Convenient. Clean locker rooms. Pool well maintained. Water was a touch warm for lap swimming.

I work and I want to go after 8 and on weekends but, they close so early. I guess they only want the students and not geared to service the community. Soon, I will stop my membership.

nated in London, England, in 1844. It was founded by George Williams, a draper, who, along with a group of fellow drapers, sought to create a safe and supportive environment for young men working in the city, offering alternatives to the temptations of street life through Bible study and prayer. The organization quickly expanded, reaching other countries and becoming a global movement focused on strengthening communities. This ymca goes against those values by charging full memberships and no day passes. They seemed to lost the values of the reason why they exist in the first place. It's suppose to be affordable to jeep young men off the streets but they can't say that if they don't offer a day pass. Without the day pass it becomes for the Rich and not the young men that are one the street due to the pricing ofa membership. I dont think the forefathers that started this organization meant for it to be that away. Not for the poor white kid anymore. .

Hands down the worst gym in the SWV region. Jay Rist has done a phenomenal job… of running the Y into the ground. Half the building is closed to daily use. Want to do some yoga on your own time? Forget about it. Want to play basketball or swim? Better check to make sure the several leagues and swim teams don’t have it reserved. Want to do some spin on your own? You must be joking…. It’s the same environment that’s plagued the place since Jay took over. You pay some of the steepest gym membership fees for the area just to step of HUMAN FECES… in the middle of the floor the first day of our membership. Leadership even saw fit to condense all the gym equipment into one tiny room for every member to use. So, if you enjoy a nice gym environment, where you get to bump into half the gym while you’re lifting, utilize human feces as an obstacle course, stare blissfully through glass doors into vacant yoga and spin studios and day dream about a nice stretch or sweat session, watch swim teams practice while you sit on the sidelines with your floaties, or even cheer others kids (or adults) on as they play basketball, the Beckley YMCA is the right place for you.
If you’re looking for a nice, well balanced, special gym area with a fully accessible yoga studio, individual showers, clean facility and laid back environment, I would recommend Bodyworks instead.

Cute YMCA the pool area was different then what we expected. It was still enjoyable. With only the one pool we thought it would be could. The water was not cold it was a nice temperature. Change rooms are clean. Parking was confusing we didn't see where to park. Staff are friendly.

I stopped in this facility to inquire about membership and no one knew anything and could not help me. There is literally no parking unless you want to pay. Crazy since this is a large gym. Also they don't allow guests for members and I could not even buy a day pass to use the gym. The people I talked to knew enough to turn me away. Plus the neighborhood seemed to be the bad part of town and didn't seem the safest.I most likely will not be returning.

I do not recommend the YMCA as some of the higher ups within the organization, Mat Bishop being the one in particular has involved himself in personal situations on multiple occasions that had no regards to him. Made false accusations, which in return made for a toxic environment that made me super uncomfortable for me to be in. Much less work out in. The only reason I stayed for so long was for the child watch, but on more occasions than not there were issues regarding staff. Whether it be not staffed efficiently, or some of the staff was very questionable. To the point where I wouldn’t even leave my kids due to the potential danger of my 1 year old putting small beads in his mouth that was all over the floor, and the employee who was down there at the time was just standing around watching. Who I was also told prior to that from Mat, that the certain employee whom I’m speaking of failed a drug test due to THC. (That should have never been discussed with a customer as I find it super unprofessional)
On top of all that, the steam room NEVER worked in the women’s locker room.
I absolutely do not recommend the YMCA to anyone!

I pay for a monthly pass 60.00 . We go maybe four times a months and that just me and my oldest girl,my girlfriend and youngest didn't like it they only went one time. I tried to take my oldest girl and niece the other day and they wouldn't let my niece in,even though I pay for four people a month, and hardly use the place! They wouldn't let her go in and swim! It is so not kid friendly either, they will watch your kids but that's about it!

This is the only YMCA that I've visited that didn't have on site parking. There was a parking lot across the street which required parking permit. They're was another parking behind the building that requires monthly permit. I initially parked at one of the parking spaces on site. However, when I asked at the front desk, they said i couldn't park there!? She said i could park behind the building. Wren i told her that parking required monthly permit, she said it was okay. People were also parking at the parking across the street where you needed parking permit. I thought that was crazy.
This is also the only YMCA that I visited that didn't have hot water for shower. The shower curtains were also too short for the booth. The locker doesn't have any division. So, if you are using the pool, your clothes would be touching your shoes.

No day pass and no guests allowed just to work out for one day for like an hour
