Beautiful setting for a park. Sadly they are letting scrub bushes block the view from many of the campsites. The sounds of trucks in I-90 and the other highways across the river can be quite loud. The staff keep the park very clean and maintained.Restrooms: There are are restrooms and showers here.Picnic area: The park has a beautiful and large picnic area. Pull off I-90 and take a rest stop here. Though you'll need a Discover pass.

No camp wifi and cell service is 1 bar when you can get it. No enforcement rangers or police presence. Very unsafe. Showers have no water pressure and handles are broken. Based on spider webs on door frame and window sill no one has cleaned the showers in weeks. Urinal in mens restroom overflowing and marked out of order. They don't appear to have a maintenance staff. No trash cans. Have to take all trash to dumpster next to main office. No recycling on site. Have to pack it out. Back-in sites are hard to park in since they are not angled, nearly perpendicular to road.

We booked a last minute reservation and stayed at site 24. It's just across from the river. It's probably one of the best sites not directly on the river. Best site in the campground is site 21 but any along the river are nice. As other reviewers have mentioned, it's pretty windy, so keep that in mind when making a reservation here. The campground is really clean.

This is a great state park, definitely a must visit. It's right on the shores of the Columbia River. The individual campsites are very clean and spacious, easy to maneuver for any size RV, with full hookups. The campground itself is well maintained and clean. The day use area and boat launch are huge with plenty of parking. Fair warning: there aren't too many trees for shade in those hot summer days and it can get super windy, enough to destroy your awning if you don't stow it. Definitely not a place for tents!! It is a short distance to the Ginkgo Petrified Forest State Park and Interpretive Center and the Wanapum Dam visitor's center, and a few other nearby attractions. It's worth the visit, watch for rattlesnakes at all times.Playground: No playground but plenty of space for kids and on the shores of the Columbia River to play.Restrooms: Well maintained and clean. Typical of state parks, better than highway rest stops.Dog-friendliness: Plenty of short trails to walk the dog. Watch for rattlesnakes.Picnic area: Huge picnic area with plenty of parking.

Beautiful location on the Columbia River. It is a smaller state park with 2 loops with huge sites, either as a back in or a pull over to the right. They have a boat launch area and a day use area for picnics and swimming areas. It is 5 minutes away to a small town called vantage which has nothing really but a gas station, few businesses. So stock up in Ellensburg 30 minutes away on your way here on i90.Wanapum is part of a national park called the ginkgo petrified forest. In vantage, there is a visitors center with information about this area that is very educational with beautiful views.Restrooms: Older but cleanDog-friendliness: Dig friendly with poop bags near the bathroom.

Such an easy location to get to from central Washington, big sites that are level and have full hookup. Well maintained boat launch and lots of space for day picnic if you don’t have an RV or tent. If you need to bring a tent for friends - no problem. Plenty of room in most sites. If you want a water front site, look for sites 11-22, with site 21 being the best in my opinion. Perfect for that weekend getaway. The only downside is to be aware that there aren’t many options if you leave something at home. One gas station is all you get and no, they don’t sell or refill propane.Restrooms: Extremely clean and conveniently located throughout the park.

Wanapum is a beautiful lCamping and day use park located on the Columbia River. The camping spots are full hook up with large level paved pads. Most sites a good combination of sun and shade through the day with large grass areas to rest or play in. The only down fall is in the evenings it can get very very windy to the point rangers don't recommend anyone use tents.

The park was beautiful and the ranger couldn't have been nicer. Gorgeous views and the beach was great. However, it's really windy. That was kind of hard to deal with. It was also super hot and the giant RVs are parked really close together so not much in the way of privacy. Overall, not my favorite camp ground but it was absolutely stunning. Very close to the ginkgo petrified forest. The museum there is great. The store is pretty skimpily stocked. Could use lots more items that campers might need. The people that work there couldn't be nicer.Restrooms: Closed for repairs but the porta potties were spotless. However, we had such an incredible wind storm that it knocked one of the porta potties over and slid the other one about 10 ft. The people who worked at the park took care of it immediatelyPicnic area: Huge and shady and grassy and right by the beach water.

By far the most windy park I am aware of. We have stayed a couple of times and have seen canopies blow away and awnings tear. The upper sites don't have much shade when it's hot. Other than that most of the sites are really nice with great views. The best thing about this park for me is when the EA-18G Growlers fly down the river. Awesome!

There are precious shades in the park. Many picnic benches. Has a small beach, a bit muddy. A public rest room. There is also RV camping site. $50-60 a night. To enter the park, it uses discovery park pass or day use park entrance fee is $10. Drive by is free. Ideal place in the summer.
