so many hidden fees. $60 "processing" fee? $60 fee to downgrade memberships with no staff explanation as to why those charges exist or what they're going towards. overall difficult to work with, they won't give you a straight answer for anything. such a money hole. I would go elsewhere if I were you.

Joined this gym a couple months ago after leaving a local gym. I've loved my experience here so far. I've been doing the Champions performance classes and am loving how strong I look and feel!! I've gained so much confidence with all the coaches help. The gym is clean, affordable, and I love the community

I have given multiple opportunities to Emerald City Athletics to address the issues I have raised.Alas, they have not. I asked for a rate card and a copy of their Terms and Conditions and none were provided - this is either gross ineptitude or indifference at play.Or, perhaps as many have stated, confirmation of a high-pressure upsell focus. The fact that only ACH/Wire payments are accepted by Emerald City Athletics reinforces their abhorrent and rapacious attitude toward their customers - disaffording their customers of the protections of Scheme Card payment mechanisms is clearly part of their business strategy.

I wish that whoever is playing the music would keep the volume the same. Sometimes it would be so loud that it's difficult to listen to my own music on my AirPods. Sometimes it would so quiet that it's difficult to listen to the speakers. It would also go from bass music to something weird to gangster rap. I mean... could be better.

I have been attempting to cancel my membership since last Thursday, and have been met with considerable obstacles and misinformation at each turn. My husband had previously undergone the same painstaking process, which should have prepared me, but the experience has been less than pleasant. When I went into the gym on Thursday to request a cancellation form, the receptionist directed me towards an online form. She claimed that filling it out online would expedite the process, and contradicted what we had been told earlier--that a physical form was required. Despite my husband's skepticism, I opted to trust the representative and filled out the online form immediately. After submitting the form, I waited, expecting a prompt response. However, I didn't hear back until yesterday, when I was contacted by a representative named Jack or Josh (if I heard correctly). In an ironic twist, he stated that a physical form was indeed necessary. When I relayed the receptionist's previous instructions, he abruptly ended the call, saying he needed to attend a meeting and would follow up around 2 PM. As of this writing, I have yet to receive any further communication. This situation prompted me to recall a 2020 letter from Washington's Attorney General, addressed specifically to gyms with convoluted cancellation procedures. For everyone's convenience, the link is as follows: atg.wa.gov/news/news-rel…In closing, I would like to draw your attention to the wording on your own website concerning online cancellation requests. The site clearly states that an ECA representative would "contact me to complete the cancellation", not to gather more information or direct members back to the physical form: emeraldcityathletics.com…I am disappointed by this experience and the lack of clear, consistent information. I hope my review can serve as a catalyst for change in your cancellation procedure or just for everyone's awareness.Update: They replied to my email mentioning basically the same thing in this review (here's the email if anyone has the same issue because you can't find it on their website: ballingeradmin@emeraldci…) and has cancelled my membership. Still, they said Jeremy tried to contact me the day after my form submission but I have no record of text, phone call or email, and they said the same thing to my husband when he cancelled so it's your judgement whether to believe them or not. I am extremely relieved that I don't have to have to interact with them again.

I'll copy my Google review so more people are aware.Stay away. It's a scam.I stopped using their facilities a few months ago and last week went to cancel my membership. Only to be made aware that the canceling process will take 3 months in which you are responsible to pay. Here's the run down. According to their fine print, you need to give them 30 day notice to cancel your membership. Now what they don't make clear is that during that day period, since it'll overlap your billing cycle, you'll have to pay for another month. This is on top of the last months fees due at the time of signing. So basically, when you cancel, you pay them an extra 2 months worth of fees. It's just a straight up scam. They don't make it clear you'll be paying that extra amount on top of the last months dues at the time of signing.I considered taking legal action but decided $45 wasn't worth it in the end. But I feel for all the elderly members or traveling gym goers who need to cancel memberships on the fly.Beware of the scam and loop hole in their fine print.

Tony gave me a tour and was very informative of the club and what it had to offer. I'd recommend it to anyone.

This place is great. For starters, it's probably the cleanest gym I've ever been to. It looks like it did opening day. Also, for such a large gym, it's pretty shocking how the staff takes the time to get to know you and remember your name. They always greet you when you come in and they wave when you leave. Pretty incredible. The champions classes are amazing and definitely worth that level of membership. Great coaches who push you, correct your form so you don't hurt yourself, keep the class amped up, and maintain positivity. My partner has done some personal training seshs and he seems satisfied. Seriously, check it out.

This location is very nice with all new equipment. You are always greeted with a smile by whoever is up at the front desk.I am not a gym enthusiast but I am working to get back into shape. So far the gym has everything I need to meet my goals. They have a tiered plan which provides different benefits depending on what you want. I would say they are "motivated" to get people signed up into these tiers but ultimately, the choice is up to you. Make sure to take your time and pick the right option for you.I appreciate all the staff that helped me find the plan that fits my needs the best!

My partner Jaj and I just needed to warn people about this place. This is a predatory company and they absolutely will take advantage of you and try and swindle you out of your money and give you as little possible back. when you've had enough and try to cancel, they'll make it a nightmare - like seriously, you will be charged the next month after they say you are canceled. They do it habitually, I think its a business practice of theirs to steal but not actually admit they're stealing. Easiest way to combat this , and get ANY attention at all, is filing a attorney general complaint. Link here fortress.wa.gov/atg/form…A lawyer could dig and come up with a class action for this place if they put in the time. This place owned by Neil, M Reavley, and some low level wanna-be juniors who actually fuc'*ing buy 5 star reviews with Starbucks gift cards. If you don't believe this read the reviews at the other Wallingford locations. Take care and make a wise decision. The guy called Josh leads the sales pack to BOTHER u no end if you give them your real phone number and contact info. This gym delivers Much hate towards us in the Trans community.
