Took my MDX there when the transmission completely failed. Here is the thing, the bad reviews you are seeing are from the type of people that expect their car to be fixed within a few days. Somehow people expect them to have every single specific part from their certain transmission and have them slap it together within a few days? They have dissect your transmission, find what was the problem, order OEM parts and once they come in they reassemble the transmission, reinstall and then test it. Melvins is not McDonalds, they are not going to have it done in an instant. I do not know of any other place that could do so unless it was from a dealership that has the said parts or rebuilt transmissions on standby and many technicians to get it in and out of there but the price will most likely exceed the cost of your entire vehicle.
Melvins at the time only had 2 guys and now have 3, all are trustworthy and willing to talk and help you out. I had them install a ATF cooler and inline filter as well which they gladly did. Also asked if they could do my timing, they got it set up and all was done. If I ever have to deal with transmission problems again I will go to them. If you have patience and want a trusting company then go here. If your daily driver's transmission went out and you need it done in a few days to work? Get a new car, it just isnt possible to expect that kind of service from any shop.

So after a week and a half of telling me it would be in and I would get a call back, I decided I was done. Pulled my truck out of there a lot and took it to the ford dealership down the street. They had me in that day, and within twenty five minutes had a diagnosis that the slave cylinder was out. Two days later, the part was ordered and in my truck, and I was on my way home. Thanks, melvins.I really appreciate using up a week's worth of vacation.Because you couldn't do the job.

Unfortunately 0 stars wasn't an option DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE!!!!!!! The only way cars leave this shop is when you decide to get it towed to another. They do not deal in honesty will lie straight to your face several times in a row, customer service was not invented when this place was established unfortunately so don't expect it. The place looks like a legitimate dump both inside and out which should have been an indication of how they don't do business much like cleaning but you live and learn. My car was brought in over 6 months ago and all of the parts for my vehicle have been in their possession for over 3. Save yourself the frustration, uber fees, time, money and sanity don't leave your car at this glorified parking garage.

When I called him up to talk to him about what was wrong with my transmission he automatically quoted me $2,400 without looking. So I questioned him I asked him if I took the transmission out and brought it to him, would it be cheaper, he said no $2,400 no matter what. He talk to me like he had an attitude about the price, he said I needed to bring it in. I told him know thank you I'll look elsewhere, just from the way he treated and talking down to me, I will not give anybody $2,400 to talk to me like that, I found out I can buy a brand new rebuilt transmission from a very reputable garage for $1,000 with a torque converter and two gallons of transmission fluid, I've been working on vehicles over 45 years so I know what I'm doing.

If you choose this place to “repair” your car and your experience is like ours, this is what you should expect. First, they’ll keep your car for about two months. When you call or go by to check on it, you’ll be told they ordered parts and they were sent the wrong ones. As soon as they arrive your car will be fixed. We got this lie twice. You’ll finally get it back and it won’t be fixed. I did not heed the reviews I read here. I regret that. Don’t be like me.

The boss forgot to tell employers to pick up car. A tow truck picked it up a few days later after many phone calls. This was Friday Nov 6 after renting a car for a week. Now it is November 11 and after another call to check on progress they didn't even know the car was there. For 5 days they didn't know. Ridiculous. They should pay for another week of rent on a car. I believe the bosses name is Mike. Unprofessional.Service: Transmission

A transmission was replaced here less then 5k after I am replacing it with a new one from the dealership. Do to noise from transmission and it becoming inoperable. When at the shop I found out bolts on the transmission was only hand tightened except one. The motor mounts bolt was loose. The flywheel bolts was never tighten or at specs so flywheel bolts damaged flywheel torque converter. Crank sensor look to been damage an glue back into the transmission. Thousand dollars in repairs fixing there mistakes.
