Unlike all other Ace Hardware stores in the United States -- including California -- the Vashon Ace Hardware does NOT offer veterans discounts. That's their privilege and right as a business. This veteran does not expect this store to offer a discount. No doubt, there probably aren't many veterans living on Vashon Island, so their policy affects very few residents... They promote their Memorial Day and Veterans Day sales big time, but not a cent of support for those veterans who have served this republic in uniform in its defense -- including those who serve only their avarice. This has nothing to do with politics, but everything about having a double standard of what you do, versus what you serve. There are many hardware stores off-island that do offer veterans discounts.

This is a store that deserves 6 stars for absolutely outstanding service. Their prices are on par with other island businesses, and there selection of wares is great, but the people who work here go above and beyond.

Better than great! Excellent! Great service, reasonable prices, friendly and helpful staff - someone ALWAYS asks if you need help finding something. They go above and beyond. The owner even came out to my truck to show me how to hook up a chain to pull a tree out. Service is their number one focus and it shows.
