Harbor Mercantile, established in 1908, is a neighborhood grocery store located in Vashon, Washington. It offers a wide range of products under one roof, including groceries, wine, beer, houseware, hardware, gifts, and more. The store features a deli and bakery with savory meats and sweet treats, making it a convenient spot for everyday needs. Customers appreciate the friendly and helpful staff, who provide a natural, organic experience and maintain a welcoming atmosphere. The store is easy to navigate, with a good selection of wine and a decent-sized beer section that many find appealing. Despite its many positives, some note that prices can be a bit high, with comparisons indicating that similar items may be cheaper elsewhere. The store is open on holidays like Christmas, with signs indicating partial hours, which customers find helpful. However, many wish Harbor Mercantile would stay open later, especially during the summer months when daylight lasts longer, as it would be convenient for people heading home from work in Seattle or Tacoma. Located at the midpoint of the island, it is a popular stop for locals looking to pick up groceries or a six-pack after 6:30 pm, and extending evening hours could make it even more of a community hub.
One summer I went here every day and bought the same thing, at the same time of day and they never remembered me. Not a dig, just interesting. Overall great selection and serves this area of the island really well, as there's not really any other place to get grocery stuff nearby.

It's a little expensive. I bought a card, chips a soda, and a local newspaper. I saw a packet of miso for 6.19. I've bought that very same miso packet as a 3 pack for 3.50 at a Asian store in Tacoma. Their customer service was chipper.
