Absolutely terrible experience with H&R Block – would never recommend this branch or the company as a whole.
We went in expecting clarity and professional guidance but were met with the complete opposite. The person handling our taxes was unclear and evasive about why our return amount changed and how adjustments were made. Because of this lack of transparency, we were completely caught off guard about a key investment we needed to make of $14k.
They kept calling us every other day just to push for payment and continue the filing process, without actually answering the important questions we had. Once we made the payment, we reached out again with follow-up questions—and they just stopped responding altogether.
I had to chase him down with multiple calls, and when I finally got him on the phone, he was rude, dismissive, and didn’t even listen properly. All he said was, “you guys agreed, so I changed it,” but at no point had he ever explained clearly (especially over messages) why our tax amount was higher to begin with. He just made changes behind the scenes, said it’s lower now, and told us to pay—without explanation.
The worst part? I ended up getting the same tax return amount when I tested filing on TurboTax—which costs 1/5th of what we paid H&R Block. So essentially, we paid a premium for confusion, lack of service, and poor customer experience.
H&R Block clearly has no customer obsession and zero follow-through. Definitely not worth the money or stress. I worked with Bahram Samanian.

I have been going to the block for years and I’ve never had issues or had to redo my taxes because of a tax pros mess up. I picked Tammy given the 31 years of experience. She hardly spoke to me and changed all my headlines from head of household to single and gave me very odd excuses to why she’d done this without even asking or building information from ME! Just what she thought? Anyways. I had them redone because she lost me $3,400. Sadly her 31 years isn’t gunna cut it for me. Definitely won’t be back. I knew something was off.

Our experience at H&R Block in Shoreline was excellent. The front desk staff was lovely, and it was easy to make an appointment only a few days out! We couldn’t be more appreciative of how wonderful Bahram Samanian was in prepping our taxes… he was kind and attentive, and took what is usually a stressful experience and made it so easy for us! We will be back every year from now on!! Thank you to Sam and the whole team for your great attitudes and hard work during such a busy time of year!!!

I was having a difficult week with a parent in the hospital and could not have been more happy to receive Stephanie’s support on my taxes this year. Stephanie was knowledgeable, patient, and explanatory. She helped disambiguate areas of concern while giving sound, but not overwhelming advice. I appreciate the care she showed during our first meeting and I look forward to many more to come (even given the cost). Thank you, Stephanie! I feel reassured.

THE ABSOLUTE WORST place to get your taxes done. Terrible customer service, misquoted return amount, taxes submitted incorrectly, missed filing important documents. I was told
'thank goodness you paid for peace of mind' even though the mistake was completely on them. Impossible to get ahold of anyone. I will never use H&R Block again or refer anyone to use them. They charge an insane amount, made a mistake on my taxes then refused to refund me the $815 they charged. I will never work with Tax Pro David Elmer again. I filed a complaint and escalated it and then refused a refund by Team Leader Lisa Erb.
Common business practice is to make a customer feel they were rendered good service. I was left feeling robbed and taken advantage of. My taxes were filed incorrectly by H&R Block, I paid $815 for this tax service. To right the situation I was offered a $50 discount to return to them next year. What a joke!

absolute horrible experience of my life!!! we filed our taxes in march and H&R block sent in July !!!!!!! like WHAT !!! we paid you $1700 to file our taxes !!! and this is what you do ! and when IRS send you the letter with the accrrued interest and fees you just ignore our calls emails and when we come in the office to have a one on one talk , each time you give a us a new excuse ??? one day your dad died then next day your aunt died and you were away for weeks!!! who was f'ing covering you sherri when you were away for your aunt's fake funeral for weeks ??? first of looking at you makes me think all your relatives have already died and you have outlived everyone.... I will be exposing H&R block on every social media platform, your cooperate complaint, I already reported you to IRS by showing them the receipts that we paid you in full for the service that you never provided , the better bussiness bureau and the last thing left is to hire an an athorney to sue H&R block not only for all the charges and fees, for the money we paid you to do a service that you never did and for pain and suffering you have caused us by me not going on with my life but constantly trying to resolve this issue!!!!

Filing via website for $33 - absolutely horrible, could not file after making payment. No one to turn to. Local HR Block office filed for me at an additional $264 cost. Never again would I use this company.

We have been trying to get our 2020 taxes filed for 3 years now and have gone in circles with the office, customer support, and different managers. We were supposed to receive $2,500 back in refunds and are now past the 3 year mark and no longer able to receive this refund.
File here if you never want to see your refund and get passed around in circles for years on end to never receive a response.

Met with a tax preparer 5-6 weeks ago. Emailed them the documents I agreeed to. Emailed multiple times. Called and left messages . They have never returned a call or email 6 weeks later. Weird!

THESE ARE THE PEOPLE SUBMITTING DOCUMENTA TO THE IRS?!?!?!! Don’t speak English, didn’t know how to spell mechanic, then asked me for documents I’ve NEVER HAD to provide. Good luck.
