Beautiful view at Cacapon lookout where you can see four states. They have cabins, picnic areas, tennis courts, and many other activities. There's a gift shop as well .

Some nice hiking trails near the lodge. View of the lake are pretty. The forest has a lot of moss and rocks making it unique in a West Virginia sort of way. Food at the lodge was OK; but the fact the bar closed at 9pm ruined everything

We were here for a bike race. Stayed at a small cabin. It was perfect for our family of 4. Small, but all the amenities we needed for the weekend. There is a lift, but the beds are VERY small. Would for a child, but I would have felt more comfortable if the ladder up there had hand holds.

The park grounds are great as one would expect for a large state park. The new lodge is nice although overpriced for what it is. We were here for a NICA race so we camped. We rode a bunch of the trails the day before they setup the race course and a few of the trails are great rides. The skills park was very nice. We did drive up to the top of the mountain and highly recommend if you go. The road up however is rough to say the least. If you are in a car with little ground clearance you may want to not make the trip up. We camped in the parking lot for the swimming lake that is open for swimming through the summer. The few downsides I will mention is that the swimming bath house that was opened for all of us that camped was pretty filthy with very little working lights. With all the money they have spent at the lodge they should have spent some of it improving the bath houses around the park. Don't let that discourage you though since I don't think they allow overnight camping here normally anyway. We will be back next year for the next race and will still camp here but will be prepared for it better.

Absolutely lovely, well-managed, pristine park with secluded and semi-secluded campsites. Great option if you like your camping quiet and completely off the grid. Great for peaceful camping. Not recommended for "party" camping. Dogs permitted.

My family and I vacationed in Cacapon Resort and State Park and had such a great time. We stayed in a cabin not too far from the lodge. It had four rooms consisting of two rooms with queen sized beds and two rooms with two twin beds, making it a comfortable stay. Our cabin also had a kitchen, bathroom, large living room, a fire pit, grill, and two picnic tables. There were so many great activities happening around the park for ALL ages. We took advantage of nature walks, the Irish road bowling (HIGHLY RECOMMEND!), geocaching, paddle boating, and more. Dale was our guide for most activities and he was fantastic! Very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We came here with two small children and had so much fun! If I had to have one complaint is that the food in the lounge isn't very good. You'll have more fun bringing and cooking your own in your cabin or on a campfire!

The park is big and beautiful. It offers a wide variety of activities. The new main building is gorgeous!! Can't wait to come back and spend more time there.

It is a beautiful park with a newly built lodge. Highly recommend driving up to the Cacapon Mountain overlook. It's rough...mostly on gravel road, but worth the drive! Breathtakingly beautiful! We loved the Ridge Trail, too.

Used to bring the kids here and stay in one of the cabins. Can't believe the upgrades in this place now. Had lunch with my son and his wife in the lovely restaurant, and there was a delightful gift shop with WV glass, fossils, and gem stones. Then a stop at the Nature Center is a must. Very knowledgeable people there.

The new park facilities are great. Really nice ambiance and new addition to the old lodge is well done. The spa is a nice addition although the staff needs a bit of customer care training as well as ensuring COVID precautions are followed at the standards of other spas in the area. The park really needs to upgrade the food. For such a nice renovation, the food is just not very good for the look and feel of the lodge as well as other park amenities. I often look for conference venues for corporate events and the one thing that gets in the way of choosing the park is the food and beverage service and options. Just not up to the standards expected by the business leaders that would attend our events. Sad really as it is a really great location, lovely hotel accommodations, great golf course (minus the clubhouse if you would call it that), and very nice people.Overall, it is a nice park. Hiking has become less enjoyable with the introduction of cyclists on the trails (many are shared) who disturb the peaceful hiking experience that one could enjoy prior to the bikes. We don't hike there anymore for that reason after hiking in the park for the last 22 years.

I loved Cacapon Resort State Park! I'd spent a week there about 35 years ago, and really enjoyed it. Back then, I rode (horses) every day and spent hours reading on the front porch of the lodge. I stayed in a cabin at the time. Nowadays, I am "done" with rustic cabins and so this time I stayed in the air-conditioned comfort of the recently renovated Lodge. We had a queen-size bed. This time, no riding (I am in my sixties) but instead, lots of porch sitting and the best facial I've ever had (only $44 for half an hour of R&R!). I'd hoped to also get a massage but the massage therapist was not there Monday through Thursday; keep that in mind if you are visiting mid-week.The restaurant serves three meals a day and is decent. The pie was especially delicious (I am a pie baker and picky about my pies). At breakfast, my French toast was perfect but my husband was served nearly raw poached eggs. A quick word with the server resulted in an embarrassed apology and a replacement egg dish. Dinner was good. Spaghetti with meat sauce was positively delectable. Meatloaf was decent. My husband was less thrilled with his steak and crab dip. I think the lesson here is to stick to comfort food, and eschew the fancier fare. When in Rome, do as the Romans do.There is an indoor pool but on a hot day, that did not appeal to us. There is also a lake and walking trails (quite nice). You can golf (we do not) or play tennis (ditto) if you like. Essentially, at Cacapon you can busy yourself with activities or you can do as we did, plop yourself in a rocking chair or lounge chair and just chill out while gazing at the mountain view.We plan to return!

We really enjoyed this park and the experience. The cabin we rented from the park was clean and very well furnished (table, chairs, beds, stove, refrigerator, microwave) for our use. The woods were beautiful. For me, the trails were a bit difficult but not unexpected in the hilly territory.

Lots to offer My kids and I love visiting state parks. They have so much to offer in one area. On a recent trip we passed right by this state park and decided to stop for a couple hours to stretch our legs and explore. They have great directional signs to tell you which way to go and what the park offers. We started off my heading to the swimming lake. They charge a small fee to swim at the lake. There is a small beach area. The bathroom/ shower house is very old and shows the original charm of the park. There are also several areas to hike from this parking lot. They have another section with basketballs courts, playground, nature center and pavilion. Also more hiking paths. The lodge area was recently renovated and really nice. There is a pool, hot tub, spa, restaurant, and outdoor area overlooking a golf course. The park also had a list of weekend activities to keep families entertained. Worth a stop if in the area.

Nice lake and camping area, friendly staff at the discovery center. Beautiful views, definitely worth the drive to the top. Probably my 2nd favorite view in the area after the Stonewall Jackson battle view by the mountian top restaurant.

Went with a group of family members, and we all absolutely loved it! We had 3 rooms at the lodge (2 in south & 1 in north lodge), all were very clean with great views! Did a lot of hiking! Our favorite trail was the Ziler trail, took some stamina! Cooked out near the beach. Hiked up to the fishing lake (which is beautiful) every morning. We had great reception even while hiking (gps came in handy when we got off course!) The restaurant has really great breakfasts, and we liked the pizza too! And, of course enjoyed roasting marshmallows around the campfire in the evening! We will definitely be back!!
