Called to have a prescription transferred because my doctor had made an error on the prescription, prescribing it as one per day when it was supposed to be two. She sent in the updated prescription and it wasn’t in stock at my normal Safeway.
The woman who took my call was extremely loud and rude, hard to understand and made numerous mistakes inputting my info to pull up my profile. She didn’t grasp what I was telling her or want to, just kept repeating the same info again and again and I told her that she wasn’t listening to me and repeated my issue.
She listened and then rudely said to me “are you ready to listen now?” So once again she did not listen. Absolutely nasty and not worth the hassle. I have never had such a terrible experience with a pharmacy employee in my life. She does not belong in any customer service roles whatsoever let alone medication which is a very sensitive topic. Completely flabbergasted.

Won’t fill a controlled substance aka any adhd med or anxiety, sleep medication through a discount card without getting a denial from insurance. This is literally the only Safeway I have ever ran to I an issue with. Completely ridiculous to the point my insurance was confused… I only use the discount card because my insurance had a long process that always results in denial…. Literally asked if I didn’t have insurance what would they do.., and they said well they can tell I have active insurance on file… this is weird even by united heath care rep standards as I asked when I called. Bordering on discrimination.

The pharmacists and technicians are attentive and genuinely concerned about their patients! :)
The only drawback lately is an occasional lack of staffing, but that needs to be addressed by corporate, not the employees.

Easily the worst pharmacy I have ever had the misfortune of using. Constantly send out false texts claiming a prescription is ready but then upon coming in to pick it up, it’s all of a sudden unavailable or not prepared. They always blame us the customer, and never take accountability for their blatant mistakes.
They also NEVER will call you if your medication is unavailable or out of stock. We gave the benefit of the doubt, time and time again but it’s the last straw. I’d rather spend double the price if necessary than to EVER go back to this horrendous pathetic excuse for a pharmacy.

Well let me first say, we transferred from Safeway to CVS due to CVS being a preferred provider. The staff at Safeway has always been kind and helpful. Like any business they get backed up from time to time. People have bad days too and sometimes they let it spill over into work(we are all human) all this said... We are switching back to Safeway for all our prescriptions.

I have to pick up prescriptions for myself, my mother AND my daughter. I can’t tell you how much worse the experience is for me when some random new female Safeway Pharmacy employee gives me attitude! If you hate your job…then quit.
