About Amtrak Station
The Amtrak Station in Vancouver offers a convenient travel option with a friendly staff and a clean, well-maintained building. The station is small and located in an industrial area just west of downtown, making it accessible though somewhat out of the way. It features an indoor waiting area with AC, a desk agent, vending machines, bathrooms, and interesting historical exhibits, including a scale model of the old train yard. The station has two platforms serving east-south and north-south trains, with some signage that could be improved to help travelers navigate crossing tracks and platform access more easily. Parking is available, including long-term options, but travelers should pay attention to signs, as not all parking is designated for long-term use. The station is situated near a busy freight route, so trains pass frequently, which may contribute to noise during working hours. Information about train status is well communicated by conductors, and the staff at the ticket office are knowledgeable about the area, providing helpful directions for Uber, taxis, and lodging. However, amenities are limited, with no public bathrooms at the station, so travelers are advised to use the bathrooms on the train or at home. Some visitors noted that parking can be challenging during peak times and that the station's location in an industrial zone might feel a bit remote. Overall, the station is a good place for train travel, especially for those interested in train watching or avoiding busier stations in Portland. Despite some staff issues experienced during a trip, the overall experience remains positive, with a love for train journeys continuing.

Friendly staff at Vancouver station and train. Need more parking. Not sure what we will do if the 2 hour parking is all that’s available.

If you're heading for the Portland/Vancouver area, this is a great station. I've even used it when going to Portland at times to avoid having to wait for the bridge or deal with all the people at the Portland station. Be aware there are no public bathrooms, though! Use the bathrooms on the train or at home to be prepared.
