I rarely post public reviews on anything, but do feel my experience may be informative for potential future employees.
I don't ask for much in a reasonably managed workplace. But from the onset of my time with Rainier, I felt expendable. Turnover in labor was mentioned either directly or passively pretty often as a highly recurrent norm there by employees I came to know. I worked in their metal shop, and almost every single job order I was assigned had a target completion date on the paperwork that was before I even began with the company in December - which I believe speaks to either issues in retaining talent to complete job orders on time or unrealistic deadlines cast down by management. In reading other testimonies across the web and being there myself, I can see both being true.
I myself was terminated recently for apparently committing too many absences while sick this winter season. HR simply told me that my number of absences exceeded the limit listed in the employee handbook - except, there was never once such a handbook made available to me during my time there. I went back through all introductory communications received by HR during onboarding, and even recalled saving copies of all PDF documents sent to me during that phase. No handbook was included in those emails, and their version of Dayforce contains no handbook either (checked repeatedly in reference to other questions I had on other topics during my employment).
I even asked my manager why no verbal warning or sitdown was ever done to keep me in the loop on where I stood relative to the (uncommunicated) rule. He seriously told me in response that they only bother giving out such warnings/reminders to long-time employees, a statement which tells much of the story in itself. Evidently, everyone else is unworthy of even that much of a discussion. I was a studious worker who strived for quality and strong working relationships with our fellow departments. I felt I deserved more than to get cut out so abruptly for illnesses I could do nothing about.
Other issues existed. Compensation was reasonable for my role, but on the lower end of that spectrum. During inventory checks, I repeatedly had to hear from others in my department that stock items were mislabeled in our warehouse and that nothing was being done about it. The work itself bordered on excessive in physical demands, and I incurred multiple overuse inquiries. To their credit, management tried to work with me on this in moving me to a different set of tasks when I suffered an injury operating their equipment exactly as I was instructed to. But that's about all I can say happened in a constructive and laudable way during my time.
A running theme you may find in reviews across the internet is that fellow employees are "nice" despite the issues present in the workplace. And this is true. But a few employees, who have been around long enough, will also treat newcomers as if they simply do not belong in the shop environment, which was another trend I felt I had to report to management (not long before my firing, unsurprisingly enough).
While I am grateful to certain coworkers who taught me what I needed to know for this role and in shop work in general, my impression of Rainier is a company which seems in a continuous hurry to get rid of people who will actually speak up on the shortcomings in the workplace. "Just put up with it" shouldn't be a unifying motto for any labor force. There, it feels like the benchmark for a longterm stay of employment. And if you decide to work there, don't look too far past the conditions clear and evident right before you. They'll tell you all you need to know.

A heavy storm damaged my 22-year-old , 15-year yurt cover. The folks at Rainier manufactured a new one for me in just a few days and my Mary Rose Herb Farm yurt bed and breakfast is better than ever! Now, that's what I call SPECTACULAR service.

To be honest I’m very disappointed with Rainier. We had great customer service until our yurt was out the door. We purchased a gutter system for it and to my knowledge we are the first and only ones with the system. I didnt look at the system too well at their display, it was very poorly engineered and to be honest did not function at all. the downspouts were not channeled down and sit high in the gutter so the gutter just fills and pours out the side. The gutter also has metal brackets that hold the fabric in place but no stopping point so when it heats up they loosen and flop over and are useless. I currently have fixed this problem of my own means since i contacted the sales representative and he just ignored me after i told them of the problem and he said he sent it to engineering. I didnt get a response after he sent it to engineering and it has been 4 months. Also since i have realized that the diameter of the gutter system is for a 27 foot yurt and mine is a 30 foot yurt… the gap can not be centered on a door or two of the down spouts will be through a window. The fact that i paid so much for a product that simply wont work and then to be ghosted after the sale was finalized is sad. I since then contacted engineering again and have not had anyone reach out. If you buy from rainer make sure you get all the help you need before the purchase is finalized don’t expect help after.

This review is for Dana the Yurt Girl. I reached out to Dana in hopes of getting help with a floor plan for my yurt that will be built this Fall. I have very little faith in contacting companies and actually receiving a response this day and age, but oh my god was I blown away! Dana not only responded, but we also personally spoke on the phone twice and emailed back and forth with prompt responses. She was absolutely amazing. So friendly and knowledgeable of her field and gave me exactly what I wanted for my yurt design. I cannot recommend her, or Rainier Yurts enough. Truly top notch.

We've been working with them for 20 years and they treat our little family owned business like a corporate powerhouse. I can't say enough good things about the people we've had the pleasure of working with all of these years.

As a small company, it is often difficult to get product development support from larger contract manufacturers. The team at Rainier is competent, helpful and responsive. Two thumbs up from me.

Whether you are looking for a vacation cabin getaway or a solution for beating the quarantine blues, Rainier Outdoors (a.k.a. Rainier Industries) has you covered... literally. We ordered a glamping cottage from Rainier Outdoors late this spring and within a few weeks it was delivered. The plans provided for platform construction were just what we needed to prepare the deck for tent cottage assembly. The engineering and design is thoughtful, and the parts supplied are of the highest quality. The entire team at Rainier was responsive when we had questions about some of the more complicated aspects of cottage assembly. We are relatively handy and skilled at basic construction and were able to do 100% of the platform, cottage assembly, deck and stair building as a family DIY project. The finished structure is simply delightful and amazing. SO HAPPY to have found Rainier Industries and feel confident that we are enjoying one of the finest glamping cottages or custom yurts available anywhere. Thank you Rainier Outdoors for helping us realize our vacation cottage dreams!

We bought our 30' Eagle yurt from Rainier in 2005 and it has served as a real refuge for us ever since. We moved to Vermont in 2015 and brought our yurt with us. We lived in it full-time for two years while we built our house. We loved living in our Rainier yurt so much that we designed and built a round house that is very yurt like. We have been exceptionally pleased with our Eagle yurt. It is incredibly well engineered and designed. The craftsmanship and materials are of the highest quality and the customer service is top notch. I cannot praise them highly enough.

The Rainier staff that came to our house caused $10,000 in damage due to negligent installation.
We hired them to install a retractable awning from our roof. They forgot to properly seal the lag bolts, which caused rainwater to seep into our walls, leak into our house, and cause rot. When they came back to apply silicone to the bolts, the leaking stopped but the damage was done.
Their insurance firm denied responsibility for the damage and we are now facing $10,000 in repairs. If they had installed the awning properly none of this would have happened.
