Hickory Dining Room at the Canaan Valley Resort 'Tis a Grand Day It is a Winter Wonderland in Canaan Valley - an excellent day for skiing. Hickory Dining Room at the Canaan Valley Resort was packed last night and for breakfast. This is the site for the Best Ribeye in the Valley. Medium rare with baked potato. Service is always excellent. Hickory Dining Room at the Canaan Valley Resort has the finest dining room in Canaan Valley - simply beautiful. Large wall of windows facing east with three ski hills in view, and a doe saunters by. Caveat: very few places to order a steak, and the Hickory Dining Room at the Canaan Valley Resort ribeye is excellent.

Our party of ten was greeted and seated promptly without calling ahead. The staff was very pleasant, attentive, and engaging. The food portions were generous, and all ten of us were pleased with our meals. Given that six of the members of our party were children, I think that says a great deal. We eat here at least once on each trip, and we keep going back. While we did not have breakfast here on this trip, their buffet has always been a group pleaser. They have something for everyone.

Gina our waitress , was absolutely amazing and the best part of our experience. I ordered the ribye cooked rare . It was brought to me almost well done and had 7 cloves of garlic buried inside that one piece of steak . No flavor at all except the burn of all the garlic . The sautéed vegetables weren't cooked all the way . The mashed potatoes could have been used to patch drywall , had no flavor at all . $84.00 , and the best part was my ol lady's cheese sticks . They came frozen in a bag and was still barely good .

Nice restaurant located at Canaan Valley Resort. The breakfast buffet is quite nice and the food is hot and good. You can choose either the cold or both hot and cold depending on appetite. All in all the service and food is good especially considering there are not a lot of options when in the valley.20231014 Dinner with friends at the Hickory. Barb was our server, she was great and so was the food. Thanks Barb for finding the ever elusive blueberry pie.Parking: Plenty of parking available.

Stopped here for lunch while on a day trip to the area to see the fall colors. The food was great (especially the fries) and the service was okay. The view outside while eating was a plus. Overall a good option for a decent, fairly quick meal.

Incredible view however my $14 omelette, potatoes, sausage, and biscuit were the same quality you get at a Hampton Inn free breakfast. Nothing made from scratch! All frozen, then heated and served. And all at very high prices!

For breakfast, the restaurant has a plentiful, fresh hot food. I was able to call from the room and place a To Go order. It was ready in less than 10 minutes, and we walked over to pick it up. The Mountaineer breakfast lasted me 3 breakfasts in my room (I had brought a plastic container from home for leftovers for the mini-fridge). The breakfast has sausage gray and biscuits, two sausages (could have gotten bacon), two scrambled eggs, potatoes, and three small pancakes. My husband enjoyed the Valley Breakfast which came with two eggs, sausage or bacon, potatoes, and toast or biscuit.I enjoy eating in my suite at the big table or sitting outside on the balcony but calling for a To Go order is hit or miss. Sometimes, even if you call three times, no one answers. You could always go in person and wait for your order. For lunch, I went and decided to stay and dine. I got the chicken salad on a croissant. It was not the flakey croissant I was expecting, more of a round croissant looking bun. The chicken salad was plentiful and fine and not to much mayonnaise but nothing stood out either. It came with a slice of lettuce and tomato. The fries were thick steak cut fries that curled, seasoned, and double fried so they were crispy on the outside. I also got the coleslaw but it tasted like the mass produced, bulk coleslaw and was so nasty tasting that I could not eat it.I had Loretta who was nice and brought me a refill of the real ice tea.About a year ago, we had ordered To Go for the dinners and thought the food was plentiful and good. The dining room view is really nice on the 2nd floor of the pool, golf course and mountains and trees with long windows. The picture I took is actually from outside at ground level since I did not have my camera with me when I dined, but you will get an idea of the view.

Very good salad. We split an entre which was a good decision. Crab ravioli was delicious but rich. Our waitress was cheerful and helpful.

We had two dinners and a breakfast during our stay at Canaan Valley Resort and all three meals were excellent with friendly efficient service. Portions were also very generous. They do use more salt than I personally prefer but I know most people really like salt. If it's not crowded and you can get a table by the window you also get a very nice view of the grounds and surrounding area

Yuck!! Breakfast buffet was horrible. Potatoes old & cold. No seasoning on anything. Pastries dried out & hard. Best thing was the cold cereal. I paid $15 for a cup of cold pops cereal ? Never again!
