About The Academy
Based on the reviews, The Academy is a beautiful old Vancouver landmark with a wonderful history. It is a work in progress being rehabbed and refurbished, but already beautifully restored. The venue has a chapel with fine and beautiful wood carving by Mother Joseph Pariseau. The building has wood floors that creek. It offers free guided tours, which are highly recommended. The Academy hosts fine culture events like concerts and jazz orchestra events. Several local businesses have on-site offices, including a salon and therapist offices. A gift shop is on site. The venue is handicap doable with elevators and restrooms available. Overall, it is a recommended venue.

We took a free guided tour. Colleen, our dosette, was remarkable. Her knowledge and kindness were beyond compare. We got to walk around the whole academy. My favorite part was the attic. I highly recommend taking a guided tour here.

Amazing venue! Mother Joseph decided in order to get what she wanted in the chapel, she would have to carve the wood herself and walhat a fine and beautiful result. We went to hear a Woody Guthrie educational concert. What a fine culture event!
