As a BECU member, I was told my membership would be valid at Sound, it wasn't. They would not do anything with my business account and wanted to charge me a fee using my personal account to exchange cash for coins. They don't act like a credit union, worse than a big bank! I then went to chase a block away and with no checking account, they gave me coin rolls for no fee.

We worked with Molly Wilson on a loan and she was very professional and finished everything in a timely manner. Great communication and Will recommend this credit union to friends and family. A+ Molly!

Share why you’d choose this credit union. Sound Credit Union in WA state is a Ripoff. If you have a saving account with money in and didn’t have in out transactions for a year, you’d lose all your saving money. They charge you every month for inactive account until your saving a/c gone down to 0. That happened to us. Go to BECU -the best credit Union, or other reputable banks.

I never thought I'd have to give a 1-star rating, but my recent experience with this credit union has left me deeply disappointed. In 2023, they introduced a new payment portal that affected external transfers--an essential service that we all rely on. After all, what's the point of a bank if you can't access your own money? The transition to their new system has been nothing short of a nightmare. First and foremost, clients are required to re-set up their external transfers, but the process is incredibly buggy and unclear. The lack of clarity has left us frustrated and helpless as we attempt to navigate through the issues, only to discover that our transfers didn't go through as intended (see screenshot for reference). To make matters worse, the new portal completely disregards pre-existing external transfers that many of us had set up for years. This means that those on autopilot now have to log in, attempt to re-establish the transfers, and hope it works, all while receiving little to no communication from the bank about the situation. It's incredibly frustrating to encounter such issues and see a lack of transparency and support from a financial institution we trusted. We hope that Sound Credit Union addresses these problems promptly and takes more proactive steps to communicate with its customers. My recent interaction with Support at Sound Credit Union has left me extremely dissatisfied. Not only did it take days for them to respond to my concerns, but they also hastily closed my case, marking it as resolved, when it is evident that the issue remains unresolved. My external transfers are still not functioning on their new portal system. Closing an unresolved ticket and claiming it as resolved raises serious questions about the level of professionalism and competence of the team handling customer support. I can't help but wonder if this credit union is struggling or going downhill. We initially chose Sound because of its local appeal compared to big banks, but it appears that we may have made the wrong decision in keeping our business here.

I have car loan with SCU. Have NEVER been late! Recently charged a late fee for making my payment early? I made my payment 7 days before the monthly due date. I am at the very end of paying the loan off. Be careful. Will report to FTC.

I run a fleet business and I was hoping to do more business with Sound. However, I cannot work with Kim the branch manager anymore. She said she would do something but she can never follow through, I have to constantly follow up with her. Email, voice mail, calls, NOTHING works. I was hoping that I would be the customer, but no, she is the customer that I am serving. I cannot do business with Sound. Now I am moving to another credit union.

Kim (The Branch Manager) & the whole team there were very nice, and professional. Today I opened up a new account (after many disappointments with "Seattle Credit Union), and Kim showed not only helped me step by step in opening a new account, but she mentioned that because I have no credit rating "0" that later down the line she & I can discuss ways of me establishing credit. I am glad & happy I stopped in "Sound Credit Union" today, and I am looking forward to a long business relationship with this bank...

I have had nothing but issues. I have set up automatic payments twice now and they still can’t take my payments on time. Now I’m paying double payments. The manager is who I’ve been dealing with so it’s disappointing to see it not getting handled the way it needs to. On top of that it’s nearly impossible to get ahold of anyone here that can actually answer questions.

Deborah was amazing! She was more excited to get me approved for an auto loan than I was! She was friendly, quick, and super thorough. She kept me posted every step of the way and gave me all the additional info I needed to make sure I was set up the way I needed to be. I am now even considering making this my full time bank. Fast, friendly, convenient - everything you want at a bank. Thanks Deborah for making this actually a fun process! I would 100% recommend anyone going to this bank!

Run away! They do not answer the phone, they do not return your emails, they charge you fees that that you cannot answer to or contest because they apparently have a no callback/emailback policy. Worst bank I have every been associated with.
