It's really sad to see all of the bad reviews that this store has as I've only ever had good experiences at this location. All of the staff here are always so nice and efficient even on really busy days (of which they have many) and their long hours of operation make it so that I can pick up something at pretty much any time of day. I used to get most of my groceries at QFC but the closest location to me is a bit farther away and the prices are much higher so this Safeway has been my usual shopping spot (especially since it's walkable). As is the case with most stores in the city, there is homelessness nearby but not in any way that interrupts my typical day or prevents me from picking up groceries. I think people are really hard on this store because it serves so much of lower Queen Anne and Belltown but they do an excellent job considering how much is required of them every day. Again, I've never had a bad experience here and frequent this location often. I would recommend it to anyone in the area. (:

This is the worse Safeway in the United States. The manager of the Starbucks has lost all her good employees for breaking union laws, and gets away with theft. She also hires only Mexican migrants who are not legal and speaks no English. She steals from her employees, and sleeps with the meat manager Constantine who lies for her. They cause fights with customers, and steal all the time but blame the homeless. They loose all the best employees only to have the most uneducated employees working. If your smart, and have a life, and could care less about being apart of the Safeway, laughable click. I strongly advise stay away. The director does nothing to protect the employees and just as incompetent as the rest. And the merchandise manager has a call girl website prancing around in her cheap heels as if she is something special. She also got her position by lying on her back. The employees all are drug addicts, and alcoholics, it's a complete mess. The worse store in the United States.

I strongly dislike this Safeway. The staff is sooooo rude. I've seen them treat customers in atrocious ways before and you can almost NEVER find anyone to help you with anything. One of my biggest complaints though is that you cannot get picked up here by uber. And Safeway doesn't have it posted anywhere. So I went thanksgiving shopping here and had a few hundred dollars worth of of food to get back to my Belltown apartment and uber wouldn't pickup here because of the game. You could only get picked up at a designated climate pledge destination which is impossible because the carts Safeway has do not let you leave the parking lot without locking. In fact, you can't even take the cart to the edge of the curbe if a car is picking you up so you have to drag a locked up cart across the pavement for like 15 feet or else you have to unload from the front door of Safeway which is absurd. Anyway, the day before thanksgiving I literally was trapped outside of Safeway for 1.5 hours trying to get my groceries home. Please link up with uber and figure this out because it's sooooooooo frustrating. It's such an ordeal to come here. I'll make sure to never shop here again on a game day.

We bought this "fresh" salmon fillet yesterday morning from this Safeway location. As you can see in the pictures provided below, the salmon is infested with tapeworm. I suggest them to remove all salmon from the store, and refund us ASAP! We would not know, and could have gotten very ill hadn't the tapeworm surface to the top of the salmon. If I could give 0 stars I would! PLEASE BE AWARE!

The story I'm about to tell is 100 percent true. No embellishment at all. This used to be my favorite grocery store, simply because I live really close to it. I've been craving steak, so today I went there for that specific reason. I'm a social butterfly, so when I saw a homeless dude selling Real Change, I struck up a conversation. It was a pleasent conversation, until... An elderly woman burst out of the front door, followed by four young women. They tackled her and rifled through all of her pockets. They were quite violent. I used my best judgement to assess that the elderly woman wasn't in any real physical danger, otherwise I would've used my very large size and physical proweress to intervene. The old lady got away. I stuck around for quite some time to speak to police about the crime that I witnessed. It turns out that three of the women who physically assaulted this poor old lady are employees of the store. The old lady had shoplifted and the employees were getting back their lost product. Not only is it against the law for an employee to assault a shoplifter, it's just very bad optics, it can lead to possibility of lawsuit, and it's just morally wrong on so many levels. All I did was report a crime - physical assault against an elderly woman. But the store has 86'd me. Holy crap, I am SO in the right on this matter. I've been working in the service industry for a LONG TIME and I'm really good at it. Store employees tackling an elderly woman for shoplifting is so fucking stupid. I just got off the phone with their corporate office, and I'm so offended by what I saw today that I absolutely am now on a mission to get those violent pieces of sh*it fired. I don't know for sure, but I think it's a good guess that the shoplifter is a homeless person. In Seattle, there are lots of groups that advocate for homeless people. I'm not condoning the shoplifting, but a store employee ABSOLUTELY has NO RIGHT to ever put their hands on someone, unless intervening to stop an act of violence. Which, that's not what happened. And the employees almost look they enjoyed it. I spoke to the manager immediately, and not only did he not send the employees home, he reported ME to the police. Wow. The audacity. Please, do not shop here. Boycotts work. I told their corporate office that if these horrible excuses for oxygen aren't fired, I'm going to raise hell, and I plan to do that. I hope someone from HR reads this. You're on notice.

DO NOT SHOP HERE! Sean Dickenson, the manager aggressively verbally assaulted a Black woman tonight. When I offered to pay for the items that the woman needed he threatened to call the cops on both of us. He was cussing, screaming and calling the woman names. I felt intimidated and he all but physically pushed me out of the store. I will never be returning to this location as I am too afraid to see Sean. His behavior was in appropriate and frankly violent.

I moved to this neighborhood in 2005 and have been coming to this Safeway on an off since then, so 16 years. Everyone giving more than 1 star is being very generous. People in the deli cannot communicate in English and do not know the names of any of their products. They'll keep asking you what you want, even if you repeat the exact name on the meat packaging 10-15 times and point directly at it through the glass. This hasn't happened once, it happens every time. They shrug their shoulders. They hope you'll walk away lol. There is no one at the customer service desk, so if that older guy with the glasses is working the deli, you just don't get to buy food. What afucking joke. Cassandra T., where are the helpful employees? Every single time I've asked an employee for something, they act like I killed their dog.

Sorry guys. Been here 4 times and never going back to this location. One guy was playing a video game on his iPhone while ringing me up for real. Maybe it's really hard to find good help for grocery. Sorry, but I love the customer service at other Safeway's way better than QFC. Capitol Hill Safeway is my favorite. Such a more fun location I recommend them.

Truly a great neighborhood store. The store is indeed understaffed, but the staff members who are there are always kind, friendly, and helpful. They put up with a lot of sh*t (stealing, rude customers, being understaffed) and they always try to be there for those who visit. As essential workers who are putting their life at risk every day to serve those of us who have the privilege to work from home, my most sincere thank you goes out to them. One thing worth noting is that if you visit the store after 11pm you can expect a long wait. Namely, because the self check-outs are closed and the store is especially understaffed during this time. All of this to say that I can't thank folks who work here enough!

It's like a regular neighbor hood grocery store ... but it's not . The service is very friendly ... genuinely friendly not fake friendly or intrusively friendly . Also I've been getting Asian takeout from the deli counter and find it very satisfying.... black bean chicken is Delish... get there early because it's usually sold out early .

If you are into drug addled shoplifters, indifferent guest service and inconceivable mismanagement, I implore you to shop at this LQA Safeway.
