Under new management! I recently found myself in need of a new stylist, as mine was going to retire. I am from the area and popped into Impulse on a whim. I met the new owner/manager, Laurie at the front desk who was so sweet. She scheduled me an appointment for the following day. I loved that she was so accommodating and welcoming. We chatted as she did a color for me and I was really impressed with how it turned out! Will be coming back for sure!

I was going in to the Pine Cone restaurant yesterday and was appalled at the rudeness and disrespectfulness of the operators on their break behind the Impulse Salon, aptly named. I guess they thought that they could behave however they felt at that moment. They were leering and gesturing at the people going in and out as there was an AA. meeting being held there. Maybe they thought we were going there because we had to park in back as the front parking was full. I told them they had bad attitudes and they looked at me like deer in the headlights. Yes, I was speaking to you. I see from the other review that they are real losers. Yes, they looked like they came straight out of the Ozarks! I was ready to go in to speak with the manager but decided like the other woman to never give them my business and tell all who would listen. Hey Owner, Wake Up and hire professional operators. You are operating in an upper middle class area!?!

I recently moved to UP and was looking for a stylist/salon today. I figure there are salons on every block so I wanted to walk in to check out a few before I scheduled an appointment. I walked into Impulse Salon and the lady with discolored teeth was looking at me with an irritated look while she was finishing a transaction with another customer. I didn't want to interrupt them and I had no problem waiting for her assistance. But while i was waiting, she looked at me (as if i were interrupting)and said "What do you need?" So I was a little embarrassed because her customers were right there and she was being sort of rude to me. I said I needed a hair cut if possible. Then she proceeded to tell me that it was just two of them and they can't do it. And that was that. She just went back to her customer and didn't bother asking if I wanted to schedule an appointment. I kind of felt dumb for even trying to GET A SERVICE THERE. Then i thought, why the hell would i spend my money here at this point. Plus, business must be so good that new customers must be a nuisance. MY WHOLE EXPERIENCE FROM THE MOMENT I WALKED IN THE DOOR was total opposite of what I'd like to feel when I am shopping for a place to get services. So when people say things like " What do you need" instead of "Can I help you" or just a simple "Hello. What can I help you with today, we're you looking for a service," I just don't get it. I had an uncomfortable, unwelcoming experience there and my family and I will not be frequenting there, nor recommending this place to anyone. (By the way, I'm the lady with the red lipstick.) Bad customer service is a deal breaker for me when there's a salon on every block in this neighborhood.
