No nonsense vet. Have been using this vet for 20 years.

Where do I start... This spring I brought one of my dogs in because she had a lump on the inside of her cheek. It was 7:30 in the morning-had to do a drop off-and they're not my thing. I'm still half asleep, so I accidentally said the wrong cheek. She's there all day and then to be told at 4:30 that nothing is wrong with her. The next morning I call to take her back in and show them the inside of her cheek. Immediately the tech, or whatever she was, rolled her eyes and said, well you said the wrong side. First off, the rudeness was uncalled for, and secondly, If you know anything about medicine you know the physician does their own assessment. Anyway, she has surgery that day, I pick her up and request her blood work. I expressed to them that I was concerned about cushings or thyroid cancer after looking at her labs, combined with some of her other symptoms (they said nothing about her blood work btw). She's elderly and those are definitely on the table. I'm dismissed and told that the vet believes she's fine. Fast forward 5-6 months, I take my younger dog in for gastrointestinal issues, thinking he may have a foreign object. They do x-rays and blood work, no object, but intestines are inflamed. I asked for a injection of electrolytes because he had been intermittently throwing up for 48hrs and only had one bowl movement. No injection, just given anti nausea meds to go home with. Zero explanation on those meds and again ask for blood work. His liver enzymes and eosinophils are all elevated. Eosinophils could be stress, but along with liver, there's probably an infection. They never said anything about his blood work, and I would've never known if I hadn't asked for them. I call another vet and they said he needed to be seen. He received antibiotics. Not sure what happened, but he's ok now. Through every interaction with Mtn. Empire the front desk staff were extremely rude, arrogant, dismissive, and willfully ignorant or just incompetent. Not sure which. This place is an assembly line and I've had better animal care from a ranch hand. Do not take your animals here, you will regret it. Oh, I almost forgot, my elderly dog has Cushings...

Dr Julia is a terrific vet who truly cares for her patients and their people! Also, it is very fairly priced. I highly recommend Mt. Empire for everything from yearly exams and vaccinations to emergencies and illnesses. She even does grooming, boarding and adoptions next door in Julia's Jungle.

Making sure your updated on what's going on. Been going here 13yrs now. They've always been great with my fur baby. From 8 weeks old to 13yrs old now. If you go here you'll get excellent service. Recommend 100%

Stopped by to see if they could give my dog Subcutaneous fluids since she wouldn't drink on the RV trip. They wouldn't help. Sad, such a simple request and easy for a vet tech. Just the noise in the back of dogs crying and barking, the one lady overwhelmed had to ask the other lady working if she could please help.... made me glad they are not my regular vet.

If I could give zero stars, I would. The front desk staff are rude, lack compassion for animals, and treat you like you’re an inconvenience. Brought our kitten in for his rabies vaccine using the coupon we got when we adopted him. They wouldn’t let us go back in the room with him for the vaccine. After waiting about ten minutes I asked if he had the vaccine yet and if not I would like him back. They said the doctor was doing it at that point. When they gave him back, they didn’t give us proof of the rabies vaccine—no tag, no paperwork. They also didn’t explain any of the side effects that we should be aware of. Honestly, not worth the free vaccine and I would have rather taken him to our usual vet and paid for it.
Additionally, the actual clinic is dirty and the cats that walk around the clinic look unhealthy and unhappy.
Don’t go to this clinic, take your pet somewhere else.

Mountain Empire Vet has been my dogs veterinarian for the 16 yrs of my Maltipoo's life. I have never had any complaints up until now. The last couple of times I have taken her in have been very terrible experiences. Their attitudes are not very pleasing at all anymore. I am baffled & disappointed.

Had an emergency with my pup and was told they do walk ins. I brought my pup in to be turned away without them even looking at her. What kind of a vets office won’t even look at a hurt animal???

I called Mountain Empire Veterinary Services approx. 1 1/2 weeks ago to schedule an annual exam for my 8 year old cat. The lady that I spoke with gave me the fees and set an appointment for today Sat. Aug. 17th at 11:15am. In order for me to make the appt. I had to take the morning off from work. When I arrived the lady said she could not find us in their system. I told her that we were new. Then she replied that they are not accepting new patients and she didn't know who I spoke with. I've been waiting 1 1/2 weeks for the appt....was not told that they were not accepting new patients, lost wages, standing there with my cat in his carrier, had previous Vet. records and she arrogantly said she cannot make an exception. If this is the way that they do business, without compassion and no flexibility for their mistake....then they probably don't have compassion for our pets either. I would not recommend Mountain Empire to anyone!!
TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!
I WISH I COULD GIVE THEM NEGATIVE STARS, BUT ONE STAR IS TOO MUCH!!

We’ve gone here for years and put up with horrible service by the front desk. They’re rude, make you wait on hold forever and make you feel like you’re an inconvenience. I’ve put up with it for years for all of our animals. I called to make a vaccine appointment just now and the lady gave me 2 options for times to come in. Neither worked for me so I asked if there were any other options. She was very rude and said no and I might be better off finding another vet. I’m totally shocked they’re fine losing a long standing customer because I can’t come in tomorrow at 7am or this Saturday. Nothing else was offered. Don’t take your pets here. It stinks and is dirty anyway. Not sure why we put up with it for so long.
