after 45yrs of going to this vet cliniic and then having the best vet in the area sell his/this practice to a greedy incompetent bunch of yuppie vets...i am writing a final "goodbye folks". my dogs are intitled to better care than this... the office staff is rude and they lie right to your fentitledace about appts., pricing, and the qualitty of their vets. the office staff is worse than the vet. care. you can get a complete run down from the staff on how to take a "AAA" veterinary practice and run it into the ground,, just ask the staff!!

I've come to Orchards for 4 years now. Anytime I've gone to another vet (Covid really booked everyone out), it's reminded me of why I always come back to this place. This week there was an emergency with one of our cats. This happened on Monday, March 28th around 5pm. (Putting the time/date to really shine a spotlight on the amazing receptionist, who's name I can't remember). Orchards was the first place I called and they immediately agreed it was a major issue and validated every concern with immense empathy. The receptionist informed me they were booked up but they would call me back and see what they could do. They sounded really busy, and I assumed I wouldn't hear a reply since they're a smaller place. After calling around, a lot of other vets worked me into a frenzy to go to try an emergency vet. I was about to leave with my cat in a crate when I got a call from orchards, the same receptionist offering to get me in a few days later. She talked me through every symptom and sign to look for until his walk-in. I left the conversation feeling a lot more educated and less stressed. It seems so small, but it really made such a difference to get that call back and it was such a testament to her customer service and care for the animals that come in. During his appointment, they managed everything perfectly. I felt secure knowing he was being well-taken care of. After his care, Dr. Atwell spent so much time explaining what they found. I left with that same sense of trust that my pet was going to be okay. I can't recommend this vet office enough. Anytime I come in, the receptionists are kind, and register my animals in a way that makes me feel safe. They always answer my calls and questions. And Dr. Atwell is always willing to explain any procedure or medical concern with empathy. I can't believe you guys managed the same service during Covid too. So thank you! Cat tax attached in photo

I used to think this place was great and did get used to get good service and smart consultation from all the veterinarians and technicians there. In fact, I have about or over $25k worth of invoices treating my beloved pet and her skin condition until I got this in control doing my own research. My dog was the best so no disappointments there however I must say Orchards let me down bad when I needed them the most. To be more specific their arcane covid protocols seemed ridiculous for people who should know better. I will never forget how they left me on my own when needing to decide or have end of life consultation and services. This after developing a long-term relationship with Dr Eric and others, being too busy to help is no excuse. Bringing my best friend and leaving her on a table alone to be put down is beyond absurd to me. Having to make that decision on my own after all that is unforgivable. If you want better attention, go elsewhere.

Orchards Vet has been our first choice for Veterinary care for decades. My very first pet as a child had all of her care here (and I'm over 40!). My husband had used OVC as well before we became a family. In 2019, our beloved chocolate lab, Tugboat, had a major decline in his health. We will forever be grateful for the care he received during this hard time. It was determined that he had essentially a pituitary gland tumor, and we exhausted all treatment options possible short of a high risk, poor outcome surgery option. Dr. Snowden was AMAZING. I'll never forget the Saturday morning he called us and said that he felt we'd done all we could and that it might be best to think about sending Tugboat to heaven. He sat with my husband and I on the phone as we cried. Dr. Snowden gave us options on a Veterinarian who would make a house call so we could keep Tugboat in familiar surroundings when it was time for him to go to heaven. Afterwards, we received the nicest card and follow up from Orchards, and felt so supported by them as we navigated this loss. In the past few years we've experienced some barriers with OVC. Mainly, availability of appointments, long hold times when calling, inadequate waiting room space, and sometimes challenging parking lot space. Once COVID hit, more issues such as a number to call when you arrived but then you'd call and the call would disconnect. We also had many instances of very long wait times with an appointment, which is hard because while we understand emergencies happen, it's difficult to block out 2 hours during the day to wait at vet. We are currently utilizing another Vancouver vet for basic stuff such as shots and minor things. This is mostly because it's closer to our house and it's been easier to get an appointment. However, we are still loyal to Orchards and they absolutely have our trust with care. And, if our current lab were to have something major going on, we would definitely want Dr. Snowden to be involved. We know COVID has made things hard for all businesses, and we don't hold this against OVC. We are thankful for the years of care that they've given our pets, the kindness we've experienced especially during hard times, and we are absolutely still loyal to them - however, I don't think it's a bad thing for customers to also have an alternate vet they can use. This has worked well for us this past year, and we have appreciated that both OVC and the other vet we've been using don't seem to mind that we've utilized both of them (OVC was wonderful with sharing our dog's records).

I really loved this clinic until I spoke with Wayne. On 2 occasions I had a conversation with him and he just comes across cold hearted. Trying to talk to my vet when it's an emergency.. I was told the clinic was closed down due to COVID outbreak . I asked if Dr Atwell could call me and Wayne said no ! I was told the clinic was closed for the weekend nobody was available. I'm so frustrated I don't even know if I want to use them anymore. I understand COVID and all but after going there for 10+ years one would think in an emergency one could talk to their vet. Then I had to make the decision to put my dog down. Then today Dr. Atwell called to see if we could make a appointment to see my pet. I was just told yesterday that they was closed for the week due to a Covid outbreak. And nobody could help me. Fortunately I found a company that could come into the home and euthanize my animal.RIP Sally Rose you will be forever missed .

Orchards Veterinary Clinic Orchards Veterinary Clinic Veterinarians 6307 NE 117th Ave Vancouver, WA 98662 1.0 star rating 1/7/2022 Our family and friends have used this clinic for our pets for 20+ years. It's a very busy clinic. They don't oversell unnecessary procedures and pull on your heartstrings and take advantage like other clinics do. You're probably wondering why the one star rating then. Our dog needs sedation to trim his nails. Due to covid (we all have been hit hard) and the stay at home order we have been unable to get our dog in for his nail trim. Periodically one of his nails will break and it's very painful for him. My husband called and spoke to Lisa seeking walk-in times and was told they are no longer doing that so he requested an appointment and was chastised instead, "if you would cut your dogs nails more often this wouldn't happen" and told he needs to take his dog somewhere else. I called back and spoke with Lisa explaining the situation and was essentially told the same thing. She argued with me and was EXTREMELY rude and unprofessional. She refused to schedule our dog an appointment period! I explained that I would seek medical attention somewhere else in the meantime and cancel the appointment if I found help sooner. She still refused and hung up on me. I called back and was passed through two people that were obviously asking her what to do. A very kind woman came on the phone and said our dog is due for his vaccine boosters and the earliest appointment is February 2, 2022, then quickly asked to put me on hold. Lisa came back on the phone and began to refuse me an appointment claiming liability if we wait to fix his toenail. Remember he is also due for vaccines and still needs his toenails trimmed. She googled nearby vet offices and acted like I should be so grateful that she is passing us off to somewhere else. I still asked for an appointment and she was hesitant to give me one and lied and said the soonest he could be seen was February 11, 2022, keep in mind five minutes before that I was told 2/2 was open. I called her bluff and scheduled him for the 2nd. I'm extremely disappointed and will never use this clinic EVER again. I will make it my life's mission to tell everyone I know about this and stop them from using this clinic. I will go on every social media platform and shout from the rooftops to let everyone know that this clinic has horrible customer service and do not care about their patients. It's a shame because the Doctors are amazing. I'm serious, take your family elsewhere! My dog is in pain and the soonest they are willing to see him is a month away. When I call I'm criticized and told how I should care for him by a receptionist. I don't think so.

I don't understand your response or what you mean by requesting a same day appointment. I was seeking help for Courage. You weren't even going to offer names or suggestions of places that might provide life saving services for one of your own patients. You had no compassion or suggestions and the only thing your staff could help me with was accusations that I wasn't making regular appointments when in fact I was and he had an appointment later that same month. But now you're saying that I was upset because you could not provide a same day appointment even though I asked if I could be on a walk in basis for emergency care. Put us on a list or something just in case we couldn't get him into a hospital. We had to take him to an out of state hospital because none around here could see him. They all at least made us aware of all the facilities to check into. Your office did absolutely nothing for us. Just tried to make it sound like I was neglecting his care. I made all appointments through the Pet Desk app everytime I got the reminders of dates for future treatments e.t.c. my babies always had appointments when needed. And up until this last incident I was very satisfied with your staff and the treatment of my fur babies. But the heartless lack of concern and lack of empathy and the neglect of my fur baby even just this one time..is to me..unforgivable. My daughter in law did call.. very upset..I found out later.. her and my son rescued this baby when he was just a few weeks old. We took turns bottle feeding and caring for him. I paid for all his treatments even though we were looking for a home for him. She was devastated as much as I was by your lack of concern and heartless attitude. She only voiced what we were all feeling. There should never be anything bad about said about her being upset. You failed to provide for one of your own patients who needed you desperately. We're not the bad people here. Only human reactions to thinking we might be losing a very loved part of our family. Shame on you for trying to portray our grief as unreasonable.

Today was the final straw. I've been a client at Orchards vet for years and dealt with phones being busy for 30 or more minutes, being put on hold for more than 30 minutes, waiting up to an hour to see the vet (an hour after my actual appointment time), and waiting more than 30 minutes to get an invoice to check out and pay (pre Covid). All this because I like and trust Dr. Atwell. But today I'm done. I was a few minutes early for an 11 o'clock appointment and had to wait 28 minutes to get her in. The system currently used there is to go in and put your pet in an unoccupied room (pets name is written outside on the room's door) and go back to the car and wait for vet to call. I did so. Vet called and we talked. I was told my pet would be back in the same room waiting and I was to go get her right away. Paperwork was going to take a few minutes and I would be called as I waited in the car with my pet. I went in to get my pet...no pet in the room marked with her name (same room she went in at first). I waited a few minutes...no pet. I tried calling and got a recording telling me to call back. I called for approximately 10 minutes and got a recording each time (10-15 calls or so). While I was standing outside the door trying to get through on the phone, I could hear a pet frantically whining and barking in the adjoining room. Finally got through on the phone and I told them my pet wasn't in the room. I was told she was... She was NOT. A couple of minutes later a tech brought her into the correct room. My pet was frantic - panting with anxiety and fear. I complained and was offered a lame excuse about a door not locking or something. No apology. I told her I wouldn't return there again - even after using them for years. Still no apology.

This morning I took my Chihuahua in for a routine visit, vaccinations.. with COVID protocol, I wasn't allowed in with her, I had to wait in my car. About 10 minutes after handing over my dog to them, I get a phone call from the vet stating that while he was getting my dog out of her cage, her toenail got 'caught' in the blanket I had in her cage and somehow ripped her whole toenail off- and now there's blood. I don't understand how getting my barely 7 pound dog out of her cage breaks her whole toenail, caught in a blanket or not. It sounds to me as if they were rushing and probably not giving much gentle care to get her out. After speaking to the vet on the phone, he was very condescending speaking with me as well he made it out to seem like he did me a favor by not charging me for bandaging up her foot/ giving her pain medication for her foot that he injured. Annnnnd after all of this- I had to drive back to the vet as they forgot to give me the medication. They also gave me absolutely no after care on how to help my dogs foot heal. They gave me an IV bag cut in half rigged with a piece of gauze to 'tie' around my dogs bandage every time she goes outside. Her leg is the size of a pencil, so obviously the half cut iv bag just falls off. As well, to orchards staff who has responded to my husbands review, 'your wife was more than understanding at the time' I'm just curious, we're you expecting me to be confrontational with you? I have extreme anxiety and your veterinarian injuring my dogs foot, along with your dismissal of me and you think I am 'completely understanding' of the situation is incorrect. Please train your staff to treat animals with compassion and care or close your doors.

I've known Jud Witherspoon for several decades. That tells you nearly how old we are! he works part time in the clinic these days. Excellent staff! The Vet Techs are as top notch as the Vets! We feel that they care as much for our pets as we do!

I cannot say enough about how much we love this Veterinary clinic. My family has been taking our animals to this clinic for 30 years. I live in Washougal and still take my animals to this clinic. I see their packed lobby and long waits as a sign that they are well loved and do a great job. Dr. Eric has been our animals vet for a long time and we always appreciate the time he spends with us and our animals. He takes the times to talk to us and answer all of our questions and concerns. You guys are doing a great job through all the COVID rules etc., and we appreciate the easy drop off.
