I feel it necessary to write a review for the River Rue RV park. When the Rivera’s owned the park, it certainly was a great place to have your RV parked as a homebase for the summer. We enjoyed many years there, and the neighbors were great, like a family to come back to each year. John worked hard to keep everything looking neat and tidy. If things needed fixing, he would do it, or the retirees who lived there would help. Jane or someone in the store always answered the phone, so you could talk to a real person, Not so anymore !!We were down there for 10 days the first part of August, parked very close to the store, which was nice. However, the bags of trash that were left for several days, made it an unsightly mess. When we arrived at the park, there was a pile of dead weeds, trash, and tools left in a pile at the end of the tent area. When we left, 10 days later, the mess was still there. Our site had two potholes that someone could have easily twisted their ankle in— easy fix— add dirt(sand) to fill in holes. Another complaint that should be noted. We had our grand children with us and one day I decided to take them over to the play area. I actually had to go get a plastic sack from the store and pick up a whole, not kidding, bag full of trash that had not been picked up for who knows how long. Really, not that hard to step out of the store and check on play area! Along with all the trash was the rubber pieces that were scattered about also, again, not that hard to put back in play area, it’s called sweeping! It’s truly a shame because it was such a nice RV park.I called yesterday, Saturday, to talk to someone about when our boat lease was up. I had to leave a message and 24 hours later, still No return call.Hate to see a business fail, but things need to change. The Park was always full of RVs in the summer and plenty of boats in the boat yard. This year, there were lots of open areas in the park and hardly any boats in the yard. When prices skyrocketed good people left. The bathroom area also needs to be addressed. One of the women’s toilets have not been working for several months.I believe going directly to the owners and sharing my real concern for the betterment of the park. I love this lake and the park. I tried several days in a row to reach out to them but they weren’t available. I ended up having to call and talk on the phone, which I don’t like, so impersonal. My concern was for them, not me. I could tell owner wasn’t too thrilled when I expressed my concerns. On a positive note, loved talking to Torrey in the store. She’s a real people person, but, not her job to keep park going, it’s the owners.!!!

For over two decades, I've cherished my visits to the River Rue. Recently, however, I was saddened to discover that the unique charm and soul that once thrived in this place seems to have diminished significantly.Upon arriving, our drive behind the main building to the campsite was marred by the sight of an eight-foot-high pile of garbage spread along the backside of the building. Dishearteningly, this was merely 10 or so feet away from our designated camping spot. The inside of the store, which was once a cozy, well-stocked space, now bears little resemblance to its former self. The selection of items available has dwindled to about half of what it used to be, and what was once a bustling restaurant now houses nothing more than a bare counter with a sales terminal.Additionally, the landscape was scarred by broken irrigation lines scattered throughout the property. Campers were given no warning about the automated sprinkler system that turned on unexpectedly during the early hours, drenching any belongings left outside. When we raised our concerns about the rubbish heap with the staff, their response was far from sympathetic. Instead, we were met with defensiveness and rudeness. It's not all bad news for the River Rue, though. Its convenient location near Keller Ferry Campground, affordable ice prices compared to the marina, and available water/power hookups are noteworthy advantages. However, unless significant improvements are made to restore its former allure, I would recommend prospective visitors consider alternative accommodations if available. As it stands, River Rue could be deemed a last resort option, and only if one is willing to overlook its current state.Nearby activities: Keller Ferry Campground and Marina are just down the hill which is great for daytime boating or river side lounging. Additionally golf can be found in Wilbur which is about a 10-15 minute drive away.

We came to stay here for 3 days. We found our time here very relaxing. We had a wonderful spot with a great view of the lake and really everything. Everyone at the park was very welcoming and friendly. The lake is just a short drive down the hill and if you want to rent a boat down at the marina, there’s boat rentals available too!I was impressed by the staff in the store, very nice and friendly! The girl in the store makes great coffee too! We enjoyed our time here and are making plans to come back next summer.Nearby activities: Lake RooseveltFood & drinks: Pizza, coffee, ice cream

This park has very small winding roads within the park and there is very little room to back up. We have a 42 foot 5th wheel and they should never have let us into the space we chose. We hit the back of the RV on the way to the spot and when we did our extensive maneuvering to get into our spot we ran our truck door into one of the many fences they have between spots. Once we did get into the spot it was very hot out and we wanted to get our air conditioner working. We were told that the site has 30/50 amp service. The 50 amp which we needed was disconnected. My husband ended up connecting it with the help of Hector from the campground. When it came time to leave, there were so many RV’s packed in there we could not make the turn to get out of the park we were forced to drive over an open spot just to leave, we were both shaking by the time we got out.Sprinklers went off at 11pm and scared and soaked some young kids in a pitched tent next to us and our truck was covered with hard water stains!I do not recommend this RV park to anyone with a 5th wheel or Class A.

We just enjoyed 3 nights and 4 days. Our camp spot has an amazing view. Lots of big shaded trees in the campsite. The store has some of the best ice I have come across. The store is also very affordable for being in the middle of nowhere. Campsite was designed for smaller trailers, Big trailers can be brought through, however you need to be a skilled driver. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Looking forward to going back for a longer stay. We loved the river rue!

Nice little pit stop if you are passing through to the ferry or if you are staying at the campground. Nice little shop with friendly service and necessities you may need for your camping experience. I did not stay here so I didn't rate the "rooms" section bit looked like a nice little hide away if you want to bring your RV or camper.

We had two beautiful years at the Rue with the previous owners. We were suppose to receive our contract for our usual 4 months at the Rue this past April. No contact was ever sent. New owners never tried to contact us at all. I hear the price has doubled, the park is not being maintained. I guess they did us a favor. John and Jane if you see this please know you are in our thoughts and prayers. Thank you for the beautiful memories. Enjoy your much deserved retirement.

Let me start by saying I have been visiting the River Rue RV park for the last 25 years.John and Jane (the former owners) poured their blood, sweat, tears, and I'm sure many sleepless nights into making this the best park on the lake. Unfortunately they had to sell, and for this I do not fault them. It is unfortunate though that such a beautiful place could fall apart in such a spectacular manner in roughly six months. I've just returned from a weekend on the lake, and for the first time in all my years I showed up to dirty bathrooms and not a single lawn in the park cut. I was embarrassed to sit in my annually leased spot, lawn and flower beds kempt, and look out at the park and see dead, uncut grass throughout, they ask annual renters to maintain their own lawns, (or be charged a horrendous fee for their lawn boy to clip it in a haphazard manner) I would think the least they could do is cut their grass before worrying about anyone else's. The list goes on and on, (pricing (doubled), asinine rules, general unwillingness to work with long term patrons, general inability to be contacted) I started writing this review thinking I had the energy to write a full honest review, but upon reflection it would take 10000 words and a few hours to properly describe the deteriorating conditions in the park. Also, they have a sign on the door to the store saying one positive Google review = 1 free cafe drink.John and Jane, if you see this, we love you and appreciate your many years of hard work.

Update June 2022: It's a ghost town for good reasons New owners have ejected or forced out over 25% of the long term yearly renters with rates from $5500 to $15,000 per year. Many more planning to leave soon when leases expire. Lawns not mowed, weeds everywhere, garbage overflowing, owners don't know the basics of how to turn on water or electricity to short term RVs. Expect long term issues with water, sewer, and electric that existed before but old owners cared. New owners are barricaded and in lockdown. Expect a bad experience. Don't make any financial arrangements with the new owners. You may be competing with the county tax collector when this sh_t show goes belly up. Consider Keller ferry campground at the boat landing. It's beautiful although sometimes crowded.New owners Jan 2022. Beware. The previous owners were solid and fair. Prices have doubled now with a focus on making money and serving rich folks. John and Jain focused on average working people. The Rue is now a very different place. I guess nothing good lasts forever.
