“We recently had to put our first family dog down who we had since we were 19. We were really concerned with the process and wanted him to have the best, most comfortable care. We had seen other dogs put down at other facilities and were never really impressed with how it was handled. The dog would lay on a thin blanket in a normal vet room and that’s how they got put down. At Tumwater vet they had a whole separate room. It was filled with comfy seats and a comfy couch along with a padded blanket floor for the dog to lay on. They stocked it with snacks and brought out a tray of doggy treats like chocolate and peanut butter and some water. They gave us as much time as needed and provided a free paw or nose print. The lights were dim and once we were ready they gave him a sleeping sedative and then stopped his heart. It was very peaceful and we laid with him for awhile. We were even able to bring our other dog(which they crated for us during the process) in to see him after he passed. All in all the best possible experience we could’ve had for one of the toughest moments for our family.”

We first tried to make an appointment with an animal hospital a little closer to our home for a suspected UTI (blood in urine), but they did not have availability for 3 weeks. I expected they would have attempted to squeeze us in considering the urgency, but no such luck. I then called Deschutes Animal Clinic and they were able to squeeze us in same day. They were very clear on the estimates, choices and procedure up front. They even provided printouts of everything we discussed with more details. Dr. Smith was friendly, helpful and professional. We found our new vet for our 3 dogs. Highly recommend.”

“I have to say that I was really nervous about getting an international health certificate for my little Pomeranian however USDA Tumwater made it very easy. I went to an approved vet, had the paperwork done online and sent it back to me via UPS. I was able to check the status regularly via an email and a phone call. Everybody was friendly and helpful. These people are doing a great job!”
