This store is big and well-lit with plenty of space in the aisles. They always seem to have everything you need in stock. There is a good section on the left with lots of fresh salads, which is pretty nice. And the fruit and veggies section is massive, with all the colorful, healthy stuff you could want. I have always used self-checkout so no idea about the service here.

BEWARE!!!! Hazel Dell Safeway is overcharging customers that go through the Self Checkout registers. Items on the Weekly Add do not ring up with the advertised price. The manager, Kelly Enright is very aware of this problem but does nothing to change it. Items from the Weekly Add consistently, for 5 years, do not ring up correctly. Just yesterday I had the issue, the clerk who assists the check out registers, zero'd out my register and rang it up on her register telling me that the items DO ring up correctly from her register but the bacon that was on sale did not ring up correctly. Three pound bacon should have rung up about $9.66 rang up as $17+.. London Broil was supposed to be $1.97 per pound, on two packages I was overcharged $29.00! This is unacceptable. The issue is PURPOSELY not being fixed taking money from your wallet and giving it to Safeway. Who knows, someone could be fixing the price after the fact and pocketing the money. This is horrible. BEWARE!!!!! I told the manager if it happens to me again I will be filing a class action suit for false advertising!

Store Director walking around without a mask, talking to employees very much up close and personal. He wasn't wearing a mask when I walked in as he was talking to an employee, and he still wasn't wearing one as I left (also talking to an employee). I love this Safeway and all the regular employees, but that behavior from a store director was very disappointing. Employees need to be protected as much as possible given their exposure to the public and therefore COVID!

I know that we are in a stressful time right now but I literally have always had issues with the customer service in this store. If you are going to work at the customer service desk why not have that skill... just saying!! Absolutely rude! Today I got to observe the woman at the desk be so rude to a teenage girl she walked out upset and crying. Way to go!! Over asking for some ones with her change back.

The staff here is really nice. Sadly, the trend towards self-checkout has been adopted by Safeway as well. But that's not the staff's fault. As for groceries, watch the pricing, watch the quality and you should be okay. One time I got the best piece of halibut here. Non-grocery items like paper products are usually cheaper elsewhere.

I shop here regularly... I have been shopping here for many years. Safeway's new movement towards self service may be the end of that. They had no people available to actually cash me out and so I had to use the self service machine, which was a nightmare. The service platform is not big enough for more than one or two bags and if you move something to your basket then the auto teller shuts down and calls for help. In fact The thing shuts down if you even look at it sideways. It probably summoned help about eight times in a row. The thing that made Safeway even halfway decent was pleasant customer service. No service, no point in paying their premium prices. I have never supported this movement towards self service, but if you can't even do it in a reasonable manner, then You might as well tell me that you don't want my business anymore.
