Blackwater Falls State Park, located in the Allegheny Mountains of Tucker County, West Virginia, is renowned for its stunning natural beauty. The park's main attraction is Blackwater Falls, a 62-foot cascade where the Blackwater River flows into Blackwater Canyon, creating a breathtaking sight. Visitors enjoy exploring the trails, which offer beautiful views and accessible overlooks at key vantage points. The park is family-friendly, with picnic areas and a well-maintained Trading Post that provides helpful staff, clean bathrooms, and items for purchase. The scenery varies with the seasons, from misty, high-flow waterfalls in spring to a winter wonderland with snow gear and sled runs, though it is not fully ADA accessible. Many visitors find the falls worth the drive and appreciate the safe, scenic overlooks suitable for children. Overall, Blackwater Falls State Park is a beautiful, enjoyable destination for hiking, picnicking, and experiencing nature’s wonders.
Beautiful well kept park with no fee to enter or park. Every staff member I encountered in 2 locations was friendly and interested in seeing that I had a good time at the park. Concessions are reasonably priced. Will definitely return to see more of this park.
