Hola TOURISTAS! I've noticed that many of you lovely, beautiful people have questions about what may be found inside the Uwajimaya. It's one the best places to get lost in so don't be afraid and head on in. Theres a Japanese bookstore located inside too. As far as legends go, legend has it that on rare occasions the owner Denise bags your groceries and that she's mastered the ancient art of grocery bagging too. Denise, Miye and Tomio make me strive to be an even more awesome person and a more awesome, better person. ((( I have been trying to contact the ownership in regards to the apartments they own and manage. I believe that the ownership is uninformed in many instances and that some information is filtered out by their hired management and has been intercepted and that a Uwajimaya Corporation employee has been uninformed erroneously as well...I am asking ownership to contact myself directly FIRST... ))) Sometimes I get asked if a particular brand or ingredient is found within the Uwajimaya such as someone asked me recently if the store has Ellenos yogurt. No they do not so adios. But they do have PINKS ICE CREAM which is incredible, independent and local too. Fresh melons are delicious such as Canary melon, my favorite, a Korean varietal or crisp asian pears which rock my world! You can find these cool black grapes which are delicious ice cold and feed them to your favorite queen or king as they bask in bath tubs filled and overflowing with sak'e or bathtubs filled with crunchy, smokey unagi, soy, ginger, cold rice, ice, oysters and Japanese beer, dear... it's your world! We've all got bucket lists, I certainly do! You might find taro pudding and other yogurts and they do have creamy styles of fruit popsicles that are so good to try too. I know they have yogurt for kiddos which are delicious for midlife at midnight's too. You can also try mochi if you like ice cream and they have many different flavors and the texture makes me smile, it's fun. Gourmet Japanese donuts are found inside the food court at Dochi and they're just wild there, Yoshi! Anyway...Every time I'm there at checkout I lay down face up on the conveyor belt, pretend I'm in a Japanese garden, take a short ride and hope to see Denise's beautiful face smiling down upon me like the sun. I'll keep on trying! LOOKING FOR SOMETHING DEFINED?? On the website you'll find UWAJIPEDIA A glossary of common, and not-so-common, Asian ingredients and terms!! Coming back from Japan. Miss some of the treats. Since we were visiting Seattle and had time to venture out. We stopped by this grocery store. They also have a pretty great food court with multiple selection of food stalls. The grocery has great selection of Japanese and Asian food. They have a great selection of fresh Japanese food- sushi, bake goods, and mochis. If you spend a certain enough, don't forget to validate your parking stub. The receipt also has the code for the restroom. My son enough the attached Japanese bookstore as well with all his anime books and figures.

Uwajimaya is on the pricier side, but they have a great selection on items that would be difficult to find otherwise. If you are looking for anything in the Asian food realm, you will most likely be able to find it here. You can even find fresh wasabi root on occasion. Also, during December, they bring a lot of items from Japan for New Year's.

The jewel of seattles Chinatown, it is insane that a grocery store can be so large, but more importantly function as a community hub, it seemed that all of the happenings of china town were taking place in this store, the attached bookstore is wonderful for all stationary needs and for that manga lover in your life. The selection at the store was perfect and I found many snacks that I missed from Japan. The food court offers a large variety of East Asian, Indian, and Hawaiian food options, the boba tea shop being a highlight. The only knock I have and the reason being for only having 4 stars is the policing of clearing tweaked out people, the store is watched by security guards but the food hall is not and two people were very clearly blitzed out of their mind. Overall amazing place that is suffering from what the rest of Seattle is

so this evening while shopping with my daughter who is 12 years old, security followed us down almost every aisle! it was so bad my daughter even took notice. I don't believe we "looked suspicious" or did anything to make security feel that out of all the costumers that my daughter and I needed to be followed. it was a pretty sucky experience. knowing that there was a radar on me and my kid when we have nothing but good intentions.

Don't show up too close to closing because even though they say they close at 8 PM, the guards told me they can close the store at 7:50pm if it's crowded inside. Im a senior citizen and only needed one item but they weren't letting anyone inside and pretended like the managers would fire them if they let me in. I called to leave a complaint, but no one bothered to call me back.

If you prefer being accompanied throughout your shopping, this is the ideal place! Two security guards closely trailed my friend and me as we browsed, noting that we were both people of color. Interestingly, my white friend was left undisturbed. The store appeared clean, and the cashier at checkout was friendly. However, the overall experience was marred by the discomfort of being profiled while shopping.Other than wide selection of produce and imported goods.

Truly one of a kind store. Great produce, wide selection of seafood / meats and a truly epic selection of prepared foods round out the offerings. Don’t forget to save room to hit some of the many food stalls that line the hallway just outside the store.

Ok, this may be a long review. I have already loved Uwajimaya. Even though I live in Tumwater, I will make a trip about once a month to come up here and stock up. My favorite kimchi is here, my favorite sashimi selection, plus all of the extras you get with it. The service, and by that I mean the cashiers, is one of the worst I've ever had to work it. They will not do anything to help you, but will do everything to make you feel bad. This wasn't the case just a year or so ago. This uwajimaya is huge though and it doesn't really matter because for now, I will keep coming back!

When I stepped into this supermarket I thought it looked really neat and clean and spacious! The self-checkout stations look cool. I was surprised to find Royce chocolate store in here, it has some really good chocolates!

i was a customer at the uwajimaya in seattle's international district at appx. 10:30am today- 10-27-2023 & i wanted to purchase 3 1/2 lbs. of roasted pork, also known as lechon, but the older chinese man taking care of this meat near the food court was unable to understand what i was trying to tell him i wanted, & finally, a co-worker, a chinese lady who could translate told him what i wanted. the bottom line is, & this is not racist, but rather simple reality in business, that persons working in a position where they have regular verbal dealings with customers need to be fluent in the primary language of customers, which is english, as well as chinese. i love this store & the meat i purchased was the best, but please try to help the folks who deal face to face with customers all day long, become more conversant in english, as i could tell that this man became very agitated & frustrated that he could not understand what i was needing. sincerely, peter in seattle.

I bought MADE IN THE USA PRODUCTS, including the beer which was MADE IN THE USA.I stop at an upscale Asian Supermarket in Seattle, Uwajimaya, to stock up on goodies for the next leg of my Circle America tour.I AM sadly shocked. All products from Japan are label with a cancer and reproductive risk warning under California Proposition 65. I did not buy any Japanese products. Fukushima is killing our HuMan food supply. INSTEAD OF FUNDING WAR, HUMANITY FOCUSES ALL WAR RESOURCES ON SOLVING THE FUKUSHIMA FOOD DISASTER! SO BE IT DONE.I bought MADE IN THE USA DELICIOUS PRODUCTS!
