If you are looking for someone to fabricate and install countertops, I can't say enough about the helpful people at Victor's, a small but professional family business in Georgetown. They didn't make or install countertops for us but we simply needed a small sill cut, polished and holes drilled for the niche near the bathtub. Man, you'd think we were getting a whole kitchen installed by how well Victor treated us. While other places were quoting $250 minimums and 4-6 week turnarounds, Victor was willing to turn it around on the spot and went out of his way to help with sizing etc. and charged us under $100. (Even though they were clearly very busy working on much larger jobs.) If I ever need countertops, Victor will be who I call first.

I ordered a granite countertop from Victor. On his first attempt his installers cut the hole for the faucet in the wrong place. When I enquired about this he said that he could cut my brand new fire clay sink to accommodate the faucet. I spoke to the vender that provided the sink and she said cutting the fire clay sink would void the warranty. After some back and forth with Victor he finally agreed to replace the countertop. After a few months use the countertop developed ridges and dimples that were tough to the touch. I called Victor and complained about this. He said that it was due to me cleaning it incorrectly. He stated that he would fix it for $208. I decided not to throw good money after bad and write it off. I've spoken to a few other people who have used Victor and the had the same problem with him cutting the faucet hole in the wrong position.

Above and beyond! Victor came when he said he would to make a template, fabricated our granite in under a week, came back out with his powerful and competent crew, and installed our PERFECT countertops in no time! Including the kitchen sink! We could not be more happy! I just can't stop with the exclamation points!!!! :o)

Great experience working with Victor and his installation team. My house is 23 years old and well built. I wanted to replace the cartridge in the kitchen faucet and by the time I got damn thing out, I had torn out the sink and some of the laminate! My girlfriend saw my handiwork and said, "Oh good! Now you can buy granite! This is great!" At first I was shocked. Only rich people buy granite. Well, not anymore. I think granite is fantastic. I was referred to Victor by an appraiser. Victor did exactly as the appraiser said he would. We agreed in advance on the following: I would break and make the plumbing and the cooktop and install new backspashes. Victor would tear out the old countertops and backsplashes and seal the granite. Victor measured precisely and provided excellent recommendations. The installation team handled the little "surprises" easily- added epoxy to fill a hole in cabinet where the old cooktop was and chiseled out the drywall where it was a little high in corner joint and chiseled the cabinet where needed for sinks. They've got a great electrical chisel/cutter tool that works on vibration. I got one for myself so I can rebuild the cabinet "floor" under the sinks and cooktop. 3 granite seams are nearly invisible. I paid $7600 for 84 sq ft of countertops (3 in the kitchen, 1 hall bath, 1 master bath). He used 2 big sheets of granite (I am responsible for cost of an entire sheet of granite including leftovers so let him help you plan how you will use your slab. They come in different sizes). So that's $91 per square foot. Seems expensive, but it was worth it to me. I love beautiful high quality stone and workmanship and I got all of that! We visited a lot of small granite outfits and box stores before we met Victor. These outfits sell their own granite but the selection is limited and they are displayed in a way that is hard to see- little samples or whole sheets stacked up like doors in a hardware store. Victor referred me to a granite showroom in Seattle called Pental. They've got a HUGE selection of granite displayed so you can see the whole slab in good lighting. Absolutely gorgeous stuff. I picked a mid-price granite called Astoria. It has the elements that make me happy just to look at it- natural like a sandstone cliff or a dry stream bed, flowing lines in mostly tan with highlights of salmon and black. Plus little sparkles like the inside of an oyster that flash at you as you move around the kitchen. You can almost hear the sound of tumbling water and see the trout in there! Absolutely beautiful! All of the sinks are under-rmount- the only way to go for me. So easy to wipe the counters. Victor's team installs 2x4 side supports for the kitchen sink because of the additional weight a large sink could hold. I was lucky in that my fake oak cabinets with real oak doors and frames were good enough quality that the instl was strong and level. Turns out the color of the stone complimented the honey oak color of the cabinets. I hadn't planned on that nice surprise! Victor and his team are on time for estimate and installation. Very pleasant guys to work with. I haven't installed the faucets and wall tile yet. Still washing up in the laundry tub!

We recently had our kitchen and bathroom countertops re-done and Victor & Slavik did the fabrication and installation. They were on time, early in fact for both the measurement day and installation day. I don't think there is a straight wall or countertop in our place and they were able to make adjustments on the spot to make it all come together. We simply could not be happier!! They are experts with incredible attention to detail to ensure the job comes out perfectly & it did. Not only was the quality of their work amazing, they are very friendly and made the entire experience fun! We highly recommend them and can say quite confidently that you will not be disappointed.

Decided to update a quest bathroom and were replacing sink and cabinet. I wanted a granite top but my husband was planning to use solid surface (that we had used for laundry room and utility sink area years before). He thought granite would be much more expensive but I convinced him to that we could maybe find a remnant -since it was a small countertop area. Several places we checked did seem too pricey when they started quoting fees for measuring and installation. I finally got to Viktors and was pleasantly surprised at the price and selection of the remnants. I was able to find a perfect piece of beautiful granite for $200.00!!! It was measured, cut and installed (including putting in the sink) in less that 2 weeks and total $465.00. (They also replaced another sink downstairs that had cracked-but they didn't do any plumbing attachments--we knew that ahead of time). My sink looks beautiful and fits perfectly, Everyone we dealt with there was pleasant and professional. Highly recommend!!

I recently decided my old formica kitchen countertops had to go (ugly pale pink) so I did some looking around, sobered by the comments friends and neighbors made that it would cost $6,000-$8,000 and that the rest of my kitchen would then look like crap and the dominos would soon follow (cut to the sound of money flushing down the toilet). Figuring I will sell the house someday, it seemed like a worthy investment. I wound up down at Seattle Granite where I purchased the materials (I'll review them separately, they were totally great). They gave me the name of someone who could do the installation (If I did it the whole house would need to be condemned). Turns out Victor's Granite is right across the parking lot from Seattle Granite and also provides granite materials, sometimes does installation for Seattle Granite. I called Victor, he called me back promptly, made an appointment to come out, measure the surfaces, give me an estimate and make templates. Victor was prompt, and very helpful. My existing countertops were not standard width, we talked about options, he gave me his suggestion and I took it. I told him I would keep my existing sink (it drops in on top of the countertops). The estimate was reasonable ($1600 plus tax), we scheduled the installation (they would come out, remove the old countertops, install the new, remove all the trash all on the same day) and they made the templates on the spot. Installation day he called to tell me what time they were coming and they were on time. There was a hiccup in that the support for the old countertops was not sufficient to hold the weight of granite so he had to go buy lumber to add additional support. This added $250 to the cost - he told me before he spent the money. (of course, once the old countertops were removed I had no choice, but this is something you should be aware could add to your costs). They worked all day and the countertops are beautiful. They took a lot of care to be precise and the edges all match, the backsplashes and windowsill are just great. No complaints there whatsoever. The only thing that marred this event came when they went to drop the sink in. He asked me if I had a plumber to connect the sink and I said, no, that I expected them to do that. He said they weren't plumbers and that they wouldn't guarantee that part but would do their best. Since I needed to use my sink, I agreed, and when they reconnected it they told me that there was a leak at the valve at the wall because my fittings were old, also the connection to the disposal was too short. They did the best they could and finally left at 7 PM. The next day I called Mr Rooter who came in and re-did the plumbing - they had the hot and cold reversed and he found another leak at the body of the disposal. So $220 later my sink is OK again and I have beautiful countertops. Moral of the story - they guys do great counter work and they are fair (they didn't add to the bill for the 1-1/2 hours they worked on the sink) but in their original estimate they didn't tell me i would need a plumber to reconnect the sink - maybe if my plumbing had been in better shape it wouldn't have been an issue, but it was never mentioned) I would recommend them to anyone with the caveat that you go through all the parameters of the job with them so you're not surprised at the end. I love my new countertops. All in all I spent about $3600 on my countertops and they actually make the rest of my kitchen look better, not worse, so besides changing handles on the cabinets, everything else gets to stay the same.
