Everyone is always very pleasant in here and like to keep the atmosphere friendly and welcoming for all. Always a great time when you get lost in a project and don't even realize the time going by. My boys have there own projects going on and this has been a great summer project for them to do besides be on video games all day.

Poor packing. Box was too small for the greenware. It was like the clerk really didn't care.

Misleading info, poor management. They post they’re not “responsible for any item left over 30 days”, but they mean “any item left over 30 days will be put back on the shelf and sold to someone else”. Even with covid over this last year, they made no exceptions. I spent over $130 on product with my name and phone number on the item. Found out today that they put items back on the shelf if left over 30 days. I was told no matter how long it takes to finish an item it is on the shelf! They don’t have clear posting of their “rules” and then make money off a customer’s purchase but won’t even give a partial refund for table fees, etc Sounds like a scam to me!

The staff are very kind and funny! Chess Ceramics has the biggest collection of greenware pieces I've seen! So many options to choose from, such as dragons, birds, and functional ware such cups and vases. Prices are really reasonable! What's great is that you can work on their the greenware after you buy it, with a table price, you can glaze and fire your work! Everyone who loves working with their hands and doing crafts or art work should come here!

Helpful, knowledgeable, good-humored staff will help you with a thing you need to throw your own pieces, paint pre-poured pieces, and fire everything. They have all the pottery supplies you could need, and really great prices for clay and paint! They also provide tables with table fees to use their tools and paint supplies, which saves me a TON. Love it, and will continue to be a very loyal frequenter.

We went to use our gift card. It was a fun time! They helped us whenever we needed it, and the conversation was lively. We'll definitely be back.

I was looking for somewhere to purchase a bisque vase to paint with acrylics. I was directed to Chess by our local art supply store and I was so pleasantly surprised by what I found when I wandered into this this wonderland of painting opportunities. They carry a small collection of bisque but a gigantic selection of pre-fired clay moldings that you can purchase, clean up and customize(either at the store using their tools and guidance or take it home and bring it back later) then they will fire it for you for a small fee. You can paint it in their store using their paints for a fee or bring in your own, or just take it home and paint it. When you are finished they will put a finisher on it if you would like. They have alot of regulars who come in and sit, chat, paint, and are so nice and helpful to a newbie. I spent about an hour sitting at a table and cleaning up a vase yesterday and felt so comfortable asking for help or when I had questions about how to do something. It is a great casual atmosphere for anyone without small children as this place is so packed with breakables that even I needed to be careful in the isles. This place is truly a Spokane hidden treasure. I cant wait to pick up my vase and begin painting it.

Walked around, had cool things. Didn't buy anything. Not what I expected, was more of an advanced Color-Me-Mine.
