I was really looking forward to our stay here after seeing all of the marketing, but unfortunately it fell short for our family. They seem to cater more to the conference crowd which doesn't bode well for family travelers. Our room wasn't ready at check-in time (they blamed a conference group for late checkout), the beds were very small for 2 people to share (didn't even feel like a full full-sized bed), and like another reviewer commented, the service was slow. The building is also older and the AC and ventilation wasn't that great. It was pretty hot our first night.

JUST THE SERVICE keeps getting worse and the way people that are doing events. Geez is like they rented the whole lodge. Couldn't even enjoy my glass of wine in the picture.

Skamania Lodge is in a beautiful location, but noise was a serious issue during our stay. Our room was next to a suite with a loud party that continued late into the night. Despite calling the front desk multiple times, nothing was resolved. We ended up leaving at 10:30 p.m. and driving home.
They did issue a refund, which we appreciate, but the experience was upsetting and disappointing.
Tip for future guests: Ask for a room without an adjoining door and not next to a suite or event space. If there’s a wedding on site, be prepared for noise. This is not the place for a quiet, relaxing stay if events are happening.

My husband and I live an hour away and have enjoyed coming here for day trips the past few years. We most recently came for his first Father’s Day (6/15/2025) with our baby daughter. Unfortunately eating the salmon caesar salad at their restaurant left me with stomach problems that have lasted for over a month and a half. I even fed some to my daughter who was then sick for a week. I even went to the doctor and got tested and turns out, I have gastroenteritis from Skamania Lodge’s undercooked / bad salmon. Which is a huge disappointment because as a new / postnatal mom, I was actually feeling really good abdominally with all the hard work I’ve put in, only now to suffer from daily bloating and discomfort due to this lingering gastroenteritis that hasn’t gone away. Not okay :( I’m thinking about at least asking for a refund. I treated my husband and I for a Father’s Day lunch, which wasn’t cheap, and now I’m miserable daily because of my stomach discomfort :(

Absolutely fabulous place to stay. The views on the back patio are beautiful. Great staff. The food was delicious. We did the mini putt putt course and found it very challenging and fun. We are definitely coming back.

What a beautiful hidden gem. We have never heard of this place but was gifted a one night stay. The grounds are gorgeous. Lots of fun activities for the kids. We played mini golf and the course was great. The kids also loved completing the scavenger hunts around the property and getting their prizes from the front desk. We got s’mores kits and warmed up by the fire at night. The rooms and grounds are clean and the beds are some of the most comfortable hotel beds I have slept in. The suites were plenty large for our family of 5. The food was okay. We ate at the river rock restaurant. The food was okay. Not a lot of options, but we got there too late to make reservations at the cascade lounge which seemed to have different options. Breakfast took a long time to get to our room about 45 minutes and it was the wrong order. Staying there in the future which we are looking forward to so we can do all the different activities we probably would go down for breakfast so that it’s nice and hot, but we wanted to sleep in before we checked out. Overall it was a great experience. Everyone was so nice and helpful!

3.5/5 for us. My wife and I stayed here Friday/Saturday night in July. We went zip lining and I bruised my ankle on a light pole. I followed all the directions the guides told us, but still hit it. The other guy in our group almost hit it too. They have since moved it down so it won’t happen again. I was fine, and I’m not suing, but I was gravely disappointed at how they handled the situation. The guides checked on me multiple times and gave me first aid bandages for the bleeding, but no one reached out to me to apologize and they didn’t offer anything. I had to ask them the next day to do an accident report. As a business, when someone is injured or inconvenienced by your business you should go above and beyond to make things right, but they did nothing. By the way, I still had a phenomenal time zip lining. I HIGHLY recommend doing it. Don’t let my freak accident deter you. There’s nothing particularly wrong with the lodge. The location is spectacular and the place is beautiful, but there were some issues. We got the trip from a charity auction so our room had two beds, but they were full sized. I’ve never been in a hotel that had full sized beds before, let alone something as expensive as this one. It was difficult for my wife and I to sleep in such a small bed. The staff were friendly and helpful, the restaurant we went to, River something, was phenomenal. Honestly the best part of the lodge. The drinks were great and the food was delicious. There’s no free breakfast, and you basically have to get reservations if you want to be seated within the hour in the morning. They have plenty of parking, and it’s easy to get in and out of the lodge. The place is very family friendly with a big lawn and games set up with a view of the river. There were a bunch of weddings so we got to have music most of the time too. The outdoor hot tub is huge and really amazing.

We love Skamania and have stayed many times over the years. But this visit, someone left glass shards in our bathroom that never got cleaned up, and my daughter stepped on one when getting into the bath. The puncture bled a lot at first and was scary for all of us. I don’t understand how the staff cleared our room for check-in, nor how someone on staff would replace a broken drinking glass (none of our glasses were missing) but fail to clean up the dangerous shards, especially in a space where people will have bare feet. It took the front desk more than 20 minutes to respond to my text about this issue (the glamping tents have no phones, so I was told to text), and hours to resolve it.
In addition to serious safety issues, cleanliness was a problem. When we arrived, we had to clean squirrel droppings off both beds, as well as all over the coffee station. We asked for fresh bedding and skipped using the coffee station or any of the counters for our visit. But because of these two issues, we weren’t able to do anything our first day of our stay but wait on the glamping unit’s deck while various cleaning and bedding crews came out to do the things that should’ve been done well before our stay—remove dangerous glass, provide sanitary bedding, and assure a clean space. Moreover, our daughter was relegated to a chair to stay off her injured foot.
Skamania never offered to move us to a clean, safe room to avoid further inconvenience to us as things were addressed. The manager was focused on filing the incident report rather than addressing losing our trust or trying to right a wrong. He offered us a free meal just before he left, but we didn’t feel that our scary, upsetting experience actually mattered to him, except from a legal perspective.
We made the most of our stay—the grounds are beautiful, and my daughter was fortunately able to get back onto her foot the next day—but we’re disappointed about how we were treated this visit, especially given the dangerous incident with the glass shards.

Great location. Great view. Good food. Par 3 exec golf was in a stunning setting. Turf greens were kinda weird. Outside fireplace is great. Wish it staid open later than 10pm.

They definitely charge luxury prices, but they match the price with excellence. Service was excellent, from the moment we arrived. Beautiful scenery. Kind & accommodating staff. Excellent amenities.

For a nice resort, this place is lacking in some significant ways. First I was frustrated by the booking process. The rates advertised on their calendar that were supposedly inclusive of fees were not what final bill was. I reached out to the manager via email about this TWICE and heard nothing back. And then despite the rates claiming they were inclusive of “all fees”, there’s a $15/day (plus tax!) Parking Fee they didn’t mention AT ALL —even when they handed me the parking pass to put in my car. I didn’t see that until checkout on the receipt. It’s ridiculous. This place isn’t in an expensive city where parking is at a premium. It’s in the middle of the freakin’ woods. You’re not going to uber here, you’re going to drive so it seemed like a blatant lie AGAIN that the rate was inclusive of all fees.
But besides the price, the room was just OK and the service and food options were pretty bad. The room was very dark (even with all lights on, and not all of them worked) and very cold!! The ac unit was on constantly even when I had it turned OFF. I had to call to get that fixed. They actually did fix this after I called. The pillows were very lumpy and the toilet made this crazy whining sound for several minutes after flushing.
At Checkin, I was told that for multi day stays, housekeeping was by request. I requested it. I was given a cheerful “ok!” But no one ever came. We then mentioned at the front desk that they never came and we At least wanted coffee and clean cups delivered, and the guy tried to just hand us some pods (uh, no, sir. Can you please have someone deliver to our room since we are heading out?).
And the food situation was frustrating. There is ONE option for breakfast—a$20 buffet. One option for lunch (the fancy dining room). The bar/lounge doesn’t open until 2pm so when we finished golf (which WAS nice, and the guy working the golf shop was very nice and helpful ) at 12:30, we couldn’t even sit and have a snack and cocktail, which is what we really wanted.
When we did eat onsite we noticed the online menus were FAR better than the actual menus and the food we ordered was expensive and just ok. Not even good. They have two additional restaurant spaces that would have been lovely to sit at and eat while enjoying the outdoors, but they were closed. In mid -July, peak season. Why? We ended up leaving property to eat and had a much better experience.
The best part of the stay was the view. They have chairs set up outside to enjoy the view of nature/the gorge. That was lovely. And they have games set up for people and kids to play on the lawn. That was a nice touch. But overall I was not impressed and won’t be back.
