experience I'm super happy.I also broke my nail quite badly the morning before my appointment. They fixed it so seamlessly you can't even tell!I even came in to get a traditional red polish on my fingers and toes and loved that too. Nothing but rave reviews for my two experiences thus far and I will definitely be coming back. This salon is top notch, especially for Seattle!!Services: Nail painting

I've been going to UNB for over a year and every time I go in, I'm greeted almost immediately. Everyone is so kind and welcoming. It's very easy to book online and the appointment almost always goes seamlessly. It has been my go-to salon for awhile, however, my Valentine's Day manicure hasn't lasted very long. Within 4 days, the polish started lifting on almost all of my nails and there were multiple chips. After a week or so, I noticed that the polish on my right thumb had cracked and the next day all of the polish came off and my nail broke. I still really love UNB, but I'm a little disappointed because usually my manicures from them last three or so weeks.

This was my first time visiting Urban Nail Box. I was paired up with Tess and picked a design that she had created before on their Instagram page. She was super sweet and super precise at making sure the design came out perfect. I loved the end result! Everyone was kind and welcoming. Definitely recommend.

I moved to Seattle from California and felt so lucky to have found this place immediately. The space always relaxing and inviting, the staff always sweet and welcoming. Each artist always takes care to be extremely detail oriented, accommodating and best of all, just so much fun to see and talk to. My most recent favorite is this cat eye (Japanese in origin, it's a multidimensional sparkle) done by Nee, who also happens to have shaped my all-time favorite nail shape and length. From simple gel colors to intricate design, you can find it all. Just message them online or by phone if you're never sure how long to book for your design, and you will be a regular here in no time.
