“My dad passed away at the end of March. I flew up to Spokane to take care of my mom and get everything in order. Dad handled the money. Mom didn’t even know how to use a debit card since dad paid for everything. So I had a lot of work to do to help her! I walked in to Washington Mutual with my mom and told them dad died. The teller I spoke with knew my dad. They all did. They paused for a moment to talk with my mom and I - not as bankers, but as humans. I NEVER thought people working in a bank would know their customers so well and actually take time to talk with us as humans. They helped me help my mom. They set her up with online banking. My uncle has come in with her and they have even impressed him with the care and service they’ve provided. He told me it was surreal to bank where people treated you like a friend. Since dad’s death, mom has been in a fog. She’s been confused on a few things. I’m sure she’s been cranky with them sometimes (she and my uncle told me she had to Go in and apologize in person because she was getting upset when she was confused). They have been so patient and good at taking care of her. I’m sure it hasn’t been easy on them, but they’ve done such a great job and I appreciate these people so much! My mom now knows: don’t call the 1-800 number, just go in and talk to the people there. They’re so good at taking care of her. She always tells me how they saved the day whenever she goes in. Thank you, to everyone working with my mom. Thank you for taking care of my dad when he was alive. We are in the final stretch with mom. Soon all her finances will be in order and she won’t be asking so many questions. I just want you to know you’re all truly appreciated.”
