The best! We booked last minute and got a great tent site, right on the lake with a small beach! What more could a #130 Malamute ask for? Bathrooms were clean and accessible, parking was easy and crowd was pleasant and quiet. I must admit, the night sky viewing was very good! Lots of trails, deer, squirrels and let me just mention that sunset hikes were outstanding. Close enough to town as well and easy to get to from Winthrop. Boat trailer parking too.Dog-friendliness: Super ! Tons of space to walk, hike and hang. Everyone really took care to pick up after their dogs- beach and water access was incredible.

Great scenery, good campground, overall we we're not disappointed. The camping park is similar to most state parks. Our campsite did not have full hookups for the RV, but there were other sites that did have them. The restrooms had showers, but are not in the best shape. The grass in the camping spots were not that great, some dirt patches, lots of clovers, better than no grass though. The parking spots are mainly flat, some sections were more on a incline. The general park areas had better grass and looked good, there was no play grounds for the kids. The beach access was plenty big and had a good amount of sand. There is a boat launch in the park with trailer parking, but no docks for overnight morrage.Even though the lake & park is close to town, the scenery makes it feel like you are much further out in the wilderness. We saw plenty of deer in the park, and there was even a brown bear on the other side of the lake. We plan on going back next year and I would recommend it for a long camping weekend in the summer.Playground: There were a few large open areas with grass for playing, but no actual playground.Restrooms: Full restrooms with showers, not the greatest condition.Dog-friendliness: We saw many dogs in the park on leashes, nice open areas for walking your pets.Picnic area: A few picnic tables in the general park areas, they fill up quickly.

Nice state park, appears well maintained. Still need to check out how much hiking there is, but I think they are working on a proposal to improve this. Also conveniently located close to Winthrop.

Biggest problem is state reservation system that allows short bookings at all sites which makes it almost impossible to book more than a few days at a single site. I had to move 3 times in five days when campground was only about 3/4 full.Restrooms were clean, beach area nice with shade spots. Plenty of dog poop on trails.

Site 36, right beside the lake, the beach and close to washrooms. Full hook ups, lawn and trees. Well maintained. Went into Winthrop about 10 min away. Funky old western town.

Great campground! Beautiful views! I'd definitely not stay at site #23 again. Numerous people cut through the site to get across the road to the swimming area/restrooms. Very rude! The description stated partial shade. Looks like there used to be a very large tree that provided shade. It's no longer there. We will definitely stay here again!Restrooms: I did not use the facilities.

We stopped by for a short visit after staying the night in Winthrop. We had hoped for a nice walk on an already warm morning but the sprinklers were on ?The grounds looked pretty clean and the bathrooms were clean as well. The camp sites looked a bit close and not private in the area near the day use/swimming hole. I prefer privacy when tent camping so this is something that stuck out to me.It is a big camground so perhaps there are areas that are a bit more private.

Very nice area they work hard to keep it clean. Each morning the rangers were there doing a good job of keeping up and cleaning up. They are helpful and nice. The price is nice. Really a great place to escape.

Great small lake and park near Winthrop. Part of the lake is well-maintained and landscaped and there are plenty of tables and spots to have a picnic. Large, clean restrooms too. There is a swimming area sectioned off, and it would be a great spot for boating. Definitely a nice picturesque spot while in the North Cascades.

Beautiful. The green grass and blue water in the middle of desert and summer is a welcome sight. Lot of picnic tables and lake recreation

Nice lake, not huge but plenty of room to move around. I believe it's used for irrigation, and is not a constant level lake. Easy water access and a latrine at the parking area. Parking requires some kind if pass, I'm not from here and not exactly sure about the pass only that one is needed. However, there is some roadside parking available. So drop gear then go park outside of the official parking area, if needed.

Camping sites with direct water access, biking, swimming, fishing, boating, and jet skis are all allowed. It's right outside Winthrop, a charming old west themed town with great shops, put-put and restaurants. There isn't much for cell service in the park, but 5g is strong just outside of it. It's a great place for families with all types of camping sites for tents and/or RV's. Just be sure to bring a propane grill and/or fire-pit because there is no wood or charcoal burning of any kind when the burn bans are in effect.

It had been about 15 years since we had camped there. The upgrades are fantastic! A brand new park entrance and a nice trail through the wildflower meadow's hills above the campground. We camped in the original east campground that has more trees and shade than the newly (when?) acquired west campground that used to be privately owned. The little store by the boat launch is gone though! I like the expansive campsites with many options for tent placement. No dedicated gravel tent pads, just lush lawn!
