Unimpressed with their choice of cutting for the "classic cuts". It's listed as brisket and stew meat. Come to find out they cut up my brisket for stew meat and just left me the tip, at a size as big as my hamburger packages, the most uneven section and almost pointless to try and smoke.
Specifically requested that I keep the trim and suet. Got enough to fill about a 2 gallon bag. Same for dog bones. I typically get about twice as much or more of both when buying a quarter of a cow from my normal butcher. This was off a half a cow.
Admittedly it was a small cow, and there is going to be small cuts from that and less to go around. But damn. I will be skipping purchases from there going forward.

We brought my husband's deer (deboned) in for grinding. We asked just for the grind, no packaging. It's just the 2 of us & I wanted to make small packs. It was ready the next day. Packaged in 2 lb. packages. 😒 They were sorry for the mistake & didn't charge us for the wrap. However, now I have 2 choices. I can repack it all or be pissed off everytime I pull 2 lbs. of burger out of the freezer when I need 8 oz. The meat looks great, packing is well done & it was speedy.

I was looking for bangers for an Irish stew and was not experiencing the luck of the Irish when I came across Home Meat Service. Very friendly and helpful on the phone and when I arrived to look for my unusual request I was quickly helped and given a little something extra in honor of my first visit.Meat lovers paradise.

I've been living here since 1970 and have never stopped by. Finally I visit the market and was blown away, customer service was awesome and for a small place they had a great variety. Prices were good too. Bought a couple steaks and smoked cheese. I will be back for sure, this place was great and the people were too. Just the way you'd expect a small town family business to be!

I ordered a 1/4 cow for the first time ever from Bent Gate Farms in Sequim (AMAZING). I'm all about learning new things so when I picked up my beef I bombarded the very friendly lady with all sorts of questions trying to understand how the process worked. She was more than happy to answer my questions and help me out. I'm glad Bent Gate Farms uses HMS because my experience was nothing but positive.

Id personally give this place a 5 for their products and meat. Definitely a top tier option for the Olympia Shelton area, HOWEVER, I've been going to this place for 4 years now and there is some lady that Is a complete A-hole over the phone.( Sounds like a 30-40 year old) Still haven't found who it is in person but I will not be taking my wild game or coming here after being a loyal customer any longer if I have a showdown on the phone with her again. My poor elderly dad got a deer this season and I explained what to ask them and what to say, and this woman (assuming it's the same woman I've dealt with in the past) was a complete jerk to my dad. We still brought our deer to be processed here but someone's going to have to sit the rude woman down or they will be losing a couple loyal customers. SIDENOTE- everyone else has been a pleasure to talk to and pretty friendly.

First time at HMS. It's a little out of the way but well worth the tripThe service was excellent and products are amazing. Pork sausage is the best we have had in years, ground beef the same. Ham was great, as is the pepperoni. Haven't tried the rest of the stuff we bought but it looks like it will not disappoint.

Would not use them to process wild game. I took an elk there to get processed. I carefully deboned the animal and brought in 200 pounds of meat. I clearly said "Stake out everything you can and burger the rest." They turned a whole elk with all that beautiful meat into hamburger. I don't know who in their right mind would hamburger all that steak? My family was devastated. For my trouble they took 150 dollars off a 400 bill. Will not use again.

Absolutely amazing when I couldn't find anybody to get me a raw uncured,unsmoked ham so I could absolutely smoke it and cure it myself they came through it was well worth the drive from Tacoma and again the service was next to none.

Super butcher shop! Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent cuts of meat. Also has some produce and local food products.
