On the smaller side and not much options . Severely understaffed because half the checkout options were closed. The self checkout line was all the way back till the freezer aisle . I came in to only grab one item and had to wait 15 minutes just to get billed . I feel the parking lot is bigger than the store itself .

Unbelievably over-priced. It's pathetic how much they expect people to pay for things that cost half as much literally everywhere else.

On Monday morning, October 3rd I walked into Safeway Main Street hoping to get a bivalent Covid vaccine. The pharmacy was very busy with 5-7 people lining up & completing forms. The front desk pharmacy staff did an outstanding job of getting paperwork from people, keeping it organized & efficiently processing people & getting them vaccinated. Olga the staff member administering vaccines was equally efficient & professional. I wanted to recognize the outstanding service! I needed this vaccine to attend a family wedding so I am thankful for the great service!

This Safeway is small and doesn't have a lot of options compared to other Safeway or grocery stores. The employees were very nice though, they greet you and ask if you need any help.

Verify your covid vaccine hand written card given to you at the pharmacy after your injection matches your vaccine Washington Department of Health website records. Mine didn't. Important because it might appear I had falsified or tampered with hand written card information - a crime. Also vaccine proof needs to verified for travel etc.. Contacted pharmacy and 1st was told the WA website information was correct. After requesting additional information the Tech discovered it was a data entry mistake. She said it will be corrected within 2 days. She was very helpful.

Apparently their app isn't accurate and they don't have the inventory they claim to online/available for pick. Don't waste your time. The customer service guy was a j*** while rudely explaining this to me.

Product turnover must not be the fastest here. Freshness can be iffy on perishables. For anything that has an expiration date, you ought to make sure to check it when shopping at this location. Followup (added after business response): in the past, maybe a year ago or so I would actually find items that were past expiration. More recently, even if things are not expired, I thought it's more common at this location to come across things getting pretty close to expiration date compared to higher traffic stores in Portland. This is something to keep in mind if you're stocking up.

Extremely disappointing. Not following covid practices. Masks not enforced. Multiple people have the store without masks, employees said nothing to them. Some employees are extremely rude, acting like having to remove items to afford is an extreme inconvenience. If it wasn't so close to my house I would not be coming back.

With the pandemic in full swing and gearing up for the second wave, there is a statewide mask mandate stating "no mask, no entry" and yet TODAY 10/18/2020, I saw two customers without masks. One was roaming the store, touching things, picking up, putting down. The other was in self-checkout, and had the young cashier over to her machine, "assisting" her.

I give a Five Star review For my neighborhood Safeway ( for some reason those red stars above wouldnt allow me to choose 5-. Its a cool atmosphere here...friendly & totally customer service oriented. Both managers have gone to great lengths to help me with various needs Ive had as a disabled person. They are familiar, friendly faces which remind me of times long ago during my childhood, when the corner grocer knew us all by name. Even when theres issues with shoplifters ( Ive witnessed a few getting caught) managers dont act like the iron hand of a Gastapo . They dont call in the troups who bring 3 cops & handcuffs to escort a shoplifter off to jail ( who stole an apple) Like they do at Winco/ Fred meyers. Instead they quietly go into office behind closed doors ( handling the theft personally) & allowing shoplifter to leave quietly. No drama, no shame, or undue embarrassments. This, to me shows a part of a collective effort within their employees to maintain a respectful & peaceful atmosphere for both customers & employees. I have a " companion"- service dog also ( who is registered as such through ADA) Ive never been asked to see his paperwork certification, or WHY I need him with me in store. We are welcomed with friendliness & some of the cashiers even know his name & give him treats. This is a breath of fresh air, as Ive not felt welcome in other markets ( even after showing dogs certificate). Atmosphere & customer service is everything in any retail business especially grocery stores. My praise goes out to all of the employees at this Main St Safeway. I hope they are aware of what a positive difference they all make for their customers

I used to have a pretty good time at my local Safeway in Washougal, WA. There are only really two major grocery stores here and Safeway is one of them. The checkers are friendly and being a newly constructed Safeway it is well lighted and well organized. However....... with the coming of Covid 19, this Safeway is not doing a very good job on having their customers to put on masks. I find way too many people without masks shop there now. I cannot afford to get this virus. I will have to go to the only other store in Washougal or out of Washougal for groceries now. :(
