All (actual) military servicemembers and their families ought to know that this place has some horrible policies. I'm unsure if its just for this location or these changes are happening all over the country. If you think this place exists to provide military families deals on goods, you are kidding yourself. They not only let DoD shop there but they also now are letting employees bring civilians on base and shop at the Commissary. This particularly grieves me. It totally dishonors the purpose of the so called privelage and demeans the very benefit they give out. It's no longer a privelage if anyone and everyone can use it. And it's all for the sake of the bottom line. Now you are lying in your advertisement for catering to servicemembers. They charge triple if not more for bags than other grocery stores off base which is also annoying. Of all people, let's go ahead and charge our military and their families for bags. Hey Bangor Commissaries and the crazy heads in Virginia who probably thought this one up-if you want to serve all people then get off base and open a civilian chain.

You can save money by shopping at the commissary and they normally have what I need. This is one of the best benefits for every one eligible to shop there.

Absolutely fantastic bakery. I ordered a cake for my son’s birthday and almost every person at the party told me how amazing it was and asked where I got it. Better than Costco. Tons of detail and a price not to be beat. I will definitely use them for our next party, I couldn’t recommend more.

I purchased ground beef from here and it was completely brown in the middle. Packaging said it was packed on 7/9 however this looked like it was days old meat in the middle and fresh meat wrapped around it. Same with the steaks I purchased. As I was processing the meat, I cut into it and again, completely brown in the middle. I wish I had positive things to say about the commissary. I suggest shopping off base to avoid spoiled meat/produce.

Grateful to have this benefit.
This commissary has a wonderful deli, and meat department. I miss the fish counter.
I can generally find better prices and quality on produce out in town, but I get staple produce here as well.

Clean and organized. Produce isn't great. It's also kind of small, so limited in items.

The grocery manager is horrible and I'm glad she is leaving. She does nothing but complain, make others do her work for her unless it's at her desk then she'd gladly stay there, talk badly about her other workers, and very clearly has favorites. She likes to talk about not starting gossip, when in reality, she starts a lot of it herself and actually had told her daughter about things about someone that works there and it was relayed to the worker. I know lots of things about this person and their that I could've easily spread myself, but I don't have a heart half as ugly as hers.

Clean grocery store for military members. Great prices good, decent selections. Good sandwich bar. Hit or miss on availability of products though.
